Looks like some asshole is stealing from my kid at school

My son came home from school earlier this week saying his hat went missing. Ok, I thought he obviously just misplaced it. But lost and found didn't have it, bus didn't have it, it was just gone.

Now today he comes home without his JACKET. He told me that he took it off at recess and placed it by the swings or whatever and when he went to get it a few minutes later, it was gone. Checked lost and found - nothing.

The school in response just shrugged their shoulders.

I'm so pissed off. You can't dress your kids in decent clothes without having some other fuckface take it??? He's in grade 2!!!

The only other jacket he has now is his leather one and I'm afraid that one will get stolen for sure. sad

I want to punch someone in the face right now.

That's why I always kept my jacket on when I was at school. I was always leery of people stealing my shit. The school system, the way it is, don't care to investigate this. Sad what happened to your son.

I had this issue happen more than once.

1. Write his name in his clothes, seriously.

2. It may be a bully taking his stuff and throwing it in the garbage. This happened with my son's hats and scarves.... until I dealt with the bully and that bullie's mom. Bitch.

3. It may be another kid that took the jacket and placed it in a random place - on a desk or random piece of furniture inside the building and there it will stay until someone FINALLY places it in the lost and found.

This happened to my son's sweater, a kid picked it up and left it on a radiator for over a week.

FYI... teachers never care about articles of clothing that go missing, they can't be bothered for the most part. It is extremely rare when a teacher takes that much time with any student, teachers only like to point out if a kid is out of uniform or are wearing innapropriate clothing. That's it.

So, ask a lunch mother.... a lunch mother will find a kid's missing jacket. nod I kid you not.

Name is on his stuff - school policy.

Nothing was found in garbage, all bins were checked today. sad

His grandmother took him back to school this afternoon and they searched everywhere - outside and inside the school - nothing.

I am going to the school early tomorrow morning to see what I can do.

It is definitely a school with haves and have-nots unfortunately. It's a rural school in a town of only 5000 people. My neice has been teased for being a "rich" kid because she told them that she goes to the movies with us several times a month.

sigh

hmmm

Sounds like it could be a thief. I would show the teacher a picture of your kid in the missing article of clothing (if you have one) or a regular pic from a catalog... then remain stubborn about getting you kid's jacket back.

Maybe after you find it you can donate it to a coat drive if you want... but yeah, be a nuisance until the coat is found and returned to him.

Notes written to the administration and the teacher and emails should be made. Do not call them, and emails can be used as evidence later on against the school for non-action IF it is an issue with a bully/thief.

I hope he gets his belongings back soon.

No, no...I'm not going to do anything like that. Plus I really have no proof of anything. He is only 7 so I'm sure they will all say he just lost it on his own.

But after getting in trouble this week for "losing" his hat. There is no way he would just lose his jacket like this. He is terrified now that he is going to get in trouble for this.

Which brings me to this stupid policy the school has. If a kid comes to school with a jacket on, they have to wear it at recess. Well, this morning it was only 7 degrees, but this afternoon it went up to 24. No wonder he took it off!

disbelief Jeez. You'd think common sense is something they should be modeling for children. You live in freaking Canada - that's what the weather is like. It's like that here too. In spring and fall I am always wearing a coat in the morning that you don't need later in the day.

batman First of all this kind of crime we leave up to the Marvel Heroes (They are good at getting a cat out of a tree). Since the school just shrugged off Erin tell the Principal you may get the police involved. Just threaten to, like I said that might light a fire under their ass and they might be a little more pro-active.

I think I might talk to the principal and ask if she would be willing to make a comment about it in her morning announcement.

Something like, "We have had some complaints about articles of clothing going missing. Students are very upset about having things taken from them. If you know anything about this, please be kind and return these items anonymously in the lost and found."

Something like that. shrug

Ugh. I have total sympathy for you. My kids have been back only 5 days and i've already lost 2 School Jumpers. Sometimes they turn up in lost property, but not often.

I've overheard more than one parent say that they look in lost property, find a jumper their kids size and just take it anyway and cut off the name label. pissed

I brought 8 school jumpers last year and only had one left by the time they broke up for summer holidays.

Sounds like the school needs a series of assemblies on the subject of RESPECT.

If it isn't yours keep your mitts off it.

"If you see a jacket and its not yours and you take it THAT IS STEALING."

Sorry this is happening.

Well, I already went out and replaced the items. Luckily I was able to find both as they were brand new items and the stores still had them in stock.

Like painted suggested, if the originals do eventually turn up I'll just donate them.

I heard through my neice that he is apparently known at school as the kid with the nice clothes so if they were stolen, who knows if someone took them just to be mean or to have them for their own.

Anyway, he was pretty mortified that someone could just take something that belonged to him but he's happy to have replacements. And I took pictures of them in case these go "missing".

I'm pretty pissed about the whole thing, though. I work hard to provide well for my son...and to possibly have some little shit just take it makes me furious....especially when everything my son grows out of always goes to charity.

And when you find out who the little shit(s) are that took his belongings, then the parents that belong to that little shit(s) need a good talking to.

If it happens again, it's time to go to the school board for a visit.

I know...isn't that nuts??

Maybe because going to the movies requires driving into the "city" which is 20 minutes away. lol

I dunno...small town folks are a different breed for sure!

Ha! The jacket was placed on a chair in the cafeteria this morning.

Custodian did not put it there, nor did a teacher apparently...it was just placed there sometime after school started and a classmate's mother found it and turned it in.

I offered it up to a co-worker who has a son the same size as mine.
