I don't see how Americans could possibly get Ali G... I didn't think his humour would travel well... the jokes probably aren't as funny or aren't funny for the same reasons.
Sacha Baron Cohen aka Ali G is an incredibly funny guy, or he was before he went big-time and got crap. He was the highlight of the 11 O Clock Show on Channel 4 where he would interview unsuspecting politicians etc posing as the "Voice of Youth" (doing "serious issues" for a fake kids TV show). Fucking brilliant stuff. The Tony Benn interview was a classic. His own show was great too... the article about drugs... the FBI interview... really funny. Also, his other character Borat is very very funny also. The less said about Ali G nowadays though, and the movie... the better really! He should just let Ali G die and focus on Borat  | |

Seen the first two episodes on HBO, and it's corny. Even the funniest moments get dragged out in over-long skits that dampen the humor.
