And speaking of Asian males who wear makeup:

JOSE FROM LOVE & HIP HOP ATL WHICH TRAGICALLY AIRED ON VH1 AND REVIVED ALL MANNER OF STEREOTYPING. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer.

GRITZ! This is horrendous though. The lipstick's too loud, the nails are badly done, yellow (the fuck?), that's not even a good androgynous look.

What about Robert Smith from the Cure? My husband insists that he must be gay! But he so isn't! I used to have a lot of heterosexual male goth friends who would borrow my makeup when I was a teen!

Yeah Robert's a pioneer of the androgynous goth stuff. He's definitely hetero lol he's been married to the same woman for over 20 (or 30) years now.

is still a stigma, at least in the western world
people (by "people" I basically mean straight guys/girls/men/women) laughed the hell out of me (I heard the words queer, faggot, Mr.Vain, Mr.Hamilton, so many times that I gave up),
"are you an actor?", that's another line I frequently heard ... No I'm not a friggin' actor, just a guy influenced by Prince, I guess, lol
"is not really necessary" another line I heard everytime someone "discovered" I had make-up on; yeah, it may not be "necessary", but damn: it WORKS, specially if your lifestyle only allows you to sleep 6 hours (7 if you're lucky)
now I only use some make-up for friday-saturday nights...it gives me that xtra confidence/glow and ladies (in general) seem to appreciate it as well...

I can imagine. Even putting on nail polish makes people go "wait are you gay dude?" Like what does putting on nail polish gotta have anything to do with what I do in the bedroom?

I just cannot understand some folks; one time, I even received snide remarks about my "perfectly" shaved face , mad world indeed

Asian Goth boys are also very very striking.
I love the way Goth men look on the internet but don't know any that look like that in my neck of the woods. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Well if you live in an area where not too many look like that, seeing one will probably stand out from the crowd. I saw my share of goths in high school.

He always reminded me of the Joker

No, I don't think he did That would be a little extreme. That was just another rumour. I believe James Brown did though, or eyebrows...but wasn't that because something had happened.
On topic with the thread I think that if a guy can wear make up right and don't go full out drag its really sexy. I dig the androgynous look. [Edited 10/6/12 14:44pm] ~ You're a desire, I get higher every time I speak your name ~

Joker wore make up | |

I know this is a very old thread, but none the less I wanted to say something about it.
When people thing of "men in make-up" they think of YOUNG MEN.
David Bowie pretty much stopped wearing so much after his mid 30's.
Like women, as you get older heavy make-up makes you look goulish.
Buuuut in my opinion, Goths might be the ones who can pull it off,
Because, isn't it not O.K, for Goths to look a bit goulish even when young?
So, Marilyn Manson, more metal than Goth, was recently on tour, He wore make-up, mostly skillfully applied to camoflage his double chin, but it did not look so bad.
Other than him, Prince, Little Richard, I can' t think of anyone else who is rocking the older man in make-up look. The late Quentin Crisp probably did it best. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.
