The NFL 2012 Regular Season Thread The smell of FOOTBALL is in the air! Can't think of a better way to kick off the season than my defending Super Bowl champion Giants taking on the hated Cowboys.
With their injuries and a brutal schedule I have no idea what to expect from NY. Just get in the playoffs and see what happens.

My team (the Bears) have improved their offensive weapons but they have the worst offensive line in the NFL. If Jay Cutler can stay healthy the Bears will average 25 to 30 points a game. They have almost ZERO pass rush and are coached by the one of the least active Sunday coaches in NFL history as all Lovie 3 career playoff victories Smith does is watch the game via jumbotron. The Bears will be 10-6 if Cutler remains upright.

If Vick can stay healthy I expect my Eagles to get back in the playoffs

I'm with you Uptown. I don't know what to expect from the Giants. But this is actually a step up from what I felt about them this time last year - I didn't expect ANYTHING!!!! I think I pretty much wrote that here on some thread last year.....and we know how last year ended!!!
A word of caution: Going forward I will be using the term Superbowl Champions as often as possible in my posts concerning Big Blue.
Go get 'em Big Blue!!

Giants offense is pretty sorry. Cruz dropped two passes, and the run blocking is pitiful.

GO NINERS!!!!!! We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

RG3 led the 'Skins to a victory over the Saints!!!! Did the Saints get their suspended players back for this game???? I didn't think it would be a big deal for them not to have Payton as their coach, but I could be wrong!
Now the Giants have to worry 'bout the 'Skins too..........

My Bears won the game! Granted, they looked ugly early on but got into their groove later on against a rookie quarterback.
Speaking of rookie quarterbacks...
Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts) - The number one pick in the NFL Draft, he threw for over 300 yards but struggled for much of the game, throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble in their 41-21 loss. Nevertheless, he threw a touchdown and had a couple of decent drives against the Chicago Bears secondary. Grade: C-
Robert Griffin III (Washington Redskins) - The number two pick in the NFL Draft and last year's Heisman Trophy winner, he looked very much like a champion as he threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns without turning the ball over, leading the Redskins to a huge upset victory on the road against the New Orleans Saints 40-32. Grade: A-
Ryan Tannehill (Miami Dolphins) - The eighth pick in the NFL Draft, he struggled all day against the Houston Texans defense, throwing three interceptions and completing 20 of 36 passes for 219 yards in their 30-10 loss. Grade: D
Brandon Weeden (Cleveland Browns) - The second of the Cleveland Browns' two first round draft picks, he looked like a deer in headlights, throwing four interceptions and only 118 yards on just 12 completions. If Michael Vick hadn't played almost as badly as Weeden, it would have looked even worse than it turned out. Nevertheless, the Eagles beat the Browns 17-16 on a dramatic game-winning last drive. Grade: F
Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) - Though he was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks to back up their free agent acquisition Matt Flynn from the Green Bay Packers, Wilson actually played spectacularly during the preseason to win the starting job. His first game against the Arizona Cardinals was so-so, completing 18 of 35 passes for 153 yards and throwing one touchdown and interception each. However, he had a chance to win the game for the Seahawks in the closing seconds but threw three straight incomplete passes at the goal line as they fell short 20-16. Grade: C

Same shit different day with the steelers oline. They are just decimated with injuries there. Mike Adams is obviously not ready yet. DeCastro who they counted on heavily is on IR until mid season. Marcus Gilbert and Ramon Foster goes down. Willie Colon is 2 false starts waiting to happen every game. Ben just does not have good luck with this oline. Yes that was a bad int he threw to end the game. As far as rookie qb's go Andrew Luck and RG 3 look like future studs. Russell Wilson bless him and he may eventually be good but there is no way in the hell i'm paying Matt Flynn 10 mil in guaranteed money for the next 2 years to sit. I would have at least seen what i have with him in a game that counts before i would have benched him. Great job Seahawks front office. Don't laugh at my funk

What a wild first Sunday in the NFL. 49ers might be the class of the NFC. Peyton tore up the Steelers - they definitely miss Ryan Clark in the secondary, and the o-line continues to have issues. Sanchez looked good vs the hapless Bills - let's see how he plays against Pittsburgh.

My Saints looked awful today. Regardless of the lifted suspensions, not having Payton is HUGE. The team I saw today was so lackluster, so sloppy and undisciplined, terrible play calling (2 or 3 attempts to get the ball to Jimmy Graham in the second half?)...never would have happened under Payton! But Payton or no Payton, the defense still cant get off the field (and they supposedly upgraded the D!). They stopped RG3 and the Skins when they HAD to, but the Saints D just gives up way too many yards. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but it would not surprise me if my Bayou Boys dont make the postseason this year. Payton makes that much of a difference.
A pretty shitty sports weekend for me all around, seeing as my "new look" Dodgers look worse than ever.
She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

Saints' defense was a non-factor.

Da Bears............ | |

If the Bears keep Cutler upright, they're a force to be reckoned with. They finally have legit wideouts, Forte is a beast, and the 'D' is rough. Packers better be ready.

Good news is they play next week to correct that debacle in the 4th qtr. Hopefully they will have a few guys on the oline next to Pouncey that can actually block. Don't laugh at my funk

wow...what happened with the Raiders last night? Not a very good start to their season.

Hopefully the Giants got the message and bring their A-game Sunday. Tampa's no walk in the park, and it's critical for NY to have a good first half to the season.
