clapping I think she was well spoken in her response. I was bullied for my weight (under weight) by girls @ my highschool. It was horrible! Those types of comments are learned and passed on to others. By speaking out publicly she put this man and others on notice. Why would anyone think they need to point out someone elses issues? That man was out of line! Period![b]

We don't know that for sure if anyone has done it because all of a sudden, Al Roker slimmed down.

Al Roker slimmed down for a time but he's not as slim as before and I certainly don't think a big issue would be made of it the way it is for women. It seldom is.

This woman is the first overweight newswoman I've seen, speaking for myself, but as long as I get the news report and the weather, I don't care how they look nod

i've been wondering this as well. we feel free to criticize those who have an addiction to heroin, an addiction to alcohol, or to gambling. in fact we order them into treatment and rather expect them to feel shame about their self-induced condition. yet when it comes to obesity.... this is somehow different. our skyrocketing health costs will skyrocket even more due to this obesity epidemic, and we will all pay a price for this issue, but it is still taboo to direct criticism at folks who occupy two seats on the plane, bus or theater.

mind you, i understand that we ALL have issues to face in life, no exceptions. but this prohibition aaginst speaking out on this particular issue is really really weird, to my way of thinking.

by the way, the anchorwoman in question is more or less being overwhelmingly supported in her tirade, as you'll see if you check out different news sites' discussion boards.

Well, this is no surprise, most of those supporting her are likely relating to her because they share the same struggles with weight and therefore feel just as insulted. It's totally understandable.

It's really shitty that some people subsequently gain weight because of lifestyle choices and others don't.

But that's life.

A) it's not a strangers place to tell ANYONE about their weight or lifestyle, only the doctor, close family or friends should be the one to talk to them..belittling someone because they are overweight will probably make things WORSE..most weight problems are just as much mental as genetics

B) looking at JustErin profile..how would you like it if strangers walked up to you and said you are too old(38 is pretty old) to be portraying yourself as "hip and cool" I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it even though it's the truth.

C) Your right "that's life" but why make life any worse for other people just because you feel you should? AFAIC people now have a right to tell an out gay news anchor that his lifestyle is unhealthy and a bad example

that is all

She did right. If the motherfucker doesn't want to watch her, he can easily turn the channel. But he went so far as to send an email to her to get her attention. He's not concerned with her health, he's concerned with being an asshole and hoping he'll piss her off. He wanted her attention and he got it and but didn't give his ass the response he wanted. She did exactly right in her response by asking him if he thinks she doesn't already know she's fat which makes him end up looking like a fucking idiot. Hell, she knows she's fat, she's got a mirror, and she doesn't need anyone else to tell her she is because she already knows it.

Her only responsibility to the public is to report the news and newscasters come in all shapes and sizes. We have many fat newscasters in my area. Most of them have been on the air since the 1970s and weren't fat then but over the years, they have gotten fat. But they are local "personalities" and the public loves them. Even some of the newer ones hired lately have been fat. We don't live in a perfect world where everybody looks like they're starving and people want to see likeable people over the air rather than some model with no personality whatsoever simply "reading" the news.

Well said dude. I don't think his letter has anything to do with bullying but he cameoff as a complete asshole. Who the fuck is he to tell her about her weight and the

responsibility she has to young people. Her responsibility is to do her job and take care

of herself and family if she's married. Please spare me the bullshit he was trying to

help her or offer her advice. He was out of line and a complete jerk. We've never seen

overweight news or sports analysts? Does Al Roker ring a bell(although he's done something about it.) I can't remember the name of the guy who used to do the

Today show with him back in the nineties but he was a little overweight too.

John Kruk is an overweight analyst who does Baseball Tonight. There are 3 overweight

news reporters for WBTV in charlotte where i live so i'm not buying his nonsense.

Yeah, it's cute.

I had a good laugh reading it because a) out of all the many things to choose from to try and insult me, the "hip and cool" choice cracked me up and b) the "that's life" has nothing to do with this particular situation and was only in reference to people having different metabolisms.

And the "that is all" was hilarious too. lol
