I've heard Adam Carolla say a few times on his podcast: the only reason we think a lot of the shows from back in the day were so awesome is because we didn't have a million entertainment options back then. I can't say I disagree with that.

"classic" tv? whofarted

TV has always been about cheese, cheese and more cheese

Sure, TV was more entertaining back in the day, but the cheese was there already; now it's just expensive, boring, self-important cheese

Other than a couple of the judge shows and "The Walking Dead", I don't watch TV. I have a lot of these classic sitcoms on DVD and that's what I primarily watch every night. I HATE all of those reality shows and even the sitcoms and dramas that I do manage to stumble upon, I don't find any of them very entertaining.

Are you saying the Kardashians aren't classy enough?!?

In all seriousness, reality TV has put the serious screws to scripted TV. I guess all the good writers are now writing for those unscripted reality shows.

hmm I guess its just me but I remember a lot of those shows being unbearably cheesy, even worse than the bunts from todays era.

I will give people... that music & movies may have had a high heyday....

But T.V? forgive me but i think T.V has been in it's golden age since the 90's!

Don't get me wrong the classica are well... classic biggrin , but from the 90's you had shows that where more daring, that showed more. Had more character devolpment & where risky in the stoires, designs, language etc.

Grant it there is still shit on t.v, but the quality of so many shows just now is amazing.

Mad Men

Dexter

Breaking Bad

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Fringe

Shameless

The Walking Deas

And lots of other great one's...

Hel in just the last decade and a half we had

The Sopranos

The Wire(My all time favorite)

Six Feet Under

The Shield

Nip/Tuck

Rescue Me

Buffy

Angel

OZ

Damages

I think those shows pushed boundaries & story telling way more then a lot of classic shows did lurking

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

TV has become better do to competition and it has become worse at the same time. We have trash TV reality shows and well written and acted scripted shows in which 1 show can build an entire network's image.

I would agree with most of Gun's list.

I would add Seinfeld, Rosanne, Will and Grace, Frasier, and Friends to the great list of comedies. Great comedies are not really available on the air right now. There may be some good ones, but not in the ranks of truly great yet.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
