Controversial sideline plays-Review

Plays under 2 minutes-Review

Get rid of them and just keep reviews of last 2 minutes of the game, like the old days and live with the consequences.I have to DVR the game and watch the game in delay now.I wouldn't pay a ticket to a game for this nonsense.

Thank gawd for NBA!

The NBA has gone soft too. You can't even breathe on wing players without a foul being called.

Vikings beat the Packers 37-34. Adrian Peterson was a beast, finishing just nine yards short of the all-time single season rushing yardage record but ran just enough yards in the closing seconds to set up the game winning field goal. Da Bears are toast for this year. sad sad wall fit pout

Yes I'm bitter and angry that the Giants choked the season away. But I can take solace at Jerry Jones, the Cowbitches and their front-running fans have to EAT IT for another year. Sixteen years without a trophy and my Giants won two in the past five years. I'll take that any day.

I'm rooting for the Texans, but it appears I sold my PSLs at the absolute peak, so yay me.

I can't deal with some of the Cowboy fans either. I already shut a few of em down

on FB earlier. lol They were talking shit like they were a 12-4 team and just lost

at home last week to New Orleans. Can't wait for Stephen A. Smith to light Romo

ass up tomorrow on First Take. lol Don't tell me about pissing the season away. The

steelers lost 7 of their 8 games by a touchdown or less. They have got to get some

cohesion on the offensive line. They were starting a different lineup every two weeks.

Niners offense is better than it was last year, but our defense, while still quite good, is inconsistent and seems to randomly lack motivation. As much as I'm hoping for a trip to the Super Bowl, I don't see us getting any farther than we did last year.

Wish Peterson had broken the record for a number of reasons, but dude still had a great season, and I loved the way he was just talking about team after the game. nod

I don't care about any of the rules changes thus far. The game has been constantly changing and evolving for the last 40 years and this is just the era that we're in now. Yes, some of the rules/penalties seem a bit "soft", but I don't see them going back to the old rules, so it's something I'm trying to adapt to and deal with.

What I will NOT be cool with is a complete doing away with kickoffs. That is the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

Yes, I think some challenges take too much time, but I'd rather they do all they can to get it right. I'm hoping they change a couple of the review rules in the offseason, though. Particularly the one where coaches get their team the 15 yard penalty for throwing a flag on an automatically reviewable play. It's heat of the moment, and there is more than enough officials on the field to pick up that red flag, hand it back and tell the coach it's already being reviewed. No need to give them a penalty, particularly with so damn many confusing rules in place.

Mike Tannenbaum is O-U-T as Jets GM. Woody said Rex Ryan stays as head coach.

But what will Woody do if the new GM wants his own guy?

UPDATE: Andy Reid, Pat Shurmur, Romeo Crennel, Chan Gailey AND Lovie Smith - gone!

Rex Ryan might only be staying for now until new GM.

Or they're forcing him to stay another year with Sanchez (because it's likely they won't be able to do anything other than pay him next year) as a form of torturous punishment.

I'm surprised about Lovie Smith. The Bears teams the last couple years haven't been great from a personel standpoint. Good, but not great. I didn't think he had anything to do with that.

Good doesn't get you to the Super Bowel and usually only gets you to A playoff game. It was reported in Chi-town that the GM (Emory) had made the decision a month ago to fire Coach Lovie. Coach did some good things, but it was obvious that the Bears have been spinning their wheels going no where for a couple of seasons under his coaching staff. He had the power to pick his offensive coaches and he was never able to find the right pieces. The offense couldn't score and inside the twenty? Forget about it.

Yeah, but isn't that the GMs fault? I didn't think Lovie was in a position to make player personel decisions. And a good deal of the reason their offense has only been good, is because they focused on defense and go out of their way to get big names/star players/etc. on offense. I know they've had a couple, but not many. It will be interesting to see if they get better, for sure.

Oh well, I always knew Rex Ryan was a moron. But really, with Buddy Ryan for a father, what chance did any Ryan kid have?

The word is from watching Tim Tebow in practice, the Jets coaching staff realised how limited he is, and how bad his throwing mechanics are. Tebow can't play the QB position the way it has to be played in today's NFL. He can't gun the ball downfield like RG3 & Andrew Luck. Look at his stats from last season - numbers don't lie. Elway knew the deal. According to Boomer, you can't 'fix' Tebow at this point. He is what he is - a change-of-pace guy, not a legit starting QB.

One playoff appearance in 6 seasons

Lost 8 out 9 to the Packers... 6 straight losses

17-19 in December

was sub 500 against teams with winning records

25 coaching changes in 8 season, got rid of Rivera because he heard footsteps.

Coach Lovie was responsible for hiring his own personal and he was never able to put the coaching pieces together for the offense. Yes, Angelo was a joke as GM but you can't hide behind his poor decision forever. The facts of the matter when the Bears had a weak schedules, the prevailed somewhat. When they had a schedule were the opposing team record were over 500 they had problems. In most instances they relied on their defense to score points and that defense is now a little bit long in the tooth. Last two season the started out 7-3 / 7-1 only to fade at the end. The black and blue division was really up for grabs, no team was really a standout but this team still couldn't get it together.

I'll admit Angelo was clueless, trading tight-end Greg Olsen was a HUGE mistake.

I never understood that move either. Offensive line woes didn't help either. I'm

on the fence on this one because the Bears were 10-6 and you had to be out

of your damn mind to think this was a 12-4 Super Bowl ready team. Yet they could

have made the postseason.

They should have made the postseason. nod While I admit that they had some issues with injuries down the stretch, there were a couple of games they should have won but did not, particularly because their offense sputtered due to their porous offensive line. Yes, both Seattle and Houston had awesome defenses, and Minnesota was great at home, especially with Adrian Peterson running the ball, but had the Bears won just one of those games down the stretch, they would be in the playoffs right now.

It seems like everyone outside of Chicago was surprised at Lovie Smith getting axed, but people in Chicago had seen this coming for some time, and some fans were actively calling for his dismissal several years ago, even when they got to the NFC Championship game. Jerry Angelo didn't do the Bears team or fans any favors with his bad draft picks, but Lovie Smith could have done something about the offensive line years ago, yet there was no improvement. This would have been a raw deal if he had only been around for three seasons, but he had been coaching the Bears since 2004, and it was becoming obvious that they weren't going to get any better than being just a playoff contender. Sure, Lovie was a nice guy and the players loved him, but the team needed a shakeup because the organization had stagnated.
