ALL HAIL SHAMELESS MATERIALISM!
Apple just announced it's unveiling the iPhone 5 NEXT WEEK!!!

Well, they kind of announced it -- Apple just sent out a bunch of invitations to media outlets to an event at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco on September 12th. The invite doesn't explicitly say anything about the iPhone 5, but the graphic on the invite shows a giant "5" stylized as the date's shadow.

WHICH TOTALLY MEANS THE iPHONE 5!

According to completely unsubstantiated rumors on tech blogs, the iPhone 5 will have a new two-tone unibody design, a smaller dock connector, 4G LTE, and a larger 4-inch display using Sharp's IGZO technology.

And you'll only have to stand in line on a sweaty sidewalk for 6 weeks to get it.

I don't own an iPhone, and I don't plan on getting one anytime soon (not that I don't want one)...so I'm not caught up in the hoopla. BUT - rumor has it that the new/incompatible charger plug is making people angry.

lol

I haven't had my current iPhone for a year - and I'm totally happy with it. So it'll be at least the middle of next year before I even think about a new one.

Apple seem to be playing catchup these days.

Sounds like the iphone 5 is simply going larger and widescreen to keep up with Samsung and Lumia.

And to ensure they milk the isheep as much as they can, they are changing to an all new smaller data/power port. So they can flog a whole bunch of peripherals too.

I don't have one, but thats the best thing on the market. Raw power, usb charge and data, NFC, open battery, micro SD and not locked down. Plus the voice search works properly and you can get a decent signal. Thats how to make a phone.

I've had my iPhone 4 for two years this month which means I'm eligible for an upgrade...but I'm not going to rush out and get the 5 right away. Maybe around Christmas time or in the Spring. It depends.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I took a break from the iphone, I've had an HTC phone since February and I honestly wish I had never switched. I was tired of the iphone's small ass screen so I got something different, but my battery is really shitty plus it's always malfunctioning. If they make the screen bigger I'll definitely be going back to the iphone, if not..I still might. lol

I'm about to change my phone, and I haven't ruled any brand out. I'm waiting to see what the new models offer.

I'm not anti apple (My desktop is an iMac), but I'm amazed how blinkered and caught up some people are with a mediocre spec'ed phone and severly restricitive eco system. To a point where thety say they will queue for the new one without even knowing if it offers anything new.

If Apple knock the ball out of the park with the iphone 5 next week, I'd consider it, but the rumours aren't great.

The Samsung, on spec, looks a cut above, and I've used android jellybean and think they have finally got everything just right (I thought previous versions were still playing catchup with IOS).

On the other hand, the new Nokia/Win 8 phone announced yesterday looks the best thing on the market bar none. Win 8 makes Android and IOS look extremely dated. The live tiles are functional and fresh. Coupled with the new PureView camera, wireless charging, NFC, Augmented reality, sat nav and a reasonably free ecosystem, I'm very tempted. It just feels odd coming from the old warhorses. But it looks the best, and being vurually scratchproof, it will suit my lifestyle.

I'm waiting to see the google/motorola RAZR. If its a samsung clone, it won't interest me much, but if they pull off a clam shell smart phone, then I'll take a look, because to me, the form was always best for filling in my jeans and holding to the ear. These slab smart phone are getting too bulky.

The Iphone 5 is considerably bigger than the 4 (as it the Galaxy and Lumia), and thats a negative for me. But it all depends on whether you use it as your main internet access, which I dont.

Either way, I'm lookng forward to choosing, rather than just accepting the next version from the same old brand.

But if I get an iphone, my kids will rib me, because according to their school playground, they are now official "uncool".

Personally, I'm not one to just buy because something is new and hot on the market. I like to wait a few months first so that the glitches can be worked out. So as I stated previously, I'll probably wait until December or sometime in spring '13.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

New Video of the iPhone 5 Leaked!

by Raissa - Sep 6, 2012 - No Comments

iPhone 5 Leaked Video

By now, fanatics are excited for the unveiling of the fifth generation of the the iPhone 5. Apple has sent out invitations for a major event on Sept. 12 to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts n San Francisco. Apple didn’t say that it will be the unveiling of the iPhone 5 but it seems likely.

But just days to the event, a new leak about the device has surface online! Chinese website Vgooo.com published a video showing the supposedly iPhone 5 side by side with the iPhone 4S. The handler compares the two devices on all angles in order for viewers to spot the differences as well as similarities.

The video shows that the new iPhone has taller screen, front-facing camera, repositioned headphone jack and a smaller dock connector. The handler also booted the two phones at the same time. The iPhone 4S proceeded to show the iPhone startup screen while the iPhone 5 showed the error message “This device is not registered as part of the iPhone Developer Program. If you are a member of the program, please register your device in the @@url@@.”

The new device looks like a bigger iPhone 4S with a few difference. But dare we believe this is how the final product will look like? What do you think?

V10LETBLUES

I love Apple but I think the new one will start sales decline. They are going to have to make a phone with a screen bigger than 4 inches. As phones can do much more now a days, the only drawback to them is the small screen. If all you use it for is to make calls and check email, it's fine. But the devices are full blown computers. It now feels quaint how we once waited to go home to shoot a email or anything else other than running full blown Autocad, Illustrator or Spreadsheets.

We once had a dedicated desks for our huge beige box computers. It seems silly now when these little devices can do most everything on the go.

I will wait to see what the new iPhone has to offer next week, I was do an upgrade before the 4S, but skipped it. Now it's between the Samsung Galaxy 3, iPhone 5 or the Galaxy Note if Verizon carries it. Like I said these things are full blown computers and with Dropbox, Skydrive Google Drive and the rest, it's rare that I need to fire up the desktop for anything but for major work.
