AJ Lee Discusses Not Wrestling, Being Backstage At RAW 1000, More

RAW General Manager AJ Lee was interviewed last Friday by Chad Dukes of 106.7 The Fan in Washington D.C. Here are some highlights of the interview:

Being a major on-air character but not wrestling: "I never thought I would open or close Raw and let alone do it multiple times. So it's very surreal and I appreciate that spot and if that means not getting in the ring, I have a whole career for that. Hopefully, I won't have a one year career, you know. So if we can do this now, there's always time to get back in the ring, there will always be a moment, where the time is right. I can put myself in the ring now. I can give myself a title match if I wanted to. So there's time for that and I love wrestling, and I love being in the ring.

But if it doesn't work right now it doesn't work right now. It's in my dream to do kinda all of it."

Being backstage at the 1,000th episode of RAW: "The atmosphere backstage, it felt like a WrestleMania. It was so important, and everyone, these people who I've been watching my entire life are backstage, and maybe two years ago, three years ago, I would meet them and they wouldn't know who I was, and they'd be nice and polite and I'd go, 'Oh my god I love you.' So it was really interesting to be kind of a colleague on the same show and to me that was the most mindblowing part. To talk to Paul Heyman, Shawn Michaels, and to have these people who are still watching the show and now they know who I am and we're on the same show together. And to have Mr. McMahon as a part of my wedding, that's something I never thought i would , that's a sentence I never thought I'd say. There was one point where I was walking past in my wedding dress in the same hallway as Trish and Lita. If you would have told 12-year old AJ that, like I would have, my brain would have exploded."

Backstage News From The RAW Talent Meeting - What Was Said, Feelings On Not Speaking Out

As noted before, a talent meeting was held before Monday's RAW. Word is that nobody really spoke up after everything that was said backstage last week.

Talents were told to use common sense in all dealings, mainly when it comes to social media. They were outright told that any kind of xenophobic comments or racial remarks will not be tolerated. It was also pushed that the company is PG programming. The idea is that anything anyone says that wouldn't be in good taste to children should not be said. Officials didn't use those exact words but that was the message sent.

Regarding nobody speaking out, the feeling was that whatever problems there could have been from the talents, are all quelled because the top guys are happy with their positions and aren't going to make waves, and the bottom guys can only lose their jobs if they were to speak out. With AW being fired, most felt that it wasn't worth the risk to say anything that would come across as complaining.

And THIS is why I don't want to see my boo Jamie (aka Velvet Sky) or L4OA's boo, Angelina Love, in WWE. They'll be abused and misused! disbelief

Triple H Expected To Focus More On Tag Teams And Less On Divas, Note On Diva Recruiting

Some people who have worked closely with Triple H believe that when he gets more power in WWE, we will see more focus on the tag team division, putting the Divas division on the back-burner even more.

It should be noted that Triple H has never been high on women's wrestling. While WWE has been adding new women to developmental as of late, most of the new recruits are men and not women. Since Laurinaitis has been out of power, the days of recruiting models from agencies seem to be over.

WWE Champ CM Punk Rape Jokes Ain't Funny A.W. Deserved Firing

081612_cm_punk_launch
WWE Champion CM Punk believes Vince McMahon was RIGHT to fire Abraham Washington ... because rape jokes are not funny and have no place in the WWE.

TMZ spoke with the wrestling champ on his way in to Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills last night where he made it clear ... A.W.'s crack about Kobe Bryant during a live WWE event was definitely grounds for termination.

"I don't like to see anybody lose their job," Punk told us ... but says axing someone over a rape joke is "justified."

TMZ broke the story ... WWE fired A.W. last week, claiming it wasn't just the Kobe joke that cost him his job ... A.W. was habitually exhibiting "poor judgement."

WWE Champ CM Punk on SummerSlam, Why He Laid Out The Rock

by Gordon Holmes | August 17, 2012 at 10:10 AM

WWE Champion C.M. Punk (WWE)

It’s been quite a year for CM Punk.

Since cutting the promo that changed his career, the straight-edge superstar has had classic matches, been proposed to, and most importantly enjoyed a WWE Championship reign that is one of the longest in recent memory.

So why would he let the Rock come in and steal his thunder?

I spoke to the Voice of the Voiceless in the days leading up to his SummerSlam title defense to find out why he put the People’s Champ on his back, what we can expect from his triple-threat match, and his take on Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H…

Gordon Holmes: At Raw 1000 you shocked the world when you made the Rock eat your knee. What inspired that sudden move?

CM Punk: I don’t think it was sudden at all. I’d been very vocal about the Rock coming back and cherry-picking the days he comes in. So, when he comes in I’m going to smack him in the face.

Holmes: And how did it feel to finally act out on that?

Punk: It felt very good. It felt like instead of talking that I was backing it up with action.

Holmes: For those who are unfamiliar with your complaints about the Rock, why exactly did you make that move?

Punk: I just think there are a lot of people who work their asses off here. I’m here 24/7, 365 days a year and he’s here like three days a year. So when he comes in here and tries to lay claim to our success and things people have worked hard to establish, it’s a little offensive.

