Well, being the devil's advocate that I always am...I agree with the OP.

I really don't give a shit what other people do. MY OPINION is that stripping is pathetic and sad, disgusting and wrong. These girls are damaged people, and even though they may look nice on the outside, there is something terribly dysfunctional on the inside.

For them to manipulate others for money based on lust is just nasty to me. And the guys that frequent these places, don't even get me started. GROSS.

Carry on. neutral

I am perfectly okay with your opinion, Karla. It is when people put their opinions out there as if there is something wrong with YOU for thinking something different, that is a problem.

But one thing I will go with the OP on, is that I don't like strip clubs as much as I used to. But as much as I may have changed, I believe that they have changed even more.

I was never a huge fan, but when I was young, they were a place to go have a fake beer and a smoke while you watched some naked women dance. Now they are a place where you cannot be left alone for the strippers wanting to give you a lap dance. Somewhere along the line they discovered where the real money is, and while the pole dancing is still thriving, the offers for lap dances are a constant distraction.

So I would actually agree with the OP that I would probably rather see a burlesque show at this point. But it's for reasons that have nothing to do with sex.

Yeah, that's why a few times was enough for me. Some of those women would just put their leg around me, start grinding themselves against me and tell me that I should pay. Well, I did pay, but it didn't feel comfortable at all.

I hope that my earlier comment that referred to the dancers being often immigrants wasn't taken simply in the sense that "men that go to strip clubs are bad and the women are victims". I was really just more bothered how exploitative it could sometimes be according to my own experiences, from all angles involved.

That's another problem I have with the ubiquitous lap dances. Not that there is anything wrong with getting them or performing them, but to me there is a huge difference between dancing and dry humping. I wonder how much flexibility the women at those clubs have in deciding whether or not they do them.

I get the feeling it is just part of being a stripper these days. But I don't know, maybe they do have the choice. shrug

The only thing I do have a problem with is the base comment that only, what was said? "gnarly chicks" who are apparently ugly are the only ones who dislike strip clubs.

I am not ugly nor am I a gnarly chick. I just think it's really sad based on my own experience here in the Bay Area, with acquaintances who have been strippers and acquaintances who have gone regularly to strip clubs.

Let me absolve your confusion. A debate is a form of discussion. lol During the course of sharing views, one might be enlightened.

What's the conflict? What's the problem?

lol

You may clear or clarify my "confusion" - but not absolve it. That implies that my "confusion" is inherently evil/wrong.

The conflict/problem is that you posted a thread baiting us with the premise that you wanted an "answer" (why do men in their 30's and 40's still go to strip clubs), then upon closer inspection it's clear that you didn't really WANT an "answer" but rather wanted to express your disdain & disgust with the whole strip club scene, and furthermore labeled everyone disagreeing with you as mentally stunted.

Can you not see why this thread is running around in circles, flirting with getting locked?

yeahthat

Just say so from the get go.

I get that, but do you think a young girl will get hired at a club if she says she refuses to do lap dances?

The clubs makes money og of these girls every time they report 2 work. The would get hired because the club makes their money upfront.

As a regular here on the ORG I understand SynthiaRose and Ottensen point of views and they are both right. I think the main fail of this thread is Synthiarose didn't really want a debate she wanted to lecture. An unsolicited lecture disguised as a debate can piss people off, even a condescending one.

I never have been into strip clubs, they kind of bore me because it's all fake-but I love naked women. But, what doesn't get me off, may get others off. So, why do I judge someone who says for example they like heavy S&M and I don't? Am I more enlightened because of it? Probably not.

I remember HBO doing a story on a lady stripper who had an IQ of over 160, she enjoyed her customers and the job, and for her it was a passion that made her a lot of money.

I haven't gone in years to a strip club, that doesn't mean I wouldn't hang out in one with some of the ORG members here...,because they are kewl in my book.

And yes the clubs are exploiting, but so is Wallmart with their employees and the people that make their products.

Keep the thread open and let a real discussion show the real you. Can't we all take the heat? Even if a person is being condescending.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

This thread is pure GOLD!

Idk why anyone is putting down the strippers... they are the smart ones! Using what they have to make ASS loads of money off people who are willing to just throw it at them all for showing their tits...

To sit in JUDGEMENT over something that is LEGAL is so silly..

I dont go to strip clubs, i have never been to one.. it doesnt appeal to me.. but does that make it wrong because that is how I feel.. I dont expect everyone to believe as I do... Christ some people are assholes all in the name of morality... Which is not a far jump in spelling from MORON

Why the hell shoudl I communiate with someone with an open mind. Have you seen these responses? ARe they open-minded? No, but you won't say shit to them because mob action against someone with higher principles is OK, right? Happens all the time, not impressed. Go ahead and join the fucking mob .

I know exactly what I'm doing today. I ignored this entire thread yesterday -- so yeah I"m baiting? rolleyes -- and then seeing all this shit, you really think I"m not comign with a machine gun.

I dont' give a fuck right now. I posted a thread with good intentions and I am not the one that took it in the other direction. And it's not my nature to roll over and play goodytwoshoes while people talk shit.

Oh, don't take it personally. You're sort of new here so your opinion is going to be squashed. If youwere a regular person here whom everyone knew and admired, they would just take your opinion and respond accordingly without mockery. Just another day at the org.

No one is trying to squash her opinion, but she sure as hell tried to squash the opinion of others and did so pompously, and therein lies the issue of why people are irritated, myself included. You can keep that join the mob noise to yourself, because the proof is in the pudding of Synthia's posts if you want to start throwing around the word mockery. This ain't got jack to do with mob action or new people having opinions squashed, it's about knowing how to talk to people like you have some f**k**g sense, period. By no means would I EVER suggest that someone can't or should not defend their opinion or point of view honestly and fiercely- some of the best threads in the history of this board have been comprised of a cornucopia of views that contrast like day and night skies. But if one is going to engage in debate, discussion, or whatever you want to call it from here to eternity, then please learn how to do so respectfully, without insulting people and insulting their intelligence in the process, end of. twocents

I'm sorry, but I've been here long enough to see this type of thread over and over and over again. It's her opinion, and I would expect someone like yourself to let it go. You need to read this entire thread, there IS a mob mentality here. I myself find that people who frequent strip clubs are low class and possibly stunted in some way. So what? She has every right to say what she wants to, and if someone has a problem with it, then by all means, report it.

You're talking to someone who has seen this shit time and time again. The unpopular opinion gets vilified, and the mob insults to no end, but it's the individual who is fighting off the onslaught that is at fault. GTFOOHWTB. (No offense intended biggrin)

I guess it depends on the "level" of the club

a expensive/pseudo-exclusive strip club, no hell naw, only if the ladies wanna make some xtra money (and I mean BIG xtra money)

but a small, next-to-the-road strip club..., as someone said = a "dancing bordello" lol

Yeah that's what I was referring to (the low rent ones biggrin ) but I doubt an expensive one would tolerate that nastiness as you said. wink
