Video sound editing - suggestions?

So I took some video at the My Morning Jacket concert that I'm dying to share.

However, when I played back the video, the audio portion is HORRIBLE.

All sorts of distortion and stuff, makes it painful to listen to.

I used Realplayer to mess with the equalizer a bit, and it helped a little, but I can't alter the actual file.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a FREE program that would allow me to clean up the audio in a video file?

question

Nope. Unfortunately, those sounds are permanent are more than likely permanent. The sound waves - the bass in particular - were too powerful for your cameras mic.

Thank you for not pointing out that I said the same thing twice in one sentence. lol

You're not alone in this, though. YouTube is filled with videos where people had the same problem.

There are video editors out there that will let you separate the video from the audio. Then you can take the audio track and clean it up some, but for the most part you can't remove distortion.
This one's for the rich, not all of 'em, just the greedy

Yeah, if it's clipping, or actually the sound of the mic rattling around, there's not much to be done for it. lol But you made me think of something else!

If your video is really good, find a good audio source and replace it with that. It's really not that difficult if you can find good audio. For a MMJ gig I imagine that wouldn't be too hard to do.

They played "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" and I recorded the second half of it (was too busy jumping and singing the first half).

I can't even begin to imagine what it would take to find another recording of that performance and clip/edit then marry the two.