Holmes: It has to be a big compliment career-wise to be the next guy in line to face this huge name. The guy’s had something like two matches in the last eight years.

Punk: We’ll I’m in line to face the huge name if I hold on till the Royal Rumble. The WWE’s like a minefield. Any guy can beat anyone on any given Sunday. So hopefully I’ll make it and I’ll prove to the Rock that you can’t just walk in and pick your days. There’s some tough bastards here.

Holmes: This past year has been pretty amazing for you. And all throughout this, I don’t want to say you were clean-cut, because you’re not, but you were clearly the good guy. Now there seems to be more shades of grey in your character. What is your goal with that?

Punk: I think the goal is to just be myself. Not try to play a character; I’m trying to be me. The best characters in wrestling and sports entertainment are just extensions of themselves. I think the Rock is a great character because that’s him. He’s larger than life. He dials himself up to eleven.

Holmes: But it does feel like there’s a bit of an edge after Raw 1000. Were you holding back before?

Punk: I wouldn’t say I was holding back. There are necessary evils to everything. And, it’s a television show. You can’t show all your cards. We need things to do on a weekly basis and this is a progression of the storyline.

Holmes: What kind of feedback have you been getting about the recent change?

Punk: It varies from extremely positive, like “Welcome back, Punk” to “You’ve turned your back on the WWE Universe.” I think it’s very interesting and dynamic because I really haven’t done anything bad.

Holmes: You’re the WWE Champion, yet John Cena’s matches always go on last at the Pay Per Views. You’ve taken the attitude that it doesn’t matter where you are on the card as long as people are talking about you when it’s over. Is that something that drives your character?

Punk: One hundred percent. I’m the kind of guy, you put me first? That’s the main event. Everyone else can follow me. You put me fifth? That’s the main event. There isn’t going to be anything else on the show that reaches the quality of what I do. You can put whoever you want on last. On the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday show? I’m going out last. That’s the way it is. If they want to put someone else last on television, that’s fine, but they have to follow me.

Holmes: This Sunday is SummerSlam. You’ll be defending the WWE Championship in a triple-threat match against John Cena and the Big Show. What can we look forward to in that bout?

Punk: I’m looking forward to it, first of all. I find it interesting because my last two SummerSlam opponents the previous years have been John Cena and the Big Show. There is a variable in there in a triple threat match where the champion doesn’t have an advantage. The Big Show could pin John Cena, John Cena could make the Big Show tap and I’d lose my title. I don’t have to be involved in the decision. I think that’s going to make me more aggressive. And you’re definitely going to look for the three of us to try to steal the show.

Holmes: The whole Voice of the Voiceless thing kind of kicked off with you against Cena. And Cena, people either they love him or they hate him. But it’s one thing to chant “Cena sucks” and another thing to chant “You can’t wrestle.” Does that get to him?

Punk: You know, I don’t think that gets to John. I think our audience; some of them can be pretty cruel. And they like to hang their hat on that “John Cena isn’t a good wrestler” thing. I haven’t seen that for years. The guy has been a top-level performer for almost a decade.

Holmes: Brock Lesnar is going to get back into the ring this Sunday against Triple H. What are your thoughts on that bout?

Punk: I’m very much looking for to it. Last time Brock Lesnar was in the ring it was a complete spectacle. The guy commands attention, you want to see him wrestle. It’s going to be interesting to see how he mixes with Triple H. He busted open John Cena. Could he do the same to Triple H? I don’t know. Triple H is no slouch himself. He’s a multiple-time WWE champion.

Holmes: My thing with Lesnar is; he’s so entertaining. He’s so fun to watch and seems like he was genetically engineered to be a sports entertainer. It’s a crime that he doesn’t seem to enjoy it.

Punk: Yeah, and that’s why a lot of people are going to want to see this match. I know they called John Cena and the Rock at Wrestlemania “Once in a lifetime,” but this thing is definitely once in a lifetime.

Holmes: Brock will of course have Paul Heyman in his corner. You have called yourself a “Paul Heyman guy” in the past. What’s your relationship like?

Punk: I’m happy to see him when he’s here. It’s great. Before I could only hang out with him when I did shows in the Northeast. I got to grab a bite to eat with him. Now, he’s not here as often as I’d like, but when he shows up on Mondays it makes my day easier. He’s a dear friend I can bounce ideas off of.

Holmes: He gives you advice?

Punk: Of course.

Holmes: Is he someone you’d want to work with in the future?

Punk: I’d love to. But he’s busy with Brock. And I don’t know if the Paul Heyman/CM Punk dynamic would work on screen. I don’t need a mouthpiece. And I think we’re two separate entities. But behind the scenes we get along famously.

Holmes: Last time we talked, I asked you if you could work in any territory, which would you choose. You went with the Crocketts in the ‘80s. I spoke to Arn Anderson a few weeks ago to get his thoughts on that.

Punk: Oh man.

Holmes: I asked him, would CM Punk be the fifth man on a Horsemen War Games team or would he be the guy the Horsemen stomp in the parking lot?

