Inspiration of the Orient (ôr-nt, -nt, r-)
I'm getting ready to do an art piece with Asian inspirations and I usually look into various things from the language to poems, the lettering, clothing, the various ethnic groups even Asian-other mixtures, maps, etc Ancient and Modern.
I love to get background information, history, interpretations etc on different things to add a touch of more meaning to what I'm looking at and how to respectfully incorporate it in my art.
Here are some things I've come across, share you love of this of the Orient or Far East via China, Japan, Vietnam etc (not India that's a whole other topic)
and if you are Asian/part Asian please do share your background.

Cambodian (Khmer)
THAI artwork
Burmese:
I prefer the South East Asian countries that were heavily influenced by Indian aesthetics.
Though I do love some Japanese art. The Chinese art, I think I have to warm up to, because it always reminds me of fancy lunch buffets. | |
