I'm a recovering sweets addict.

As a kid, I was addicted to sugar. Stems from my mom's love for the stuff. When you drank a glass of her Kool-aid or whatever, there would be 1/4" of sugar settled at the bottom of the glass.

My favorite candy as a kid (besides anything chocolate) was FUN DIP.

For those of you unfamiliar with the stuff...it's basically colored/flavored sugar that you dip a sugar stick into.

disbelief

Now I've thankfully dulled my sweet tooth. Can't eat a Three Musketeers bar anymore. I've also kicked my Coca-Cola habit (used to drink 2 - 3 glasses a day).

My only remaining bit is my morning coffee. Light & SWEET...as in 6 to 7 packets of sugar.

Other than that, I can go for days without sweets.

nod

omfg With that many packets of sugar you might as well dump half a bag of sugar in your coffee. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I love these damned things as cheap sweet. Only this brand all the other brands taste horrible to me. And only this sweet from this brand I like, can't stand the other stuff. I don't know what it is. I try avoiding like the plague.

Love my son's cheesecake. A REAL cheesecake (in case that's some code word for something else).

Oh, banana torte. Haven't had that in 2 years.

I have noticed when I eat potatoes for a couple of days in a row, my sweet tooth craving drops significantly.

I used to be...but I have stupid kidneys, so IO have all but eliminated sugar. I use splenda in some things.

I know...I know...if it's good coffee I can cut it down to 5 packets.

Also, lately I've been using those flavored creamers.

But sweet coffee is my last remaining sweet-tooth addiction.

I had to give all that up when I got the 'betes. Don't miss it.

That's why I'm trying to get this under control now. Another reason is because it's keeping me from losing my last 25 pounds to reach my goal. Right now I'm stuck in this plateau stage and struggling to leave those sweets on the backburner. I was successful last night at the grocery store, but I need to keep that up.

Two rules:

1. Never go to the grocery store when you're hungry. Plan what you're going to eat, shop once a week and stay out of the store the rest of the time.

2. When you do go to the store shop the perimeter. That's where all the minimally processed stuff is - meat and produce, in particular. Stay out of the interior of the store - that's where all the processed/carby/sweet food is.

When my sisters and I were kids, our favorite snack at diving meets was Jell-O. I mean...we'd open boxes of Jell-O powder and eat it with our fingers. You'd see all these kids (not just us - it was other kids, too) with orange, purple and red index fingers and you know they'd been snarfing Jell-O powder. disbelief lol

I do go to the gym. But I still need to cut down on sweets regardless of that. Luckily, this week I've been good about it.

At times I can go without sweets but my body sometimes tells me I'm craving it when I don't even want any and that's a problem. neutral Chocolate is the devils kin. lol
