This is not true. What do you base this bold assertion on?

I hate the fucking buggers too, but believe we should think of more intelligent and less destructive solutions.

Just kill all the mosquitoes in Houston, Texas.

And this rigamarole about animals eating mosquitoes? Please.

I was told by several frog-loving radio hosts that I should not want to get rid of the frogs in my pond because they ate mosquitoes. Really? They didn't eat any that I could tell.

And here's something else - I killed all the frogs in my pond and guess what?

I haven't been overrun with mosquitoes. We get mosquitoes when it rains. If it's dry for a spell, they all die. Frogs have absolutely NOTHING to do with the mosquito population.

So you better believe that if I thought frogs would eat all the mosquitoes in my backyard, I'd find some way to co-exist with them. But they don't do a thing in that regard and so therefore all frogs that ever find their way to my backyard get squashed or run over by my lawn mower.

I don't understand why you kill 'em: just for being there or are they any kind of nuisance? You make it sound like you just don't like 'em and kill 'em for fun, which is so... horrible and violent eek eek eek

Contrarly to these arthropods fuckers, frogs are vertebrates brothers and sisters of ours and therefore should be treated with respect.

Let me be prefectly clear - although I do have fun killing them, I do not kill them for fun.

I am talking about bullfrogs that infest my pond, and croak all night, keeping me from getting any sleep at all.

I've written volumes on my fight with these loud MF'ers, but suffice to say that after a three-year Crusade, I was the victor.

Since then, it's pretty rare for bullfrogs to show up. I've cut off their food supply in the pond, so they have no reason to invade me again.

But I do see the odd frog from time to time. Mostly I just squash them, but I did get the chance to chase a couple down with my lawn mower. Although I never saw frog parts fly out of the mower, I also never saw those frogs again.

And to be totally honest, I really don't have fun killing them. You see, if I kill a frog it probably means that it's a frog that didn't come out until 10:30 - 11:00 at night - after I've already showered and gotten in bed.

So, I have to put on some shorts and shoes, and hunt those buggers down. There is never just one frog that shows up - they travel in gangs of 3 or 4. And it can take 15 - 30 minutes just to get one of those hellspawns. That means I might be hunting frogs until after midnight, and then I've got to shower all over again before I can go to bed.

Usually when I kill a frog at night, I'm so pumped that I let out an Arnold Schwarzenegger scream and then yell "Die! Die! DIE!!!!!"

I keep expecting some freaked-out neighbor to call the police but they never do.

Don't dig 'em but nah I won't advise they should all be killed...unless one gets in your arm or leg, then by all means, kill it. lol

People also use bloodworms (mosquito larve) to feed their pet fish. Pond fish, spiders, dragonflies and frogs feed off bloodworms and bats and birds feed off the adult mosquitoes.

In the bug world... if you remove one bug (or crawly creature) a nastier/bigger bug usually takes its place. Mosquitoes are bad enough.

I learned that the hard way gardening... kill off snakes, spiders take over, kill the spiders, centipedes come in droves, kill off the centipedes, then come the ants all over the place, kill the ants, then here come the roaches.... its an ongoing cycle and people are to blame when they create standing water sources for moquitoes to over breed for the most part. If I see snakes now I just leave them be. Let nature do its own thing and allow for a natural balance.

Unless... one gets in my house, then the bug must die.