Punk: (Laughs) I’m so interested to find out what he said. This is awesome.

Holmes: What do you think he said?

Punk: I think he said I would have been on the team.

Holmes: No, he said you would’ve been selling tickets with Dusty Rhodes and the Rock and Roll Express.

Punk: Wow. (Laughs) I don’t know if that’s an honest answer cause he always calls me such a heel. It’s flattering either way.

Holmes: I think I agree with him because I have a hard time seeing CM Punk with the tattoos, the piercings, and the straight-edge lifestyle meshing with the limousine-riding, jet-flying playboys.

Punk: Maybe not in this lifetime, no.

Holmes: Another thing we touched on was how you wanted to work with Ricky Steamboat. My question for you now is; how does that feud work with you and your no drugs and your no alcohol in the era of “Just Say No” against someone who was ridiculously clean cut.

Punk: It’s how you spin. I think that’s the fascinating things about me is I can spin it any way I want depending on how I want the crowd to react. There’s a million ways you could do it.

Holmes: Let’s hear an example.

Punk: That’s way too easy, just pick on his family. Remember when I sang “Happy Birthday” to Aaliyah Mysterio?

Holmes: That’s fair…and creepy.

Punk: (Laughs) Thank you.

Holmes: So you serenade Ricky Jr. and boom, instant Clash of the Champions main event?

Punk: I wish. (Laughs) That would have been fun. I was born in a different era. For me, the most flattering compliments I get are from those old-school guys who say I should have been around 20 years earlier.

Holmes: I was reading about your appearance at Chicago Comic Con, and you spoke of a retirement looming in the future. Is that accurate?

Punk: Well, eventually. I’m not going to wrestle forever.

Holmes: Well, yeah.

Punk: (Laughs) I would definitely say I’ve passed the middle point of my career for sure.

Holmes: What goals remain for you?

Punk: Not many. I kind of want to make a few guys and girls. And I think I’ve done a little bit of that with AJ (Lee). I want to make sure there’s a future for the wrestling business when I leave. I want to make sure there are people that fill that void.

Holmes: Are you someone who could just stop, or do you have some Terry Funk in you and we’ll see you two weeks after your retirement?

Punk: I don’t know. I can’t really figure that out. I’ve never done nothing, I’ve never had a break. Maybe I’d miss it in a year.

Holmes: Chris Jericho seems to do it right. It’s almost like he’s got a territory thing going on where he can wrestle, then take a break to let the people miss him, then come back.

Punk: I think that’s a smart thing for anybody. Look at anybody in our industry who’s been injured for any period of time. Like Triple H for instance, he tore his quad and when he came back the response for him was overwhelming. That kind of put him on a new level.

Holmes: When you do call it quits, what’s next? Straight-edge husband? Straight-edge dad?

Punk: (Laughs) Oh boy, I don’t know. Maybe a dog owner first.

Holmes: It’s all baby steps.

Holmes: The one movie I was super psyched to see this year was “The Avengers.” Now that I’ve seen that, the next thing I’m psyched for is the CM Punk DVD I keep hearing about.

Punk: To me it’s not a wrestling DVD, it’s just a hell of a story. Obviously I’m biased because it’s me, but I don’t think we’ve put out a DVD that’s this honest and raw and touches on where somebody came from, all the way to the point where they are now. There’s a lot of real-life stuff in there, Family stuff, from the day I started to Wrestlemania. Some of it’s touching, some of it gets me mad when I watch it. It’s an emotional story. And I don’t think you can write something better than that. It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s me.

Holmes: Any word on which matches are going to be included on it?

Punk: The funny thing is when I heard we were doing the DVD, I immediately was like, “Well, I need to be hands-on with this project.” I thought I was going to be picking all these matches and be really nit-picky about what goes on there. But, the documentary is really where I focused all my energy and I really didn’t care which matches went on. The thing about WWE DVDs is a lot of matches get put on different DVD, I just wanted to make sure that the matches that I picked told the story. There’s a beginning, a middle, and an end. You see the progression of my career and how I got to where I am now.

Holmes: Now that “Monday Night Raw” has been extended an hour, who would you like to see featured more often?

Punk: There’s a crop of young, hungry talent in FCW who are hopefully going to get their shake. As far as the people you’ve seen on TV now, Antonio Cesaro is somebody who has a good future in this sport. I’d like to see guys like Tyson Kidd get more air time. And really a lot of the girls. Having an extra hour will give us more time to tell more stories with matches. Hopefully we’ll get to exploit a lot of the hidden gems that we have.

Holmes: You’re also the cover…guy. Wasn’t sure what to call you there, for the new “WWE ‘13” video game. Congratulations.

Punk: Thank you, thank you very much.

Holmes: Is there added pressure on you to be better at the game now that your face is on it?

Punk: (Laughs) No, that’s the one thing I haven’t been asked to do yet, is play it. I’m out promoting it. I’m shooting commercials for it, I’m talking about it. I really haven’t had time to play it, but it is awesome. I can’t wait for it to come out.

