I'm a sloucher...probably the result of being in front of a computer for the past 15 years.
Trying to straighten my posture.
Also - I no longer keep my wallet in my back pocket when sitting. It's the WORST for your spine. I have been doing that for a few months now, and amazingly when I forget to take it out now before sitting down, it BOTHERS me. Funny how you can get used to certain things. I check my posture and it's terrrible. Then I sit up and check it again in five seconds, only to find it is terrible again. My Legacy

Posture is important... but some people have different shoulder lines.
Some shoulder lines are square, some are sloped (so it looks as if they are slouching but are not) , and some people have a dropped or raised shoulder due to a natural curvature of the spine.
Not everyone has regular tapered shoulders.
But yes, standing up straight is always good... it is also good to stop carrying such a heavy purse and wear proper fitting shoes. It makes a difference.

I have terrible posture, but now that I'm working out more, I'm noticing my posture is improving. And when I consciously try to improve it, it definitely helps.

My posture is completely and undeniably HORRIBLE!
I think I'm getting a hump in my back as a result of it. surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water
I ain't felt this way in years...

Mine's been playing me up something terrible just lately. I'm surprised to find myself writing about it on the internet though. I should eat more fruit really but since I'm not keen on that much of it I can find myself becoming a little irregular, if you get my drift. If you suffer with chronic piles like I do, irregularity is a bad, bad thing. Better to be squeezing a few nuggets out every day if at all possible. Fybrogel can help but you really should be eating plenty of fruit and vegetables if you want to keep everything all ship-shape and in Bristol fashion.
Oh hold on a minute... Ok... I do apologise, I'm a little tired and haven't topped up on my concentration today... Right, So, after a brief scan of the thread again, I see you're actually talking about posture, as apposed to posterior as I first thought.
My posture could be a lot better. I often find myself hunched over the computer, peering feverishly into all sorts of things and I have noticed some back pain whilst doing so. To try to relieve this, just lately when using the computer, I've taken to wearing my trousers around my waist instead of around my ankles and there have been signs of improvement.
I'll try to remember what I can of your mantra and I'm now sitting proudly with my head up, shoulders back and my tits out.

I'm unsure of the meaning of the words "Slouch", "Slouching" or "Sloucher" used here. Forgive me if I'm mistaken but I'm assuming they pertain to masturbating? Or slouching, if you will.
If you consider my intial confusion and re-read the thread as I first read it, replacing the word posture with posterior and translating the meaning of having a bit of a slouch with your cup of tea, you'll perhaps forgive me for any misunderstandings.
I realise I may possibly be foreign to you or your vocabulary and I apologise, wholeheartedly, once again, with my tits out.

My posture is almost too good.
When I was a kid, we sat on stools (no backs) to eat at a counter in our kitchen. (There wasn't room for a table and we only ate in the dining room on special occasions because there was carpeting that my mother didn't want to have cleaned all the time.) If we weren't sitting perfectly straight, my mom would come up behind us and pull our shoulders back. She did not tolerate slouching.
I also spent years sitting stock straight on a piano bench.
As a result, I have very square shoulders and a back that has virtually no curve. It makes it hard for me to find tops and dresses that fit perfectly, since my back-waist length is shorter than average. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The biggest secret about bad posture in many slouchers.... it's their hamstrings and behind the knee tendons, which have atrophied to be too tight. You need to stretch your hamstrings so that you can touch your toes easily by only bending at the waist, not curving your back. Kind of like trying to touch your shoulders to your knees, with straight legs...
Also when you walk you should almost be letting your pelvis lead, not your head or shoulders.
And of course head up on a long neck like a brachiosaur. In your imagination.
