Shootout at the Empire State Building this Morning

I don't work in the Empire State Building anymore, but I still freelance in the area. I was buying breakfast on 33rd on my way to a gig on 35th. I missed the carnage by 10 minutes. Some dude was upset at being fired the day before, confronted his manager, flipped out and started blasting. Cops took him out, but some civilians were hit by friendly fire. A few of my ex co-workers said they ran for their lives. Crazy.

This is surely to pass gun control laws. A level of hysteria is always maintained in the US, its repulsive. Then when something happens it all gets directed to one place, in this case, and before the with Dark Knight shooting is for the gun control. Rediculous situations where people have been carring guns to cinemas because of the recent movie shooting have been happenig are an example of it. People shooting themselves by mistake in movies, trying to shoot others, things like that.

Now were seeing things like this more and more.

Hitlers Germany, Stalin' and all of them had gun control laws in effect that threw out all guns.

And look how well that turned out.

We get people thinking theyre not safe anymore and put all their power in the wrong hands for their convenient saviors. They create the problem and also give you the "solution".

What we need to do is protect ourselves just in case some crazy kook wants to cause a scene. We make too many excuses for them. And meanwhile a man supposedly a part of some LGBT organization came in and shot at a pro-family organization for...no reason and probably is not getting as much media coverage as the Empire State Building shooter and James Holmes. It seems fitting that they would do this during an election year with folks not sure who to trust (well from what I gather, they're not leaning left this year lol).

I live in Germany, have traveled to the former East which was once not so very long ago Stazi controlled, and frankly I'm not getting your Hitler/stalin comparision. It doesn't wash.

Do you think gun control laws are not needed? Should everyone simply be allowed to carry around heavy arsenal like Holmes and others like him?

I believe that there are simply some types of guns that simply don't need to be on the street. And I'm a actually a woman who shoots for sport. If a person wants to be a bad ass, let me see what he can do with a good old fashioned Baretta double barreled shotgun. Semi-automatic weapons aren't for anything other than hunting and killing people in war. It's ridiculous (and IMO) and pretty punk ass for a person to use these war weapons on the street against civilians, and is nothing more than a way for someone to get their rocks off and prove to themselves that they have big dicks confused

It is - since 9/11, metal detectors have been installed. This took place outside.

Turns out the dude had a similar story. He worked as a graphic designer for an apparel company who was laid off last year. Even has the same first name as me. Yikes.

If we gonna be technical about it, in New York, he didn't obey the law by carrying a gun in New York State...well that's what I read somewhere. So uh yeah.

well c'mon,

if we gonna be techno about it

all these mass murderin folks are crimminals

from the minit they buy a gun, THAT'S WHY PEOPLE BUY GUNS...

oh, of course they will say " i bought it just in case..."

or "i'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it"

OR the best one yet " i had no intentions on ever usin it"

the truth is i'm a felon who has had many weapons in my possesion

illegaly and YOU can't say you read about any of my exploits

HOWEVER, when the conversation comes up it's always

" we just need to find better ways of keepin guns out of the hands

of crimminals and felons"

you never heard me bitch about bein fired

cuz i never had a job, and i don't get dumped,

i don't have the need to be known, i am known...

you see me commin you'll have thoughts ("WTF???")

these muthafuckas seem to be nice and well adjusted enough

to buy guns legal like lol

No what that means is that your rights are being stripped little by little with false reasons. Little by little you'll be in a fascist state. Most people dont even know the constitution or their own rights. Removing rights to bear arms is against the constitution, if you didnt know. Which cannot be altered in any way. So when your door starts getting kicked down by military and you have no way to defend yourself like in Germany, then youll see what I'm getting at. I didnt say free guns for everyone with no rules. My point was the level of hysteria is the goal, and its very evident by these idiots in movie theaters with guns having accidents recently and people feeling unsafe in general.

Look up the James Holmes case detail all the evidence reports dont even match up and are inconclusive. Its not uncommon for the US to create sabotage in other countries and its own, they admit it in their own declassified reports, its information anyone can get. Most people dont actually follow the news or go to look up the sources they just believe what fed to them from a certain perspective and thats whee the manipulation is done. Even if you know basic psychology its an easy thing to figure out.

Sad news.

Not sure how many ppl need to die by gun violence before ppl start to wake up and do something.

I get so tired of ppl using the excuse that they NEED a gun to protect themselves from the government.

That is the single most ridiculous thing I have heard.

How can Americans justify all of these murders? Look at the statistics from other countries. Why do Americans need guns more than other countries?

^Look.at U.S. history and you'll find your answer.Guns & violence are as American as baseball and apple pie. That will never change, especially with Washington D.C. in the hip pocket of the NRA.

No one says theyre buying guns to protect themselves from the government. Thats the last reaosn why people buy guns, and thats the last reason that guy shot the other bought a gun and thats the last reason people in movie theatres have guns now.

People buy guys to protect themselves from the nonsesne they see on the media. And whats being controlled through the media is the question, and who the real enemy is, which people dont see.

I have seen ppl in P&R say that they need a gun to protect themselves from the Govt. I know ppl here in Fl that use that same excuse.

Well 90 percent of people that buy guns use them to blow each others heads off isnt because of fear of the government.

Every single bystander in this incident that was hit by bullets or fragments was shot by the police accidentally in broad daylight outside. I think that pro-gun owners who think that in a situation like the movie theater murders that if people were armed that they could have done anything helpful need to take note of this.

They should take note but they won't.

I don't know. I don't see why having gun control laws would help in a situation like that. Especially if you feel threatened. What if you need it for self defense? I don't buy whatever it is people think it is we need to do to "control things". Michael Bloomberg just said some nonsense yesterday that had me shaking my head considering there's already gun control laws in New York! confused

Basically if lots of people freely had guns in the movie theater, a lot more innocent people would have been shot. Not just the killer. Maybe not even the killer at all, considering people later mistook him for official armed help that arrived.

The New York incifdent of all the civilians (except for the target of the shooter) getting shot accidentally by the police kind of proves that even with training, in the confusion of a shootout, everyone could get shot along with the intended target.
