Yeah, I'm going. I don't have a lot of issues with Tyler. Alex Cross used to be one of my favorite book characters, then after a while it just got too overboard. So yeah, I'm interested to see what he does with the character. Unfortunately, the reviewer here, who actually had a face to face interview with Tyler wasn't impress. Haven't seen rotten tomatoes rating, but I highly doubt they'd give it positive reviews. Besides I'm behind on my theatre movies, I've got to catch up this weekend, this should give me a full plate, if I can.

It is nice to see a gay man playing the lead in an action-thriller, though.

Not that that's any incentive to see it.

But yay, progress.

I'm no fan of Tyler's own work, but I'm wiling not to assume this is gonna suck. He might surprise us.

That said, I've got no plans as yet on checking this out.

He just doesn't convince me that he's going to be entertaining as an action lead. shrug

Same here. I like the lady that will be playing his wife, UK actress Carmen Ejogo (you'll probably recognize her for resurrecting the character of Sister in the recent re-make of Sparkle). I'd like to support her films, I think she deserves bigger roles.

He doesn't convince me as Alex Cross, for me that character has a more sexual/physical presence that I just don't find in Tyler. One of the local reviewer didn't find him convincing either after watching the movie, but they said the movie was alright. But, as wonderful of an actor Morgan Freeman is, I think that Tyler may portray the spirit of the character far better. Not as a senior near retiring hemit, which I think I'm more interested in. And maybe Tyler can act a bit. As I said I don't have anything against him.

I've read a few Alex Cross novels and I'm dying to see how Perry will intrepret the character.

I'm going to go see either Looper or Frankenweenie.
Two films that if you overlap them together, you'll probably get one of those Madea movies.

Granted the wife is crucial in the books, she doesn't have a bigger role in them and that's all I'm saying for now.

Those previews look AWFUL.

Tyler Perry CANNOT ACT! Seeing him attempt to act serious is boderline laughable.

With so many black actors trying to find work why did they give it to Tyler? He has hundreds of millions of dollars!

Idris Elba (with his fine self) would have been perfect for this film!

Sorry Tyler, if you're not in a dress you're not convincing. Won't be watching this mess.
