Not that there's anything wrong with that. I hated it myself.

How can you hate E.T.? That's akin to wanting to drown kittens or shoot the last unicorn or something.

I've never actually seen Doctor Zhivago. It's definitely on my list, but whenever I consider it I'm not ready to invest that much time. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a screening as if it would get me outta the house I'd probably be more apt to do it.
I'm always amazed when I hear that people haven't seen the "big" movies. (For example, a few years ago, I dragged a friend who'd never seen Gone With the Wind to a screening.) Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course - it just feels weird through my classic film buff lens. I must've seen Doctor Zhivago at least a dozen times over the years.
At any rate, it's wonderful. And now that I've actually seen it "as intended," my opinion has only risen. Funny, though - Sweetie saw it for the first time a year or so ago (when I bought the DVD). And while he liked it, his main reaction was, "Well, that wasn't a very happy ending." I told him, "Honey, it was the Russian Revolution. Nobody got a happy ending out of that."
As an aside, sometimes I really miss the days before home video. Before VCRs, the UW had numerous film societies that would screen all kinds of movies in lecture halls on campus. While the sound wasn't fabulous, it was a chance to see a lot of movies on the big screen.
I haven't seen Doctor Zhivago OR Gone With the Wind.
I keep meaning to get around to them both, though. |

My family made me see it with them at the cinema. What year was that? 1982? I was 13 and into Star Wars. I didn't want to see any stupid E.T. |

I haven't seen those either. Or the Godfather. Not that I don't want to see them. I just haven't had an opportunity to see those films properly (remastered on an HD screen). |

Now, I know you are not putting ET in the same category with Doctor Zhivago. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

I'm speechless. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Years ago, there was a Godfather marathon on AMC or some similar channel. I taped all three so I could finally watch them. But I only made it through the first one (which was really good). Maybe someday I'll see what all the fuss over the second one was about. |

If I hate Doctor Zhivago when I see it, I will. My dad owns the blu-ray disc and a projector so the next time I'm at my parents' place I'm definitely watching it. |

That movie is so hard to watch. I'd rather stare at a blank wall for 2 hours than suffer through it again. If you will, so will I |

So how'd it go?
Not sure what I'm doing tonight, I think it's being planned for me. I wanna go see 'The Word', but I think I'm off to something more constructive. |

That's because you like aliens. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

Had a blast masturbating to the internet porn last night. I really enjoyed myself immensely. Think I'll have another go at it tonight. |

Hiya. I was there at that time too for a flight to London.
I'm flying home tomorrow from Scotland, so tonight I just want room service.
