I struggle with both of those things.

I am totally aware of my bad posture and I work at it, but I also don't want to look like I am straining and sucking in my stomach. But I know my shouldders are slouched, and while I am skinny, my posture can make me look poochy.

As for the clothes, I am tucking in my shirt for the first time. But I am surrounded by men NOT tucking them in (I work near a college) My GF says "MEN tuck in their shirts." But what if I am still a boy? lol I do agree with the fitting clothes. I always wore my clothes way too large, and I see now how much better it looks when they fit.

I also struggle with how many buttons to leave open on the shirt--one or two?

Funny (true) story:

When my nephew was little - and by little, I mean 5 or 6 years old - any time he saw a pretty girl, he would tuck in his shirt. We have no idea where he got that from - it was a totally spontaneous thing.

So cute.

lol where do they get these things?

Yeah, that helps quite a bit. I wish they had done these pictures with a few models, all different sizes.

Yeah, but I guess the point is that you can take a dude with a good physique and make him look "dumpy" with bad posture & ill-fitting clothes.

yes, it's a controlled experiment.

But I suppose some men would be discouraged by the fact that this man has a perfect body and they don't

My experience has been that no matter how good your body, bad posture makes you less attractive. I see dudes at the gym that are built and ripped, but they hunch their shoulders forward. When they look in the mirror, their delts and and traps look bigger.

But when anyone else looks at them from a different angle than from the front, they look like they're on their way to a nice humpback.

Same thing with dudes that stick their necks out. Usually it's tall guys that do that, as a reflex against being taller/different than everyone else.

Point is, you can make a good body look not-so-good with bad posture. And you can definitely make a not-so-good body look much better with good posture.

I can't tell you how many women I see every day that, but for good posture, would turn heads everywhere they went. Instead, they're always ignored because they slouch.

As far as the clothes are concerned, I think an in-shape man should definately wear clothes that fit closely to their bodies. So many men take that baggy-look too far and it can make you look sloppy or like you are carrying more weight than you really are. But, you have to make the clothes fit according to your body type. I see too many overweight and obese men who are wearing clothes that are way too small or too tight. You never want to wear anything that's going to flaunt your figure flaws. And one of the worst things an overweight man with a big, bloated belly can do is tuck his shirt in. It's looks absolutely ridiculous.eek

totally agree

I just think that some people will ignore that and only see that, yes, the guy with the nice body looks good. If they really wanted to sell this concept, they could have done the same with a guy with a bad body.

I just noticed - due to OzlemUcucu's observation about trouser room - that in the baggy clothes pictures, the guy is also slouching.

So you have a double-whammy there - slouching and ill-fitting clothes.

So what about those who stand tall, yet can't afford a decent wardrobe? This could be the group that swings the presidential election.

I'll alert the Obama campaign!

Trouser room is as important as the rant about how many button your shirt has. Specially if you have 24/7 erection and prefer tight trousers.

They looked better when my chest hair was dark. Now, for some inexplicable reason, the area where my medallions hang down on has turned green.

I guess that means my medallions are made of extra-specially good gold!

Now people are saying I have to tuck in shirts?? WTF? My sense of style tells me to wear them out and mostly do that. If you want to dress like an old man then by all means tuck your shirt in.

Now, if it's a dress shirt with a large hem/tail then it's tucked in.

I agree on the fitted shirt vs not fitted.

Good posture is always hot.

If you're not fit enough tucking in your shirt is the last thing you should do. In other words, you should have absolutely no fat around your waist area. lol

I agree about the poisture and not wearing too big clothes, but I'm not so sure if the pictures on the right really look better than what's on the left. Maybe in TV shows and magazine photographs, but you know how uncomfortable people around you tend to get if there's someone in the same room that's clearly trying to show all they got with really tight clothes? Don't act like you are in a night club trying to score a hot chick when you simply walk into the coffee room in your workplace.

Use of big belts like that is also debatable.

TUCKED IN SHIRT AND A BELT LIKE IN THAT PIC - NO!!

If a dude is going to insist on tucking in his shirt, he has to make sure that the shirt fits well and is not loose at all.

I think that if you're obese, this probably doesn't apply because you need to work on losing all that weight.

However, if you have a gut (not obese, just flabby), then I agree that you probably don't want to accentuate the spare tires, but wearing really baggy clothes probably makes it worse. There should be a middle ground.

And I would hardly say dude is genetically blessed, I'm sure he works very hard to look like that.

I'm certainly not saying people must look like this, just that you should dress to flatter your shape and dude in the example you showed looks awful. Both his shirt and pants are ill fitting and it's not even a good look in the first place....maybe in 1995.

Yeah, well I don't think they were caring about fashion, it was how the same dude looks "fat" when hunched over & wearing clothes that don't fit...the green T & jeans fit good, I kind'a agree that the khakis & blue shirt are not a "perfect" fit, but the dude has size on him so that's probably as good as it gets when wearing "normal" clothes.

Guy looks just as "fat" in the second shirt and khakis picture. His pants are pulling across his thighs and crotch, the pockets are sticking out making his hips look larger, the lower legs are too baggy and his shirt is too big, especially at the shoulders and sleeves.

I'd say that example is a pretty big fail in terms of fit and making someone look thinner or better.
