Have you ever written a love letter? Like a true, pour your heart out, real letter to someone?
Or have you ever received one?
I received one from a friend after she really betrayed me. I know it seems weird because a female friend wrote it, but it really was a love letter...just not in a romantic way.
I've never received one from a lover though....shame.

I'm sure I wrote a few. First relationship was overly tumultuous :dead: Never got one though! Just little notes. I'm the mistake you wanna make

Wrote them and sent them? Or just wrote them to let it all out?

Wrote them and sent them? Or just wrote them to let it all out? Yup, I could never actually say how I felt, it would always come out all wrong, so I'd write it all out and hand it to him and then wait a torturous eternity until he read it all. I'm the mistake you wanna make

I have never written a full on love-your-heart-out letter but I have gotten more than one.
One from each of the two guys I was dating (at the same time, they knew)
One from a guy I decided I didn't want to be in an LTR with
One from a guy who met me one time "Aren't you even curious? Don't you want to see the dragon behind the door?"

I´ve written many love letters to four ladies in my life but it´s been at least a decade since I wrote the last one and I don´t think I´ll ever write one again but if I do, she´ll probably be the last one to receive a true love letter from me. The act of writing is a good outlet for me but you know what they say...paper is patient...so, on the one hand it is a good listener but on the other hand what you write will always be there, and your thoughts of today might be your mistakes tomorrow.
This thread made me realize that I´d love to write love letters again. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

dear NDRU:
you should know i love your posts. love your signature, style, warmth of heart and intelligent depth of humor. i also love the fact that you're already in a committed relationship with a perfectly fantastic woman out there in california, so much so that i'm not even tempted to start orgnoting you, see if you'd flirt back, start calling on the phone, take plane trips to visit, change jobs and leave my comfy home, move to california to find out if it could ever work between us only to have one or the other of us realize hey! what the heck was i thinking? so, to sum up, i just want to say that when it comes to loving you, i love you just the way you are.
love, Xx

Yep when I was younger I wrote a few heartfelt letters, to friends or boyfriends. Pages and pages. I got a couple too. They were intense. At the time.
Did a couple of cassette tapes too. I hope they've disappeared from the face of the earth. [Edited 8/27/12 17:31pm]

Dear Imago:
i love your threads. i don't know why, but i do. sometimes i think reading your posts is a bit like eating something way too spicy. you know you'll be sorry later, you know it will burn your mouth and leave your tongue feeling swollen and irritated for half a day, but you can't help taking a bite. so what i want to say is i guess i consider you to be the tabasco sauce of the GD forum. please, don't you ever, ever stop burning my lips.
sincerely,

I'm actually a pretty good writer but I never want to write stuff like that down for the very same reason you stated. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I used to write some in high school and a couple of them in college, but who needs to do that in an age of texting, email, Facebook and Twitter? Plus people are hokey enough in expressing their true feelings to their beloved, but asking people to write love letters today is like asking them to speak in public.

I'm a writer so I've written some over 20 pages long. I've also received some great ones. And am I crazy that I've kept them all??? Even if I was in other relationships, I kept them all (about 85) in a small case. My reasoning? One day when I'm 90 and can't get out of bed I wil take them all out and read them. Memories...
Sometimes when I broke up with a man I'd ask for my letters back too. So I have those to read also. I read these sometimes and I'm like, "WTF was I thinking??" "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

OMG I forgot about the cassette tape I made. Hope it's in the dump with the rest of the outdated technology. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

Quite a few.
Lately, at the end of semesters from students.
I've had them 'read' out to me by the girls that wrote them too. I think girls are just far better at saying what they think than guys, and far more prone to wanting to say it.

Yes.
And I write personal letters all the time. With the proliferation of email and texts, a personal stands out today more than ever.

In one of my first serious relationships he was a Marine... he wrote me and I wrote him. Every letter had some form of proposal or saying he couldn't wait to get home to get married.
I call those his "jailhouse" letters... because as soon as he came home for good he got amnesia and forgot what he wrote and treated me like crap. I then broke up with him seeing that he wasn't going to marry me.
I kept all the notes and cards that were filled with empty promises in a hat box. I brought that hat box to his place. Opened it up and dumped all the letters on his bed. Told him to keep all his empty promises.
He then called me the next day to apologise for saying I was pressuring him and that once he saw the letters he realized why I was so upset.
Punk.
I have yet to write another love letter... don't think I ever will.

I used to write to the dudes I dated. Had many letters from them. Never wrote one for my husband, but he wrote to me.
I write letters to my children every now and then--especially when they accomplish something they have been striving for.