Holmes: If I’m Kofi Kingston, and I school you in the game that has your face on it, you’re going to hear about it.

Punk: Yeah. But to go back to my DVD, there’s a Blu-ray extra entitled “Kofi vs. CM Punk.” We throw down a video game challenge. I’m not going to tell you what happens; you’re going to have to see the DVD to see who is the true video game master.

Holmes: I think I know who wins with the way you’re building it up.

Punk: (Laughs) I don’t think I’d be talking about it otherwise.

Holmes: I heard you’re going to be a “Scooby Doo” character?

Punk: Am I?

Holmes: There’s some kind of “Scooby Doo” movie that takes place at Wrestlemania. (To the WWE representative) Is this accurate?

WWE Representative: There’s going to be a variety of voices, but I can’t check my email so I’m not sure. But I think Punk is going to be one of the voices.

Punk: That is awesome. You bring good tidings, my friend. I would love the chance to say, “And I would’ve gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling kids and John Cena.”

Holmes: So you’re hoping when they pull the mask off of the ghost or whatever that the face underneath has slicked-back hair and a lip ring?

Punk: That would be nothing short of amazing. That’d be awesome.

Holmes: I have a theory about you.

Punk: (Laughs) A lot of people do. But I’m interested.

Holmes: Are you immune to peer pressure?

Punk: Yes, one hundred percent. I can’t put into words how I’ve never understood peer pressure. And I’ve seen people cave to do numerous amounts of things. The same people have tried to get me and they give up pretty quickly because they see I’m not interested.

Holmes: Is that the trick? You need to shut people down immediately and then they’ll learn not to even bother?

Punk: I think it has something to do with body language. Because if you dare someone to do something, you can see they’re nervous or scared about it and then you can kind of push their buttons and can goad them into doing something.

WWE Representative: Hold on one second, just to go back to the “Scooby Doo,” I just checked the press release and as of right now CM Punk is not a voice.

Holmes: Now I feel terrible.

Punk: (Laughs) Get me on this!

Holmes: C’mon, work some magic!

WWE Representative: We can do our own.

Holmes: Social media is changing the face of entertainment. When I was a kid, the WWE Superstars were these untouchable heroes, now you can jump online and have a conversation with them. Do you lose some of your…I don’t know…your aura by opening yourself up to the public?

Punk: No, I don’t think so. I think the appeal of my character is I’m just a regular guy. I’m one of the people. A kid who wants to tweet something to his hero John Cena? I think that’s awesome. Making us more accessible to the fans makes us larger than life. A lot of kids look up to us like we’re heroes, and tweeting a yes or no answer to his question can makes his day.

Holmes: You strike me as very much an “I’m not a role model,” kind of guy. And yet, straight edge, with the no drinking and no drugs, does seem to be a very positive message for kids.

Punk: I get a lot of moms and dads at autograph signings. Their kids will come up with “Drug free” written on their fingers in markers and they’ll be X’d up with their wrist tape. For me, it brings me down to Earth and makes me feel nice to hear moms say, “My kid wants to be like you. Thank you.” That’s humbling to me. I try not to be preachy about it, but if a mom thinks they can put their kid in front of a TV and say, “OK, you can watch this.” That’s very flattering.

Superstars, celebrities shine bright at be a STAR SummerSlam VIP Kickoff Party

August 17, 2012

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – The stars were shining bright at the Beverly Hills Hotel Thursday night at the be a STAR SummerSlam VIP Kickoff Party. Celebrity guests, such as DJ Pauly D, Terry Crews, Maria Menounos, and Olympic Gold Medalist swimmers Ryan Lochte and Tyler Clary mingled with WWE Superstars and Divas. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)

“The fact that you guys have taken this cause on and championed it when you know these kids look up to the Superstars and Divas — it means a lot,” Menounos said about be a STAR. “I know those are the things that help make change.”

After walking a media-studded red carpet, the Superstars, Divas and celebrities socialized around the iconic pool at the century-old luxury hotel on Sunset Boulevard. DJ Pauly D of “Jersey Shore” fame lit up the turntables at the happening soiree.

“It’s such an amazing event, especially the anti-bullying campaign – don’t be a bully, be a STAR – I love that slogan. So I’m running with it, I tweeted it today, I like it!” said DJ Pauly D.

The party kicks off SummerSlam weekend as WWE takes over the greater Los Angeles area for a four-day long celebration. This includes events such as SummerSlam Axxess, be a STAR Alliance rallies, a screening of WWE Studios’ “The Day” and Superstar and Diva visits to local children’s hospitals, not to mention the biggest event of the summer – SummerSlam!

“I think this is great!” World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus said. “It’s the 25th Anniversary of SummerSlam. We’re going to kick off the STAPLES Center on Sunday the 19th, and of course, we have Axxess going on. So there’s no bigger place to be than LA this weekend. “

DJ Pauly D

The be a STAR Party also celebrates a successful year of WWE and The Creative Coalition’s be a STAR Alliance. WWE has held more than 40 anti-bullying rallies, speaking to more than 25,000 children.

