migraines On more than one occasion this summer, I have had terrible migraines that ended with vomiting, it just happened yesterday too. And nothing is wrong with me either, though I don't want to be sick long term | |

I used to get them as a kid.
I remember getting these HORRIBLE headaches - usually centered around the back of my left eye. I would get nauseous and had to lie in a dark room.
However, I believe that I was dehydrated for the most part as a kid. I hated - HATED - the taste of water, so I drank soda and Koolaid all the time. If it wasn't syrupy & sweet, I wouldn't drink it. Didn't care for apple juice or orange juice either...my favorite? Pineapple juice! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! | |

About a year ago I started getting them on and off before and during that time of the month! Really severe ones! I've found out its a mix of hormonal change, magnesium deficiency, lack of sleep and stress. In some people it's the foods they eat. Do you know what triggers yours? Once your migraine is full force, your stomach doesn't absorb meds so take them before it's too late! Maxalon stops the nausea if the migrine gets that far, you can have tablets or get a jab. I now take maxalt and it's really fast working and thorough but expensive and you have to take it as soon as your headache strikes. Do you get a visual disturbance before the migraine? | |

I've been getting migraines since I was 12 years old. They've gotten pretty bad in the last 2 years or so, most likely because things have been extremely stressful for me at times. There's been times that I haven't been able to see at all for a few seconds when they start (happened to me once while I was driving ). All I can do is just lay in the dark and silence. I can't stand up and walk around or talk to anyone or be around lights as it makes it a lot worse. | |

My headaches (of various kinds, including migraines) have pretty much gone away since I've gotten my hormones sorted.
What I get more often that not, is a migraine aura - but no headache. It starts with my eyes going sort of "funny" - like I can't focus on anything. And then, I'll see flashing lights in parts of my visual field...or it'll look like someone has smeared the lenses of my glasses with Vaseline...or like I'm looking at things through water. Sometimes, I have several episodes in a row - each lasting a half hour or so.
I haven't had one of those in a long time, though - which is good. Very scary if it happens while you're driving. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |

I do a lot of shift work and though I try to maintain an even sleep cycle, I did go off a few times this month, resulting in lack of sleep. I do get stressed very easily too and sometimes weaker before and after that time of month, so it's possible it could be hormonal. I find when I have water or even a tylenol to relieve a migraine, I throw it up right away like you're mentioning. I couldn't keep my food down well yesterday and am dreading eating right now. I wouldn't be surprised if I was a little dehydrated right now, but I have too many things to do to see someone about it this week.

I get ocular migraines often. My eyes are like looking through a kaleidoscope for about an hour. Then I get a horrible headache that can last 4-8 hours. Usually seems to be hormone related. | |

i can relate.....i think mine were stress related, we had our house up for sale in march & i was also losing sleep.
My dr put me on Amitriptyline, & it has helped the severity & frequency of the migraines about 70%. Also helps me to nod off at night (good , since i always had insomnia)
if u dont want to take a daily med....try zomig or relpax. oh i sometimes get the "aura" it is pretty bizarre but usually lasts a few hrs. try to drink alot of water & get enough sleep. good luck | |

water is not helping me you guys, it's just making me more sick
tonight I was feeling awful at my job and was having water after my food and wanted to throw up a few times, but held back...didn't have a headache but felt weak
and last night at madonna's show, I had a good time, but got stressed emotionally just before I reached there and ended up having moments of fatigue and having pain all over, especially in my legs and chest area, and one time I nearly lost my balance and had to grab something though I don't think I was going to faint, I wasn't manic there though I did get energetic at times when a classic came on and I was on my feet | |

From what you describe, I think you really need to go to the doctor.
But also, drink Pepsi or Coke. The caffine will help with the headache, and the cola should help settle your stomach.
I've had horrible mirgraines for years, and am one a whole mess of daily and as needed medication, but my neurologist is great and really helps me find something that works.

