"the new normal" vs "partners"

i realize it's unfair to compare them, as they are two distinctly different shows, but...

i like the new normal. it's dark, and funny.

partners feels like will and grace, slightly reworked by the same writers, producers, and director. plus the jokes seem rather... schmaltzy.

meanwhile, while not really gay themed, "the mindy project" is sublime, quirky, smart, and clever.

anyone else watching any of the three?

I haven't seen "The New Normal" or "The Mindy Project."

I did watch "Partners" and thought it was good. It needs to be broken in a bit, but it was funny.

I'll give a slight edge to The New Normal, but I find that I really, really hate Ryan Murphy shows, so I imagine this one will become insufferable soon.

Partners is already insufferable.

That was the pilot for The Mindy Project last night? I thought it was something that had been on for weeks already, saw about the last half of it, it was funny for a minute but I don't see me getting into it.

if you like dark comedy, i recommend the new normal. 4 episodes in and i still like it.

if you like smart and quirky, midy project was a very promising pilot.

its the only murphy show i like thus far. being as i liked glee a little in the beginning, then watched it quickly de-evolve into crap... i am not holding my breath. people really love american horror story, but i thought the writing was soooo weak. it felt like they threw every horror movie trope against the wall to see what would stick. i barely finished it. if season 2 isnt a lot better i will probably sign off that show.

perhaps it will get better but the partners pilot really didnt do it for me. the jokes were sooo... meh.

i knew i was in when she drunkenly rode the bike into the pool and had an underwater argument with the barbie doll at the bottom.

i love me some quirky oddball writing

When she took off on the bike, smiling all the way and yelled "I'm Sandra Bulloooooock!" I howled! The underwater doll conversation was icing on the cake. I'm soooooooooo looking forward to the rest of the season.

I'm liking the New Normal so far. The little girl's Grey Gardens deal was good enough for me to set the dvr all season. It's cute.

I have to say, for me it's all about New Girl. I expect it to only get better this season. It's my favorite show on tv right now.

I've never even heard of Parnters. Oops.

LOVE "The New Normal", but clearly I've got to catch up to the other shows eek : heard some good press on "The Mindy Project" for the last couple of weeks, but haven't had the chance to search it out on my bootleg video sites-that-post-dvr-videos-of-American-shows yet. smile

They both are okay and have potential , but sooner or later Ryan will ruin The New Normal. It's what he does with all of his shows.

I LOVE the New Normal.

I don't always agree with the extreme point of view of the lead characters, but I understand the show is pitting two extreme views against each other and being super provocative.

So far it's my fav new show. Haven't seen partners.

I watched the pilot of The New Normal but I felt like I was watching a bunch of people acting...poorly. It was funny but I didn't actually laugh. I prefer more realistic acting like Mad Men. Sitcoms have really gone down the tubes as far as acting goes. It was much better than HIMYM though. That show is beyond terrible.