“I think for our Superstars to be able to go to kids today and say, ‘embrace those things that make you different, embrace those things that kids maybe pick on you for now, because those are the things that make you unique, they make you who you are and be proud of who you are,’” said WWE COO Triple H.

A child is bullied every seven minutes, whether it’s cyber, physical or verbal bullying. Through WWE and The Creative Coalition’s campaign, children around the globe are encouraged to “be a STAR: Show Tolerance And Respect.”

“If you are being bullied, there is a way out of it – go to an adult, go to a parent, go to a guardian, go to a teacher, go to somebody,” Triple H said. “Don’t let it just it just happen. Don’t just put up with it. Don’t think there’s no way to stop it. You can stop it. And if you know somebody who is being bullied, help them stop it.”

Olympic Gold Medalist Lochte told WWE.com he’s been watching WWE since he was a kid, and was thrilled to support be a STAR.

“Growing up, I saw some of my friends, some of my close friends, being bullied,” Lochte said. “I know how that felt to me, and I know how crushed they were. So I am definitely more than happy to be here to help.”

Charlie Sheen Asked About Working SummerSlam, Cesaro's US Title Win Covered, More

- Antonio Cesaro's WWE United States Title win at SummerSlam was covered as a mainstream story by some outlets in Switzerland.

- WWE's 2012 SummerSlam pay-per-view from the Staples Center in Los Angeles actually had 17,482 fans in attendance with 14,000 paid.

- We noted before that it came out Charlie Sheen had a family party the night of SummerSlam that was planned months in advance. While at the party, Sheen was asked about working SummerSlam and joked that it would cost WWE a ton of money to get him to do it. Several WWE sources report that WWE is still interested in getting Sheen to work an angle at a future pay-per-view, possibly WrestleMania 29.

Wednesday Blog..Austin/Punk..Tryouts..SummerSlam..Order JR's at WWEShop.com

Writing aboard Delta Airlines between LAX and Orlando.

Short, random thoughts..nothing overtly cryptic unless it's a slow news day.

Had fun in LA w/ the Mrs. Great folks @WWEGames and THQ awesome to work with. & I highly recommend Pre ordering WWE13. Not sure how THQ follows this one. JR and a motivated King handle Attitude Era aspect of WWE13.

Enjoyed SummerSlam by and large. HHH/ Lesnar was intense and old school. Loved it. Some younger fans who like circus acts may have wanted more high risk stuff.

Who is the best in the world? My answer is essentially always the same. The WWE Champion. @CMPunk has a JR's BBQ sauce bottle sized chip on his shoulder. It drives him...same back in day for @steveaustinBSR. Not a show biz presentation. Real life motivation.

Who's the MVP of WWE thus far in 2012 in WWE? For me, @WWEDanielBryan.

Enjoyed working at tryout camp in LA this week. Appreciated the effort put forth. Too many not in great, physical condition which was disappointing. More potential, female prospects, in my opinion, tham males. Gruelling three days w/ cuts being made Monday and Tuesday. Anxious to see who makes it as I turned my info in and am not attending day three. Next big camp in Tampa in September.

WWE losing several, top hands for the immediate time, HHH, Lesnar, Jericho, etc. Great time to get someone hot and for aggressive talents to take bold steps.

In route to Orlando for Thursday night NXT at Full Sail University featuring WWE Champion @CMPunk. I may broadcast a bout or two w/ Punk which I'd enjoy. Every NXT bout is critical for each talent. Evaluations are never ending & cuts can occur at any time. That's no secret.

Performing under pressure simply makes one better. Business has been good re: JR's Products at http://www.wweshop.com. I really appreciate your support. @americansoda will begin distribution of JR's in UK, etc in September...Date TBD. Expect to see NXT Champion Seth Rollins defend his NXT title for 1st time at NXT tapings. I'll be curious to hear Punk's comments on Rollins and other NXT talents. Speaking of Punk, can we expect a Punk vs @jerrylawler bout at some point? After what we witnessed Monday, I'd guess yes. That bout might pleasantly surprise some fans. I'm SO ready for college football season. Ready to take the ride w/ my Oklahoma Sooners for what could be a championship season. Maybe I'll see you in Norman or at a #boomersooner road game.

Great deals at WWEShop.com. Check w/ them daily. Follow on twitter @wweshop. We've topped 515,000 Twitter followers @ JRsBBQ. Please join us. Heard recently from @TheRock who's interested in getting more of JR's Main Event Mustard. VERY healthy and clean. Plus, it tastes awesome. Loving Little League Wirld Series. Gotta go some day. Check out my piece on announcing w/ Vince McMahon at wwe.com at their classics section. Great sitdown interview w/ Austin & Punk taped last Thursday in LA. It will begin acting soon on a variety of platforms including THQ.com. Follow @wwegames for details. I think it's must see and was there first ever face to face interview. It was intensely respectful and somewhat combative. Intriguing. Again, thanks for supporting JR's products. BoomerSooner! J.R. @JRsBBQ

Amy Schumer, Comedian, On Breakup With WWE's Dolph Ziggler: 'The Sex Was Too Athletic'

Posted: 08/23/2012 12:50 pm

Amy Schumer Dolph Ziggler Sex Too Athletic

Amy Schumer is certainly no wallflower when it comes to sex. So when she went on the "Howard Stern Show," she was more than happy to open up about sex with her WWE star ex, Dolph Ziggler.

