Faizon Love says he feared for his life when Katt Williams pulled a gun on him this week, telling TMZ ... Katt's obsession with drugs and firearms could have cost him his life.

Love called into TMZ Live Friday to explain what went down Tuesday night -- when Katt pulled a gun on him at a parking lot outside Supperclub in Hollywood.

Love says ... when Katt pointed the weapon at him, he 100% feared getting shot, explaining ... "When someone pulls a gun and they on that narcotics ... you don't know what's gonna happen."

One of Love's homeboys managed to snatch the gun from Katt -- and discovered it was unloaded.

Katt was arrested that night for a possible gun violation, but was later released from custody -- and no charges have been filed.

As for what caused the beef, Faizon wouldn't say. It's something that happened 6 months ago, but he insists it was NOT about money.

When I think about Katt, I get pretty sad. Seemed like he was really on his way in the early 00's on becoming one of the next big comics, then it just seemed like he got caught up in the "mess" and ended up going downhill. Makes me appreciate and understand more when Dave Chappelle walked away from all the fame, the money, etc. to keep his sanity.

What exactly is wrong with Katt? Is it mental health issues or drugs?

I think it's both too. He always seems real angry too. Often for no good reason.

Well it's either one of two things: he just doesn't know how to handle fame or he was like this BEFORE the fame. And didn't he adopt like 7 kids or something? I think the majority, if not most are the children of relatives who couldn't care for them. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I could have sworn I heard that before. Plus, he has either 1 or 2 biological kids of his own. If all of this is true, it's enough to drive someone insane...but it doesn't excuse his behavior.

Yes I think he did. He himself talks about (in one of his comedy routines) the kid with ADD that drives him crazy (did he say the kid was born to a mother addicted to crack? I think so) anyway, he has to be somewhat of a good dude to take care of all these children and not just be out thinking about himself- so I don't know. But I like him and he's freakin hilarious. When I watch his routine and he's SO GD funny, it makes me wonder how anyone finds someone like Ray Romano funny. Different strokes I guess.....

Right! That's what doesn't want me to write him completely off and makes me feel so sad when I hear these things about him. As far as I'm concerned, he should had become one of the top comedians in the past 10 years but it seems he has sabotaged himself from becoming completely successful.

I heard that Katt and Charlie had a fight and Katt instigated it and Charlie knocked him the fuck out... I remember the Jamie incident, he and his cronies clowned him mercilessly. It was actually sad to hear but Jamie, Steve and Katt didn't come out anymore the wiser. Don't understand Mike and Rickey's situation.
