DO NOT WATCH THE REMAKE. It is unintentionally hilarious.

I just finished. It was a good movie! A bit long, but good. Not really scary though. I loved the exorcism scene and how she spoke in his Mom's voice. The music was a nice touch too, pretty much the only creepy thing about the movie, as well as the timing of certain sound effects and the random face popping up. lol But overall, I'd give it an 8/10. smile

One thing I love about the film is when the girl turned into the young priest's grandmother... that was the one thing that actually creeped me out but in the terms of how things were in 1973, people would've thought that was real scary.

see that is what made this movie so scary. It was the psychological fear. The thought that the Devil could know your guilt, and fear and then use it AGAINST you in psychological warfare.

Yeah, I was wondering when his parents would catch on. lol

The Shining is a must see... the story line is great and Jack Nicholson gives a timeless performance.

I might watch this one myself tonight...

The book terrified me. The movie, not so much. There were scenes in the book that weren't included in the movie. After I read the book, I slept with a light on for a month. I thought the movie would terrify me, but I went home, went to bed, turned out the light, and slept through the night, no problems.

After reading the book, though, my foster mother said, "Why are sleeping with the lights on?" I told her because I was scared after reading the book, and this way, if anyone is coming to get me, I would see them. She said, "But that also means they can see you." That night, I wasn't sure what to do! Lights on? Lights off? So I just stayed up all night instead.

I'm home alone, middle of the day. I wanna watch my first horror movie, and I chose The Exorcist.

What's the verdict? Scary or not?

The Exorcist is definitely one of the most disturbing movies ever made. I was about 13 when i first seen it and it freaked me out. Some parts of the movie are somewhat dated now but other parts are still creepy. Im into horror movies, especially one that deal with the supernatural. Here's some horror movies that ive enjoyed over the years.

Scary photos below so warning

Chick with Rabies goes crazy

Haunted House

Cool Zombie movie.

Supernatural

Vampire Camp

I agree with ufoclub! The original is so much better than the remake.

I might have to watch this one too. hmmm

It's a great movie, and better than anything else that's been mentioned.

The lead role had to have a good actor, to take away from the fact that the other leading role (whatever her name is) is so utterly awful.

I love reading horror fiction.

The books are much scarier to me because they allow my imagination to run wild.

Most of the time, the director's vision of "scary" is not the way I pictured it in the books- esp. when it comes to Stephen King.

"The Amityville Horror" was a joke! confused

They left out some of the creepier aspect of the books, and what they did use didn't do anything for me. THAT's the book that I kept the lights on for afterward. lol

How could you have not seen Psycho?!? I'd suggest Texas Chainsaw Massacre afterward. They both were based on the same murderer.

It would have been quite a chilling scene back in ye 1960's I suppose.

I have another film for you if you're interested. The John Carpenter version of "The Thing" http://en.wikipedia.org/w...1982_film). It's a sci-fi theme, but it has quite a lot of very creative gore, it's not just buckets of blood and limbs flying. The thing I love about it though is the suspense, it has it in spades, and it's something that 80's John Carpenter was a master at. It's an uncomfortable film. A classic.

I love the close up of the victims eye and then the camera slowly pulls back to reveal her face on the bathroom floor. Great scene.
