Dreams that your ex has died Weird feeling I may say. He's the only ex that I had tons of history with (and can't seem to forget about as I have with the others). Haven't spoken to him in nearly 9 months now...and have no intentions of ever talking to him again. He pops in my head now and then...not to get back together, not to be friends, but rather the good and bad times we shared, the impact he had on my life and then I tell myself "oh well, he's pretty much dead to me now" and then I think about something else.
So last night, oddly enough (when I haven't thought about him at all recently), I have this dream that he's been murdered by his baby mama. In the dream, shockingly, I was incredibly upset. I went to the crime scene, comforted his mother and attended the funeral. I was a wreck and I even mumbled while seeing him in the casket, that he was the love of my life. Urgh. Thank goodness it was just a dream.
Lesson that I learned from the dream? Don't ever say that someone is dead to you...because it just might come true.
Anyone else been in a similar situation or have had similar dreams/circumstances? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

If that dream doesn't manifest in real life, then death doesn't have to be physical. It could mean that in order to go forward, you have to put an end to what it used to be and no longer is, but it takes time. Many times, dreams are the figments of your subconscious. My thoughts

I'm guessing when you say this, you are basically saying that there's a need to let go of the past. I agree 100%...my issue has been, how do I do that? As I said before, I have no desire to want to be with him, talk to him, nor be friends and have been doing my own thing. I do want to let go and have been doing everything in my power to do so...yet residual feelings of pain remain for some reason. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Did he have anything in common with any former partners or male family members? Maybe there are patterns you need to identify from the past and this relationship brought it out more.

This is what I meant about it's going to take time. You just don't phase a person out of your life so quickly, especially if that person played an significant part. It gradually takes time. Sure, the memories of him would remain, but I think once the residual feelings of pain leaves, then the next time you ever see him in life, you are able to talk to him or possibly even be friends, since you have no desire to be with him.

I've always been told that dreaming somenoe you love has died means that you are moving into a new phase of your relationship or that something about yoru relationship is changing or growing.

Oh, I can see where my OP has been a bit misleading in regards to the time frame. We actually broke up 4 years ago. In that time, I had cut him off for a couple of years then tried the friendship thing but it didn't work (this is what ended 9 months ago). Also I had a relationship with somebody else after him but that didn't last. I say all of that to say that in 4 years, these feelings should had been gone by now, but it hasn't even though I no longer desire for them to remain. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Well here's my answer (similar to what you said) according to the "Dreams Mood Dictionary" http://www.dreammoods.com...nary/d.htm:
To dream about the death of a loved one suggests that you are lacking a certain aspect or quality that the loved one embodies. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what you like about them. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances. Alternatively, the dream indicates that whatever that person represents has no part in your own life anymore. In particular, to dream about the death of your living parents indicates that you are undergoing a significant change in your waking life. Your relationship with your parents has evolved into a new realm. If you dream about the death of a child, then it implies that you need to let go of your immaturity and start being more serious. To dream that you are faking your own death suggests that you are looking for a new start. You need some change in your life. To dream that you die in your dream symbolizes inner changes, transformation, self-discovery and positive development that is happening within you or your life. You are undergoing a transitional phase and are becoming more enlightened or spiritual. Although such a dream may bring about feelings of fear and anxiety, it is no cause for alarm as it is often considered a positive symbol. Dreams of experiencing your own death usually means that big changes are ahead for you. You are moving on to new beginnings and leaving the past behind. These changes does not necessarily imply a negative turn of events. Metaphorically, dying can be seen as an end or a termination to your old ways and habits. So, dying does not always mean a physical death, but an ending of something. On a negative note, to dream that you die may represent involvement in deeply painful relationships or unhealthy, destructive behaviors. You may feeling depressed or feel strangled by a situation or person in your waking life. Perhaps your mind is preoccupied with someone who is terminally ill or dying. Alternatively, you may be trying to get out of some obligation, responsibility or other situation. You are desperately trying to escape from the demands of your daily life. To see someone dying in your dream signifies that your feelings for that person are dead or that a significant change/loss is occurring in your relationship with that person. Alternatively, you may want to repress that aspect of yourself that is represented by the dying person. If you see a stranger die in your dream, then it implies that you are feeling detached from the changes that are happening around you. To smell death in your dream refers to a situation that has long been dead. It is time to stop dwelling on the past and move on. Oh wow, I guess it's time to close my thread now:
To dream about your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend or ex-husband/wife, that you and your ex are fighting or that you and your ex got back together again suggests that something or someone in your current life is bringing out similar feelings you felt during that relationship with your ex. The dream may be a way of alerting you to similar behavioral patterns in your current relationship. What you learn from that previous relationship may need to be applied to the present one so that you do no repeat the same mistakes. Alternatively, you may be reflecting on the positive experiences and good times that you shared with your past love. Dreams of getting back together with your ex or of your ex wanting to get back together with you may not necessarily be a reflection of reality. This dream may be triggered by some major change in your current relationship and how far you have come from those past relationships. In particular, to see your ex-husband/wife in your dream indicates that you are currently finding yourself in a situation that you do not want to be in. It suggests that you are experiencing a similar relationship or situation which makes you feel unhappy and uncomfortable. Alternatively, dreaming that you are together with your ex-husband/wife implies that you are subconsciously repeating the same old patterns from that relationship to your current relationship. You are making the same mistakes and reacting the same way. To dream that your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend is missing you suggests that you "miss" some aspect of that past relationship. A situation in your current life may be reminding you of your relationship with your ex. Alternatively, the dream may mean that you have moved on with your life. The notion that your ex is missing you may be a pun on that he has "missed" his opportunity or "missed" his chance with you. To see your mate's ex in your dream suggests that you are comparing yourself to the ex. The dream is telling you not to make the same relationship mistakes that ended that relationship. To dream that your ex has died indicates that your feelings for your ex are completely dead now. The dream is a metaphor of how you have let go of the past and are ready to move on and fully devote yourself to new relationships. Metaphorically, seeing your ex in your dream may also signify aspects of yourself that you have x'd out or neglected. [Edited 8/21/12 7:22am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I was always told that to dream of death actually meant a new relationship or MARRIAGE.
Could it be that you are sub-consciously mourning his act of moving on?
If I ever have that dream, I'd probably be just as freaked out as you were.

