quality of music videos today compared to the past

I just have to ask that why is it that music videos today in 2012 are so heavily based on money, women & material S**T? I mean look at the music videos in the 1980s & 1990s there was creativity & diversity as compared to 2000s. In 2000s there's only emphasis on MATERIALISM, WOMEN & FAME & not enough originating or innovating. That's why I have to ask also is that the corporate music industry today gaining too much power & control on over what content we all are seeing in videos as compared to the past?

I don't know about that... hmmm

I think it could be that because of the proliferation of YouTube there's just waaaay more material out there to work with...

for example... this vid, well, this one is about penis...

actually it's about S.African circumcision rituals but hey, who's paying attention, right?

Then there's my current favorite (because I live the title...)

or you could get really real with something like this...

There's just SO MUCH out there... just try and find the good stuff...

Well the music is way better in the 80's/ 90's than today so if you don't want to hear crap I don't know why someone would want to watch crap

The "penis" video is just a mess. Although they must of spent a lot of money on it. I couldn't help but laugh at it.

I couldn't watch more than 20 seconds-too boring. I'd rather watch paint dry.

They became "overly materialistic" more than ten years ago already. I think there's been some recent ones that have attempted to be more artistic with some more experimental visual ideas. Quite often indie rock or electronic ones. You won't find that too often in R&B, really.

However, the truth is that even if I have an art degree myself I am most likely going to watch several videos with hot chicks in them in a row than stay interested in watching some artfully done videos for very long. lol

I don't know why they still make music videos since there's no music video TV channels anymore.

I don't like music videos. My feeling is, make your own memories for a song.