On his Wednesday show, Stern asked Schumer about her split from fellow comedian and Roseanne Barr roaster Anthony Jeselnik. ("He was not attentive enough," she said.)

Schumer told Stern that Jeselnik had to win her back. “I was [already] dating somebody else. I had a boyfriend. A wrestler," she said. Schumer then revealed her heavyweight lover was Ziggler, and a discussion about sex soon followed.

“The sex was too athletic. Always. [But] the first time, I was like, ‘Oh, this is cool. Nobody’s ever ragdolled me.’ He was spinning me like a Globetrotter," Schumer said about Ziggler.

Although his physique awed her, Schumer had to break it off because the sex was just too much. She dumped him via text, which is when she found out the muscle man had a very tender heart. Either way, though, Schumer was done.

Schumer was on Stern's show to promote her first stand-up comedy special "Mostly Sex Stuff," which premiered Saturday on Comedy Central.

She first appeared on "Last Comic Standing" a few years ago but considers Comedy Central her big break.

"'Last Comic' gave me a lot of exposure but I was like 23 or 24 when I was on there so I was really young with who I was as a comedian back then," she told OC Weekly. "I was dark then but now I am a 31-year-old woman who's been having sex for like 20 years and dating so it's more adult because I'm more of an adult."

Q&A: 'Funkasaurus' Brodus Clay leads WWE SmackDown charge into Resch Center

3:48 PM, Aug. 22, 2012 |

Funkasaurus wrecks: Brodus Clay roars into the Resch Center Tuesday with WWE SmackDown.

Funkasaurus wrecks: Brodus Clay roars into the Resch Center Tuesday with WWE SmackDown.

WWE superstar Brodus Clay is bringing the funk.

The 32-year-old Pasadena, Calif., native, whose birth name is George Murdoch, migrated to “Planet Funk” in 2012 with a refreshed gimmick in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Murdoch’s WWE moniker Brodus Clay used to stomp to the squared circle with a straight-laced angry attitude, but this year Clay decided to rebrand himself as the “Funkasaurus”: a fun-loving, near 400-pound fan favorite dancing machine. Though the sudden change of heart came as a shock to fans, Clay believes the “Funkasaurus” fits his real-life personality better than his old, angry bruiser gimmick. It’s been a move that has paid off for Clay so far as he quickly is growing a legion of fans who also want to be a part of “Planet Funk.”

Billed at 6 feet, 7 inches and 375 pounds, Clay seemed destined for WWE. Still showing his agility in the ring on a regular basis, Clay was also a member of his high school football, basketball and track squads and even received a full scholarship to play football at University of Nebraska Kearney, which he accepted. Athletics always have been a part of Clay’s life, but WWE is his biggest starring role to date.

However, becoming a WWE superstar wasn’t always a reality for Clay, who first began his sports entertainment career in 2006. Before that, Clay had been in the business of security, landing a spot as a bodyguard for music icon Snoop Dogg in 2005. It was an opportunity that came from a chance encounter with the star’s staff while Clay was working at Saddle Ranch Chop House in Universal City, Calif. Ironically, a second-chance encounter at Saddle Ranch with then WWE superstar Tommy Dreamer landed Clay another opportunity shortly after, this time in the realm of sports entertainment. Clay went after his new dream in WWE developmental territories but returned as Snoop Dogg’s bodyguard in 2008. By 2010, Clay was back with WWE as part of its NXT series.

WWE NXT is a television program that has launched new talent such as Clay as well as current WWE superstars Wade Barrett and Daniel Bryan. Though it took some time, Clay continued to get face time on WWE programming, eventually landing him on the roster of WWE SmackDown, which pounds the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon on Tuesday.

Much like his pal Snoop Dogg, who recently reinvented himself into Snoop Lion, Clay manifested himself into the “Funkasaurus,” proving reinvention can work as he focuses on having fun with his new gimmick in WWE.

P-C: How did you first break into sports entertainment?

Clay: Ironically, when Wrestlemania came to Los Angeles I was the head of security, a bodyguard for the Saddle Ranch at Universal. I had a whole security crew out there and we ran a pretty big chop house/nightclub and the wrestlers were in town. I had always been a huge fan, probably a little obsessive about it when I was younger, but when I saw Tommy Dreamer and some of the guys there, I immediately took care of them.

