Lysistrata

Tonight I went to a performance of Lysistrata, which is an anti war comedy written by the Greek dramatist Aristophanes. It tells the story of a group of women who rise up to end war by withholding sex from their mates.

This performance was part of a global reading of this play tonight with 1029 performances in 59 different countries.

Anyone else attend one?

I actually read this play awhile ago. I would strongly reccommend it to anyone looking for a quick read. Pretty damn funny considering how old it is. Just goes to prove that things never really change...

Tonight, it was read all over the world as an anti-war protest.

Nope... but I definitely remember reading it in college when I took a class in ancient Greek culture.

There were, like, 16 readings of it here in Minneapolis. I didn't attend either... sad

I first read it in high school. Hilarious!

Haystack

Does it end with all the men saying 'Ah, fuck it!' and having a good jerk-off to get rid of their sexual tension before marching off to war? smile