There's seems to be a hereditary element to mine. I found out a few years ago that my dad gets ocular migraines, too. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |

I don't drink pepsi or coke, even mj adverts won't make me I drink ginger ale when I have problems, but the last time I did it a few months ago, I couldn't keep it down
I did some stretches and feel some relief, but it's coming back. I keep self diagnosing myself with something everyday, right now I think I have FMS or chronic fatigue syndrome | |

I imagine I have something like that too, fibromyalgia as well If I do something one day (and it doesn't have to be anything strenuous) I'm useless the next day - wrecked. I'm the walking example of the push-crash cycle A lot of the time I have to take painkillers to sleep because I'm aching so bad. I'd like to exercise more, but the pain I get is not the good kind.
I can't be bothered to go do more blood tests, especially for that, which seems to be diagnosed by eliminating everything else. Also, my mum told me that disorder is imaginary anyway so I can't possibly have it - it's all in my mind
I do what the doc told me and am working to get my vitamin levels up, and at the moment have cut out sugar, refined carbs and alcohol to see if my wellbeing improves (I already had cut out lactose and gluten) it has definitely helped my mood. I'm the mistake you wanna make | |

yeah fibro is fms (my cousin has it) and I wouldn't be surprised if I had it too cause areas where I got injured few years ago and areas around it act up the most and I'm moody and agitated so much. I'm nocturnal often, and when I crash I have hypersomnia and insomnia episodes. Today I want painkillers so bad but told myself to never take them and try something natural if I ever do anything, like vitamins like you mentioned. The other day I decided to stop putting sugar in my tea but can't give it up. Is lactade milk okay? | |

Don't take any notice of people who say its in your head, if you don't feel well most of the time, you probably aren't! | |

My mom gets them too. Yep, in the genes. I had a horrible one in the hospital a day after having my son. The dr that did my surgery came around to check on me and I was in the beginning stages of the ocular part. He told me that I need to have it checked out since my mom's family have a history of aneurysms and blood clotting. | |

Have had chronic migraine since I was five. I still remember the very first one.
At the age of 41, doctors finally prescribed me a preventative that has worked. I haven't had a migraine in months as opposed to two or three per week.
The drug is called Metoprolol and it is awesome! It's also for high blood pressure and angina. | |

Aww man, i also use to get them as a kid. What i hated the most was the auras. Mine were spots and flashes. Looking back i probably was chronically dehydrated as well.
I still get them but not nearly as frequent and severe(no spots). [Edited 9/16/12 17:41pm] Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon. | |

sometimes i see those when about to fall asleep if i feel tension
and today I felt fatigue and nearly threw up before leaving home though I ate, but forced myself and developed a headache an hour later, like spasms :*(

I stopped eating sugar (except for some Lindt dark chocolate on saturdays ) and wheat since I've been suspecting a gluten sensitivity, and alcohol last couple of weeks - and during all that time no migraine I have drinking water and green tea like it's going out of fashion - I bet it IS a hydration issue for me too I'm the mistake you wanna make | |

I'm trying to reduce drinking tea, I would have 2 cups before, now I'm just sticking to one a day to see if it makes a difference (plus you lose water with tea), and will put 1 sugar instead of two and drink more water. I keep saying I'll have more juice but keep forgetting cause I don't like it much, and it's processed anyways.

I have a few horrific days and I often need a little nap at lunch time, which makes me feel very lazy! I just feel a great relief being diagnosed because I thought I was a total hypochondriac! | |

yeah, same happened to me. I thought of myself as a complete lazy bitch, I wasn't even trying to keep up with housework for the last maybe 5 years. When I went to the doc last year she looked at me in amazement and told me with iron levels as low as mine how could I even stand up?!? I cried.
At first I turned inwards and cocooned myself with a layer of self-pity, I worked hard to get myself BETTER (I recognised that fatigue, anxiety, depression, lethargy, pain and apathy weren't really ME). Six months later after various treatments and not feeling any better I gave up again, depressed. Only now I am starting to be more optimistic and concentrate on my health PROPERLY after realising that I was getting all these new things, sciatica, heartburn, snoring, that I am putting down to gaining weight - one of the medications my doc suggested I try made me fat I'm the mistake you wanna make | |

Why do you have such severe anaemia? Do they know? Having chronic illness really sucks when you have kids and are expected to b a super mum! On the other hand, it really makes you appreciate the little things! It toughens you up in a way too! | |
