Former NFL star Bob Whitfield has 21 days to fork over $75,000 to his reality star ex-wife Sheree Whitfield for overdue child support ... or else.

According to legal docs obtained by TMZ ... Bob admits he failed to make 38 monthly child support payments of $2,142 to the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star ... more than $81k.

Bob claimed he simply didn't have the money -- and had asked the court to lower his obligation ... but that was denied.

Now, the two sides have struck a deal in which Bob has agreed to hand over $75k before Nov. 11 ... or face the consequences in court.

In addition to the $75k, Bob has also agreed to pay $1,000 per month for the next 12 months -- before reverting back to the original $2,142.

Fun Fact -- Back in 2000, Whitfield signed a 6-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons in the neighborhood of $30 million.

I was under the impression they went back to court because he wasn't paying the original amount he was suppose to in the first place, which is why Phaedra was saying have him sent to jail, an idea Sheree rejected. What good does another order do if he just simply refuses to pay, again?

Actually, the word on Atlanta streets is that he purposely withheld payments to force them into court to have her payments reduced, as she stripped the home in his name that was for her to rise the kids in of $200,000 worth of inside fixtures- after not paying the mortage as promised in their divorce settlement, in addition to spending her initial $1.1 million settlement on an Aston Martin, $1000 Laboutins shoes, & $10,000 Birkin bags, then requesting more money.

Sheree rejected that order because she knew was going to be found in contempt of court for misappropriating the funds Bob originally gave her to raise their children on $ 300,000 cars and luxury clothing and accessories instead. Then there was the nasty matter of her having mucked up the children's living accomodation situation, then sneaking off in the night having stripped said home and leaving Bob with the tab to pay off the bank -not part of the original agreement; she was responsible for paying the mortage and he in exchange wouldn't sell the house so the kids could grow up in a consistent home environment ---it has been reported that he actually shares custody so the kids lack for nothing except for when they are with their mother, whose lust for luxury items takes priority over paying bills and keeping her home life running smoothly. This reportedly is led him to force the issue into court to reduce her payments...which is actually what happened, so in a way...Bob wins, because he accomplished what he set out to do.