Nope, I've long accepted that we both needed to move on from each other for good. According the dreams dictionary site, my dream means that I've moved on (he must really be dead to me now...subsciously)..though the dream had me feeling weird when I woke up this morning. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My daughter had dreamt recently that I was dead. It's funny because we had a talk last night. She's kinda terrified of growing up, and wish sometimes she was a child. She's about to graduate from high school this year

Not death per say, but i have had a couple dreams where my ex was in danger. Like he had been shot or hurt in some other way... or he was just upset.
I always wondered wtf they meant [Edited 8/21/12 11:38am] Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Hmm. See if any of the situations below apply to your dreams:
To see an old ex-boyfriend from childhood in your dream refers to a freer, less encumbered relationship. The dream serves to bring you back to a time where the responsibilities of adulthood (or marriage) did not interfere with the spontaneity of romance. You need to recapture the excitement, freedom, and vitality of youth that is lacking in your present relationship. If your ex-boyfriend hurts or ignores you, then the dream is telling you to move on with your life and stop thinking about your ex. If you dream that you want your ex-boyfriend back, then the dream may reflect waking feelings of actually wanting him back. Alternatively, it means that you miss being in a relationship and to feel wanted. To dream that your ex-boyfriend is giving you advice about your current relationship suggests that your subconscious is telling you not to repeat the same mistakes that you had made with this ex-boyfriend. To dream that you are being massaged by your ex-boyfriend suggests that you need to let go of some of that defensiveness that you have been putting forth as a result of a past relationship. You may have put up a wall or armor around you. You need to learn to trust people again. To dream that your ex-boyfriend is giving you a ring or proposing to you implies that your relationship with him made you feel whole and complete. The dream does not necessarily mean that you want to be together with him again, but that you are longing for a relationship that makes you feel complete. Alternatively, the dream may reflect a final end to something and the beginning of a new stage. You are ready to move on from your ex. By him proposing to you, the power is on your side whether you say yes or no. To dream that your ex-boyfriend gives you a stuffed animal suggests that you are seeking for reassuring and nurturing aspects of a relationship. This is not to imply that you want you ex-boyfriend back. Alternatively, the dream could represent some immature relationship which may describe the relationship you had with your ex. To dream that your ex-boyfriend is admitted into the hospital means that you are still dealing with the break-up. There are still some unresolved issues left hanging. If he is released from the hospital, then it means that you have totally let go of the relationship. You have moved on. If you dream that your ex-boyfriend is dressed in a suit at a hospital, then it suggests that you have come to terms with that relationship and have completed the healing process. To dream that you walk off or walk away with your ex-boyfriend indicates that your current love interests are not measuring up to your ex boyfriend. To dream that you are kidnapped by your ex-boyfriend suggests that your ex still has some sort of emotional hold on you. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
