Today, I went on a music splurge and bought, among other things, Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book," "Innervisions" and "Songs in the Key of Life." Which should I listen to first? I want to do it right.

I also got The Smiths' "The Queen is Dead" and Michael Jackson's "Dangerous" special edition.

Isn't splurging great?

When you get to Stevie's albums, start off chronologically. Start with Talking Book, then Innervisions (my favorite), then SITKOL

That was my thought too. I think it works with Prince, so why not Stevie? He seems to be an artist who changes a lot with time, so it would probably make most sense to listen to them in order.

speaking of Stevie... i've noticed "at the close of the century" (or is it millenium?) at Best Buy pretty cheap.


is this his best collection? is it a good way to get into him? or is there another better one?

Only if you just want mainly the big hits. Me personally, I like the remastered albums better. Mainly because there is no new material on the box set, no outtakes, no live cuts...so essentially you get the deep cuts along with the hits on the remasters.

yes, but it is the best way for someone who's uninitiated to get into him... because it offers an overview of his entire career, so you can figure out which eras of his career are your favorite and explore those further... it's a really good way to get a lot of songs in one place...
