edward norton. he seems to never really be able to convince me that he's not edward norton, but i somehow enjoy watching how edward norton conveys what edward norton would do if he were the character that edward norton was playing. sort of the other end of the spectrum from daniel day lewis, but on the same scale of fine performers.
brad pitt. his talent is sadly overshadowed by his hunkiness and the whole brangelina thing.

I never get tired of watching him...even as horrible as his character was in The 5th Element. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

Yep!
But then I think of him in the Professional and all is forgiven.

I also loved him in Romeo is Bleeding. And even as Lord Shen in Kung Fu Panda II. I didn't even know he did the voice but I was watching the movie (not really interested ) with my 2 yo grandson and as soon as I heard that voice my ears pricked up and all of a sudden I was very interested. Jack Nicholson has been my favorite actor for a while. I admit I just like him and think he's cool, but he is unfairly accused of only playing himself in every movie. Acting is not only about appearing different, as DDL so famously does, but about conveying genuine emotion. Jack is always believable to me. Even de Niro comes across false at times. My Legacy

1. I didn't mind that Oscar: he played against his usual character type and nailed it. I know Den-zayel and his fine self can play the A) real life historical figure, and B) the shining hero, and C) perform Shakespeare with his eyes closed. So much so that I come to expect that actually. The fact that he actually made me believe for 2 hours that he was "Alonzo" in Training Day and the character transformation he did for that role was nothing short of miraculous and a testament to his craft as an actor to me.
2. You forgot the Oscar he won for GLORY 12 years prior, a film based on the first formal military unit of African American men fighting whooping the butts of the Confederacy in the American Civil War.
3. The mention of that man's name . Lawd he is aging like a fine wine, and I know that has nothing to do with nothing (least of all his acting) but um, um, um, sometimes a girl can't help herself

I will watch ANYTHING if he is in it, even Iron Man 2, which thanks to him was partially enjoyable I'm the mistake you wanna make

Very underrated. Another one of those actors with incredible range who can take you from type A to type Z without blinking an eye and you believe him every step of the way.

Me, too. When I think of all the roles he's pulled off (in my immediate memory) Ocean's 11, Hotel Rwanda, Crash, Boogie Nights, Traffic, and Devil in a Blue Dress; the dude is a chameleon.

How about Sam Rockwell? I'm firmly planted in denial

True. Either he just hasn't found the right script as you said,or he just likes doing drama/action movies better. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

Heath Ledger comes to mind off the top of my head. He was kind of a teen heartthrob, doing kind of fluffy roles like in the Patriot and the Knight's Tale, but even in some of those, like that Venice one (Casanova?) there was foreshadowing of his brilliance in hindsight. Then his performance in "Brokeback Mountain" just destroyed me. It was brilliant. Then of course the Joker in "Batman." Then poof, he was taken from us. So knows what other great performances could have touched us had he lived.
