I'm with Lammastide on this. I can't tell you how many jobs that I've applied for, that I never even got a, "thank you for your interest in the position", letter.
The reason why they are going to shred your application is to protect you from identity theft (which is happening more than ever right now). That is a wise thing for them to do, so a random stranger can't get a hold of your personal information. The person who stole your identity will find out where you live, and even possibly get a hold of your social security number (if you've included it on your job application). They can even apply for a credit card under your name, max it out, and then you wind up getting billed for it. Then you have to go through the hassle of calling the credit card company to explain that the charges are not yours.
I wouldn't take it personally if I were you. Just keep looking. The perfect job will come along. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Huh??
It's called a fucking document shredder! "Shred" is the absolute only appropriate word, since it's exactly what they DID. They shredded the piece of paper with a paper shredder. To protect your personal information.
I seriously don't understand you right now.

Um.... This HAS to be a bait thread.
I've had full blown interviews, and then no phone calls afterwords after they said that they would call me to tell me when their projects would kick off, using language that indicated I was being fastracked for a job.
Whoever sent you that was being very kind.
