No ‘Smokey’ for the ‘Last Friday?’

August 22, 2012 By Brittney M. Walker

*Years after their fallout, it appears Chris Tucker and Ice Cube are still at odds, and there won’t be another ‘Friday’ with the friend down the street named “Smokey.”

Rumors arose when Cube announced that there would be a “Last Friday,” and that his former porch-mate would appear in it.

But it’s not looking like Tucker will bless us this time around.

In fact, the comedian/actor sat down with Tom Joyner, and discussed his surface issues with the flick.

“I talked to Ice Cube because it’s such a big rumor, and people get mad if you say you ain’t doing something, so I’m real careful. They’re workin’ on a script. I don’t think it’ll be as special as the first one. We’ll see what happens, but I doubt it that I’ll do another ‘Friday,’” says Tucker.

Cube must not be offering him enough money. Oh well...

Well ain't that a bitch? The last two 'Rush Hour' movies his happy ass was in, were nowhere near "as special as the first one" and I seriously doubt 'Rush Hour 4' will be either.

Remember Chris Tucker isn't the same foul mouth dude you saw in Money Talks and the first Friday. He has found faith that suits him which still doesn't means he is pure as

the driven snow. He is just in a different place and he has a son. Remember Cube

tried to low ball him for the 2nd Friday movie by offering him peanuts and cd's.

Chris isn't obligated to appear in the last Friday movie just because the first one

was a blockbuster and isn't Mike Epps suppose to be Cube's new sidekick for this

series.

HE gets 20 mil for Rush Hour compared to a few mil for Friday.

From what I heard, he need those "few millions" because he owes some money.

Yeah, ok. He's back to doing Stand Up Comedy, as a matter of fact, he'll be in Cleveland tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he isn't going to be doing Gospel Comedy.

Nobody is saying that he has to be "the same foul mouth dude" he once was but he can at least make an appearance, even a small one, in the movie that skyrocketed his career, for the fans that want to see what happened to his character.

Fuck Chris Tucker for real eek I mean if he can't appreciate that Friday made him a star and pay homage-dude has issues. He doesn't have to curse or anything, but just make an appearance in the movie. Cube needs to get everybody else and say to hell with Chris.

Hey, he better cash in on this Friday movie because Jackie Chan already said he doesn't like doing the Rush Hour movies, so that Rush Hour 4 is looking a little shaky. lol I think a lot more people would come and see this new Friday movie if they know Smokey is up in there and he's probably make a good chunk of change. nod

Nope he won't be doing Gospel Comedy but he can keep it PG13 like Sinbad does and still

be funny. Maybe i'm in the minority but who the hell wants to see a 40 something year old

Chris Tucker reprise his role as a chronic weed smoker 10 to 15 years later. I'm pretty sure

Chris is thinking the same thing. Sorry been there done that.

Actually it's closer to 20. They haven't even started production on it yet. Let's just say they start shooting tomorrow, it wouldn't hit theaters til probably early 2014. lol

But hey, if Cheech and Chong can smoke weed forever, why can't Smokey, Craig and Day-Day, lol.

I respect Chris Tucker's point of view but it may be funny to see Smokey in the final "Friday".

When I heard the rumours a while ago, I always thought Smokey should come back as a drug rehab counsler TRYING hard to stay straight (throughout the film).. You know..does he give in or not?

If Chris Tucker decides to make a comeback, he could probably go the route that Damon Wayans and Bernie Mac did as dad dealing with his wife and children. I understand Martin Lawrence is

doing just that next year on CBS.

So that's what you and Chris think, is it? Smokey just couldn't possibly have finished rehab, got his shit together and came back to the 'hood to be an inspiration to the new neighborhood chronic weed smokers, while keeping it PG13 and being funny?

Then I guess I'll start thinking he's not that much of an ACTOR, afterall!

According to this article, Chris Tucker said it was a rumor, the script is in the works, he doubt that he would be in the movie, but also stated let's see what happens. Therefore, no one should draw any conclusions right now.

Chris Tucker could have been the next Eddie Murphy. And by Eddie Murphy, I mean the premier comic/actor of his generation. I think like Eddie, he had it all. Was a great stand up comic, very charismatic, a good actor in his films. He seemed to have that "it" factor and he just blew it.

There were a few comics after Eddie became the man gunning for his spot. The three main ones Damon Wayans, Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence/ While all were funnier than Tucker in the stand up field, on screen (and off screen) is where they couldn't pull it off. Eddie in the 80s was just funny in whatever he did. All three even tried the buddy cop/detective film but couldn't pull off the job like Eddie. Chris Tucker pulled it off in Rush Hour ...

By the mid to late 90s' he was there. He was one of the biggest names in the business. Thanks to Rush Hour and his previous catalog from the years earlier. But then it stopped, he retired from stand up (just like Eddie did but only to come back last year, hopefully Eddie will follow him back.)

But unlike Eddie, he didn't continue to grow as an actor, excepting his role as Detective James Carter for almost the past 15 years.

I think if he continued both, he'd be talked about as one of the greats. Not only did he have the black audience, he had the all mighty white audience eating out of his palms too ... CHRIS TUCKER blew it.

Even though U make good points. Chris Tucker didn't blow anything. He walked away on his own. He himself said he didn't like the parts that we're being offered to him at the time.. He opted not to dress like a women like Martin & Eddie did. He did a Dave Chappelle. He didn't sell his soul like the others did.

Martin went loony & I won't talk about what Eddie did...Chris may not be as popular as he used to be. But at least he has his sanity..Being at the top isn't always pretty...

What parts were he being offered post Rush Hour? The only one I know of is Head of State with Rock and Bernie Mac. He was supposed to be the president instead of Chris Rock.

Was Big Momma's House offered to him instead of Martin?

Your scenerio sounds good but remember Ice Cube is the director. Chris Tuck is a good

actor he just chose the path he's taken now. Could it be that it's more important for Chris

Tucker to do what he wants versus what the public or Hollywood thinks what's best for him.

Friday was a good movie but damn Friday 4 seriously? I'm no more interested in a 4th friday

movie than i am another Rush Hour movie or another Lethal Weapon movie and the Lethal

Weapon series trumped both imo.
