Total impulse buy today. I'm not one to impulse buy when it comes to bringing a little life home...but...my son and I fell in love with a tiny Guinea Pig today, so you know, we had to get her. I've had rabbits, rats and mice but never one of these little things.
Her name is Olive and she is adorable.

I remember buying my first guinea pig, my family always calls those types "roadkill pigs" Still, its sooo damn cute!!!!! You should consider buying an igloo if you havent already, pigs love to hide in dark spots. If you let it go running (which is always fun) your probably gonna spend 20 minutes fishing it out from under a dresser by luring it with carrots. [Edited 9/22/12 18:51pm]

Yeah, I need to get her a little house tomorrow. For tonight we just overturned a little box and cut open a door for her.
I can't let her roam free as I have a dog and 3 cats. We will let her go buck wild in our biggest bathroom every day, though.

Wow, I am going to admit it, that wasn't the first thing to pop into my mind.
First thought was a sexy dress or vibrator. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Awww Oive is cute and I like the name! My mom did the impulse guinea pig buying a few weeks ago. We were in the pet store getting food for her dogs. She asked if she could buy her grandson his first pet..... he has a saliva allergy to dogs and we cannot have a cat where we are at the moment. She knows I really miss having a pet. It has been over 2 years, the longest I have ever gone without a dog. So she got him one and he named her Peanut.
She is sweet but always hungry and very messy. We went to 3 different pet stores that day, my mom picked her because of her spikey hair on her head. The pet store was not sure of her sex but from what I can tell she is a girl.
We need to trim her toenails, they are very long. I was waiting til she warmed up to us to try to trim them. She was out in my sons room the other night running and playing with a stuffed turtle he has. It was cute, he loved watching her hop & pop.

And if you don't know where they have run off too after escaping the cage...think TWICE before jumping on that cushion on the floor.

If you can "kennel up" the other pets, the guinea pig would LOVE to walk around in one of those plastic bubbles on the main floor of your home.

Peanut woke up my son this afternoon from his nap which he was really upset about because he has a cold and had finally settled down to sleep again. She spent a week with my mom when we were on vacation and she learned to recognize the sound of the fridge door opening so when ever someone goes in the fridge she squeals really loud. My mom kept her on the dining room table so she could see the kitchen so she watched the dogs line up in the morning and my mom get in the fridge for her veggies & fruit. We should have named her piglet!

Awww...cute.
Has she started 'chirping' yet? I had Guinea Pig as a kid and everytime I past the basement door Chewy would chirp.

As long as she doesn't turn into a fuckface.
We are very respectful with her. We want to handle her so she is used to us but we also make sure we don't smother her.