We have this huge stage where all the girls dance and stuff and it’s crazy, like 1,300 people. I put all the wrestlers up on the stage where no one would bother them and brought all their food and stuff for them ’cause I was excited that they were there and unfortunately for me — or fortunately I should say — a fight broke out with two of the tiniest ‘unathletic‘ guys. I walked over to them and I tried to break them up and one of them hit me in the arm. It was hilarious. I just looked at him like, are you nuts? I grabbed them both by the back of the pants like children and carried them out like that. I guess the way I did it had some flare and a little bit of charisma and Tommy Dreamer said you should be doing that on TV. I made a joke like you guys aren’t hiring and he’s like we’ll see about that. …

Maybe three months later I was driving in my car and I got a call saying you’ve got a tryout in Georgia and I was like, what? I almost hung up on him. A tryout? So I went down there and I met Bill DeMott and Jody Hamilton (trainers) at Deep South (Wrestling). I had a tryout and it was horrible, but they liked the fact I had a don’t-give-up attitude and I just kept trying to figure it out. They brought me back and they signed me, so I was at Deep South for a little while and then I moved over to FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling).

P-C: You eventually made it to WWE programming, starting with a straight-faced gimmick. However, you later took some time off of TV to reinvent yourself. Tell me about your transformation into the Funkasaurus.

Clay: To be honest, that’s more of who I am. I never was the silent angry type. I’ve always had a big mouth. I’ve always been loud. Some people would say obnoxious, other people say entertaining, charming, it just depends on who you’re around. This is just more of who I am. … It’s hard to be angry all the time I think.

P-C: You’ve been a part of the Raw and SmackDown brands; which brand do you enjoy more?

Clay: When it comes to competing, I just think everyone here is a professional. Probably the guy I was most excited to get a chance to be in the ring with was Big Show. For me, that was a career highlight even though it didn’t really go the way I wanted it to. I was a little banged up, but he was always one of the guys who was a measuring stick in terms of who I wanted to be, so that was a tremendous thrill for me. At the same time, I was nervous because he’s the Big Show (laughs). Both brands are their own world and they’re very different, yet the same. Do I have a favorite one? I just like being used in either one. They’re both great in their own way. Blue is more of my favorite color than red, but it doesn’t really matter to me.

P-C: You had two stints acting as a bodyguard for Snoop Dogg. How did you get that job?

Clay: Once again, at Saddle Ranch a fight broke out (laughs). Snoop’s manager was there and another guy. You have to understand these aren’t tremendous athletic accomplishments. Most guys that fight in clubs, it’s never Jean-Claude Van Damme or some licensed killer. They’re usually pathetic, drunk individuals. It doesn’t take a whole lot and I used to have fun with it, almost like (playing) cat and mouse with them, working on my promos and stuff like that. (Snoop’s management) saw that and they asked me if I needed a job and I was like, sure. Snoop and I just hit it off because he liked my sarcasm and honestly (being a bodyguard) was great in terms of being able to cut promos and get personality. I was always the bad guy with Snoop. I was always the heavy, the one who would say no and I enjoyed it.

P-C: What’s the biggest difference between your WWE career and life on the road with Snoop Dogg?

Clay: Honestly, the biggest thing is that I’m the focus. I’m not focused on somebody else’s well-being and watching somebody else. I’m basically taking care of myself and promoting myself, which is cool. You’re basically your own boss. … It’s a lot more freedom, a lot more responsibility. I think whenever you’re policing yourself, it’s always a lot tougher because if you’re watching somebody else they’ll tell you exactly what they want, but sometimes it’s hard to tell yourself what you want. I like the freedom (with WWE) and the opportunity for individual achievement is obviously a tremendous leap and far more important.

Q&A: WWE’s Brodus Clay – Momma Used to Say

August 22, 2012

Popular WWE Superstar Brodus Clay has an answer for a related-yet-hypothetical question: If he were added to this high-profile match, which of those two behemoths would he most fear hitting him? “Probably Triple H,” says the agile 6’7”, 375 lb. competitor, billed from Planet Funk. “He knows exactly where to hit you.”

Nicknamed “The Funkasarus,” Clay, accompanied by his two ring valets Naomi and Cameron, dances his way to the ring each week, jamming to his beloved entrance theme “Somebody Call My Momma.” Much to the delight of the WWE Universe (the company’s loyal worldwide fan base) the party doesn’t stop once a match begins. When he’s not getting down with his girls, he’s squashing opponents with his wide array of high-flying, high-impact moves. Clay shakes and gyrates from bell to bell, again giving up funk post match.

Brodus Clay steps out the wrestling ring and climbs into this up-close interview with SoulTrain.com.

Soul Train: I recently heard someone refer to you as “the Heavy D of the WWE.”

Brodus Clay: Awww…rest his soul, rest his soul!

Soul Train: Well, can I call you Heavy C?

Brodus Clay: No…let’s go with BC, I’ll leave the “Heavy D” to him. I think he’s the one and only. There’ll never be another one!

Soul Train: I agree. Okay BC, let’s say I actually called your momma, asking her if you could have made it as a Soul Train dancer. What is her response likely to be?

Brodus Clay: Ask her about me, a Soul Train dancer? She’d say her baby could be good at anything he puts his mind to! My mother’s very positive, so she would be like, “Whatever he puts his little mind to, he could do it…but he would need a lot of help.” And we did the Soul Train Line a lot in my house.

