I was on the PPML. I finally came to terms with the fact that the action had moved off of the list and onto the damn site and here I am.
RIP PPML. | |

I was a regular chatter in "The Holy River", a chat room from Prince's old site www.love4oneanother.com. Well, The Holy River was shutting down as was that particular site... something about the creation or the preparation for his new site...NPGMC or whatever.
Anyway, I learned of this site thru some of the folks who I talked to a lot. I also learned of www.calhounsquare.org from the same peeps... but, that one closed down too. Anyway... after lurking for 'bout 3-4 months, I finally had the cajones to post. The rest, as they say, is .org history. (a Princely edit!) Paisley said: How did you discover Prince.Org.
I visited an Internet cafe called Shaka Bra (that's was the name truly) to see "thedawn" website back in the 90's and searched Webcrawler via Netscape Navigator (I only use Internet Explorer now) and found Uptown magazines website, Hammer's, and Togdog/ppml. I also found something called Freedom chat, and 7magazine chat and I think the togdog prince chat? and used the name LMWP or LoveMenWomenPeace. I remember running into Superman, Aaron and a few others (hmmm) and I thought it was cool. I did not want to stop. So off and on, I would visit the ShakaBra cafe to do a little chatting and find tourdates and prince news. I did not buy a computer until 1998 and then was online since. I would visit the newsgroup alt.music.prince and when togdog/ppml changed into prince.org. I signed up and infact met my wife luvy in the chatroom in mid 2000 and we were married in early 2001. P.org is were we started to get to know each other. So this place to luvy and I, is like an old funky resturant/club we used to dance in. lol! smile... 8)

I just typed in "Prince" and a long list came up, but this one was first on the list...
The rest is history. So...how's everybody doing?

Heavenly said: When I first logged to the net, I stared searchin for Prince websites and bumped into some kind of version of this site. When it started having news, and being updated often, I came back more often. Now I'm addicted.
That's pretty much the same way it happened to me, around November of '99. Been here ever since...off and on Tina (~!~)

i was chatting at steve hammer's prince chatroom, and he turned into a dickhead and shut it down. so we migrated over here in Dec 1996, shortly after the site first opened (as a base for the PPML mailing list).
Almost the same for me. I started chatting at Hammer's and then found the PPML. Been here ever since. Long live PRINCE.ORG!!! **************************************************

The rest is history. Sounds familiar! Yeah... I found this place in 1999... how quickly the years go by. --»You're my favourite moment, you're my Saturday...

In late 1994 or early 1995, I first got on the Web and discovered sites such as the New Power Network and Richie B's morra.et.tudelft.nl server, which hosted plenty of neat stuff (including The Gold Experience in .au format). At some point, I found out about the PML, and when I got my first email account in August 1995, I signed up for it.
As we all know, the PML died, but the PPML was created about a week later, and I signed up for it on the first day. I've stayed with it ever since, and as we all know, the PPML evolved into prince.org. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I lurked for years, don't remember what year that started. But I did enjoy the old org a lot. It was nice to have all the commentary by Ben, and so much was happening with Prince being in the news so often.

I had an infinite number of monkeys on an infinite number of PC's. Lo and behold I found myself here.
Actually no, that's not true. I only had 7 monkeys. They worked shifts.
