The closest the TCM films ever get to where I am is Kenosha. pout

And I wouldn't see this, in any case. Movies about "nature run amok" freak me out. shake

I love Hitchcock, but I just...can't.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Visionnaire

The very first Hitchcock movie I ever watched.

During my early years on this planet, my dad used to pack our family into the wood panel-sided Buick station wagon & take us to the drive-in theatre where we were exposed to alot of those 70's campy "when animals attack" movies, like Food Of The Gods, Night Of The Leapus, Swarm, etc...
Goofy escapist fare of whose cheese I really ended up developing quite the "distinguished taste" for.
Therefore, when I first caught a glimpse of this film on the tube, my initial reaction was "Coo-hoooolll!!!... Kinda like the movie 'Frogs!' Except with birds!"

A few weeks ago, I finally got to see Annie Hall on the big screen. It was a thrill, and I loved seeing it in the original format, especially in an old New York theater.

I'd love to see The Birds this way too, but unfortunately, I can't make it there tonight. But hopefully more Hitchcock films will get the same rerelease.

One of the few Hitchcock movies that do absolutely NOTHING for me. Don´t like it at all, especially the poor ending.

Is this supposed to be some deep metaphor ? Did I miss something?

Then again, I was still a teenager the last time I watched it and maybe just didn´t get it.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

cool The theater was suprisingly packed for this movie; there was a 15 min interview with Tippie Heren with host Robert Osborne.

These movies were shot for the big screen (in cinema scope) and I for one appreciate how so much more of the topography you are able to see and how it affects the flow of a movie. In this case when the birds went on the attack, it far more intense than when you see them on a 42' / 52' inch TV screen. One of my favorite movies... I watch it about once a month. "The Birds" have been on Encore for the past 6 months; they've had Mr. Hitchock movies all over cable for the past year.

When I went to see Doctor Zhivago here a couple weeks ago, there were a ton of people there, too. Frankly, I think people are starved for good film - or, in this case, film that is both great and familiar. I mean...you can't go wrong with David Lean or Hitchcock. shrug

nod I think you are right. This place had 16 screens yet most of the folks were coming out of one theater.
