James Taylor -- "Fire and Rain"

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Ooh! I love James Taylor and I love "Fire & Rain". Thanks!

A Frankie Knuckles mix, recorded live at the Warehouse in Chicago. It's dated 1979, but I think it was actually recorded a few years later, since the first track was apparently released in 1981. Still, it's a nice piece of history for house music fans.

heh I wish I could hear that, Im not a big house fan but I liked Frankie Knuckles' stuff.

Right now I'm listening to Yes - Fish (SCHINDLERIA PRAEMATURUS)

Paula Abdul -- "Opposites Attract"

redface

Now I'm listening to a MIDI file of this song. Y'know, it's actually pretty good for what it is... late 1980's/early 1990's dance-pop.

I was reading some reviews at amazon.com, and it seems that Paula Abdul fans think that the radio/video edit (included on her greatest hits disc) is superior to the album version. I've listened closely to both versions, and I must disagree. The added raps are bad enough, but even worse, they've messed with the drums by dropping them out at certain points in the song (e.g., where the end of a verse goes into the chorus), and IMHO, this kills it as a dance song.

No problem. I think it's a nice song for difficult times.

BTW, here's an interesting explanation of what the lyrics mean:

I am currently listening to and watching the video for "Outside," by George Michael. Very clever, humorous, and thought-provoking.

I take it you haven't seen the video. smile It's basically his response to that incident where he was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to an undercover police officer in a public restroom... he manages to poke fun at himself and make some "serious" points.

Plus, it's a nice disco house track. smile
