Who Remembers Unsolved Mysteries?

The show actually started 3 years before i was born lol , but in the early 00's i became obsessed with watching the re-runs on lifetime & also the new episodes that sometimes came on.

Robert Stack's voice was freaking destinty for a show like this!, his dark, booming voice added so much to each story that was told.

I always liked this show more then Americas Most Wanted(A great show as well) Because it didn't focus on just criminals... but on the supernatural, aliens, people trying to re-connect with family etc

I loved that show. I still watch it from time to time when I catch it on. It was a little creepy with that dude hosting it. lol I don't like they way they changed it to that other non-creepy sounding guy....made it a little less engaging. lol

What show was always the creepiest was Autopsy.

The reenactments where... well didn't have the best acting in the early years lol

But as it went on production you could tell was a lot higher budget & they made some really great reenactments that made the story even more engaging biggrin

I do hate hearing about those that where never solved sad , when i was young i would get so excited when i would see the same story pop up on another show & thank OMG there will be an update! and sometimes when there wasn't i would be like hrmph

Classic. cool

But only the Robert Stack ones. Again, these dimwits didn't know how good they had it and got another guy after Stack died and he wasn't about shit lol

confused KIDA i forgot ALL about that show... wow lol

That show had a lot of buzz in the 90's right before HBO got it's big break with Oz & The Sopranos.

Oh & i agree... i feel bad. But i just can't dig the newer Unsolved Mysteries.. i realize the focus of the show is the stories. But Dennis Farina just was not as engaging or had the presence Robert Stack had.

I used to love that show nod. The tone of it was very good, & watching it in the dark would always make me look around a little bit, no matter what room I was in lol

Autopsy always scared the shit out of me. I was a grown ass woman scared to go upstairs to my own bed. And I would be creeped out over the stories that couldn't possibly happen to me. Like the one about the dr that robbed his girlfriend's body from her grave, preserved her, created a mask for her, had sex with her every night. Creepy fucking shit!

The creepers Autopsy I saw was the one about the doctor who stole his wifes body out of the crypt, brought it up to his house and tried to preserve it. Reattached her hair....replaced her cookie with summin he could fuck...and kept her up in the upstairs bedroom till someone finally complained about the smell or summin...fuckin gross.

Oh...oops...u already brought up the episode I just did. Michael Baden...the doc...always seemed somewhat unprofessional...but he was used in a lot of court cases, so I suppose he was credible. Wast he involved in the OJ Simpson case too....that doesn't help.

There was also a thing in HBO about the Iceland....a Whitman for the mob. He was in the same jail as his brother. They called him the ice man cuz he often froze Jim victims and threw them out to be found months after their deaths so they couldn't pinpoint their date of death. He used cyanide....chains, ropes, chainsaw, guns, bare hands....ANYthing that got the job done. He had NO regrets, nor ANY degree of remorse. True psychopath status. Had no qualms whatsoever about killing a person. Didn't enjoy it...didn't detest it....it was just like "meh" for him....seemed like it payed well and he was able to do it...so he did.

I almost forgot about that show, I used to watch back in elementary school, and would get saddened about the cases involving violence against women and children.

Another good one was New York Undercover, but by then I was limiting tv to music videos and using the rest of the time for homework and going online sometimes.

Unsolved Mysteries used to scare the shit out of me. The music is what got me. Scary as hell, then combine that with Robert Stack's voice...shucks, the Chiller channel should put these re-runs on for Halloween. lol

HBO's Autopsy is my shit! nod And yes it's creepy as hell, but I still love it. They go further into the stories on Autopsy and show more graphic photos...unlike Unsolved Mysteries, there were very few re-enacted scenes by actors. Instead they would actually show the real buildings of where the crimes took place, that alone made my skin crawl.

I remember the one where this young man re-called that he had a sister but his family denied it...later on they found that his mother and older brother had murdered his twin sister when she was like 2, because she knocked a cup on the floor or something and the mother and older brother beat her to death. Then they put her body in a trunk and just stacked boxes and stuff on top of it. Twenty plus years later, police got involved, found the trunk and the skeleton of the little girl. I think the mother still denied the whole thing but she and the older brother ended up being arrested and the young man was able to finally bury his sister properly.

nod Why?! Why?1 WHY! What network did that show, because that sounds like something dumbass NBC would do. lol

That show could get deep. I remember a couple of cases but the one that stands out: The young boy who was discovered dead in the in Arkansas woods, after he left with his parents permission for an over night hunting trip. There was some discrepancies on what killed this boy, but it wasn't an accidental self-inflicted shot as was first reported. Later on there was some rumors he ran up on (Regan adminsration Iran-Contra) CiA using a remote small airport to bring drugs into the country from Central America. Later on the parents claimed they recieved a phone call from a guy, telling them in affect... Their son was at the wrong place at the wrong time. "They" were so sorry but it would be in their interest to drop the questions about his death. eek