Soul Train: Legendary Soul Train dancer Louie Ski Carr was famous for many things–being 6’5”, charismatic, very agile, and how he would jump from one Soul Train stage riser to the next.

Brodus Clay: I remember seeing him do that before!

Soul Train: It was pretty impressive! With Ski’s size, personality and athleticism, do you think he could have become a WWE Superstar?

Brodus Clay: Honestly, it depends on your pain threshold. And jumping from box to box is pretty cool. So it depends on what he could endure. It’s not what you’re doing, but what’s getting done to you, if you can handle it. But yeah, I think he could’ve been a Superstar. Why not?

Soul Train: Since you mentioned “pain threshold,” which of these two things would you rather endure – going through high-intensity dance training or repeating your training to become a professional wrestler?

Brodus Clay: Well…I’ve seen Dancing with the Stars; some of the stuff they go through looks pretty tough. But nobody’s beating you up. So I would rather go through that; our training is pretty tough! Dancing is a cardiovascular nightmare, I can imagine, but nobody’s going to beat you up…except maybe the instructor if you can’t get the moves right. But if I had to pick one to survive, it would probably be the dancing.

Soul Train: BC, once you completed pro wrestling training were you at all surprised by the degree you could propel your body?

Brodus Clay: Umm…yes and no. I played football; I pulled a lot, I left my feet a lot to make blocks. I really didn’t notice. I’ve always been mostly the same cat, so I just assumed that’s what everybody else did once they finished training. You don’t really think you’re doing anything extra special when it’s something you’re doing every day.

Soul Train: People tend to be awestruck when they see a larger person who moves fluently with agility and grace, like they are by your in-ring actions, like with Heavy D and his dancing. But why?

Brodus Clay: I think it’s because of the stereotype and persona of traditionally when you see big, giant guys they’re just someone who stands around stoic, they’re not normal in terms of what’s considered a regular person. Then when you see the fact they’re down to earth, like the same things you like and can have a good time, I think it’s something tickly-funny about it. It’s a good feeling! It eases the tension in the room. People see a big guy dancing and think, “Hey, maybe I can dance with this guy too, or even say hello to him” because he’s not standing there with his fist balled up and a mean look on his face. It’s socially pleasing.

Soul Train: Why is an agile big guy such a hot commodity in your profession? And explain why it’s also so dangerous.

Brodus Clay: Quite honestly there’s not a lot of us out there. It’s dangerous because, like a truck when it hits a wall, the wall is destroyed but the truck is, too. Bigger bones, bigger nerve endings, higher degree for injury. People tend to forget that sometimes. Just because a guy is big, or a monster or a giant, or whatever you want to call it, we’re more susceptible to injury.

Soul Train: I’ve also heard you described as having a lot of heart. I’m guessing you wouldn’t want that broken. But have you ever envisioned you and your mom having the mother/son dance at your wedding?

Brodus Clay: No, because my mother is mad protective. Every girl I’ve dated she’s been mean to. I don’t think that mother/son dance at my wedding would be very pleasant. It would probably be her complaining about the catering or something. She’s very protective. But you know how mommas can be, though: No girl is ever good enough.

Soul Train: As a WWE Superstar you share the spotlight with two women–your ring valets and fellow dancers Naomi and Cameron. And you always appear very respectful of them. Is that a trait learned from your mother?

Brodus Clay: My mother didn’t play being disrespectful to women. I was around grandmas and aunts. You learned pretty quick to be respectful! Me, Naomi and Cameron are like family; we’re like brother and sisters. I watch their back, they watch mine. We travel together, we laugh and joke around together, they help me dance and I help them help me dance. They’re very talented women.

Soul Train: Do you fear the most for their success or their safety?

Brodus Clay: Their safety; their success is on them. They do a tremendous job, and I think they’d be doing a tremendous job with or without me. They’re two special people.

Soul Train: Brodus, if I asked your mom if she ever imagined she’d see you as a professional wrestler on TV dancing with two girls, what is she most likely to say?

Brodus Clay: She would say “no” because she wanted me to be a biologist. (laughs) She wanted me to be her little scientist. She’ll talk about that a lot! That was her plan.

'Claire Lynch' Actress Reportedly Quit TNA Due To Online Harassment From Online Fans

TNA Wrestling concluded the Claire Lynch storyline last night on Impact Wrestling with her legal representative revealing that she never was pregnant and had agreed to blackmail AJ Styles after being approached by Daniels and Kazarian—she drugged Styles and took scandalous photos suggesting he was the father of her fake baby. Lynch did not appear during the segment since she quit the promotion.

Multiple TNA sources have confirmed that Lynch, whose real name is Julia Reilly, immediately quit the company after her identity was discovered online and wrestling fans began bombarding her professional website, YouTube and LinkedIn accounts with "derogatory and hateful messages about her acting, her character's actions and her character's appearance."

As a working actor, Reilly didn't want potential employers and casting directors researching her to come across the hateful scorn, which was described as "some of the most classless garbage you'd expect to see, just low rent message board loser stuff." As a result, she quit TNA and immediately closed her professional accounts in an attempt to deflect the vitriol.
