National Caviar Day Is TODAY!! July 18th.
Personally, I will not be celebrating the day. I've never tried it and have no desire to.

caviar is just really not for me. i just don't like the flavor(s) enough to see the point | |

It's like eating very salty, slightly fishy, miniature bubble wrap.
I would celebrate the day, but I don't have any caviar on me. And I have a rehearsal tonight, so I won't be able to get any before the kind of stores that carry such things are closed. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |

I can eat caviar or roe in sushi or with something else....
like on a cucumber slice with dip and fennel.
But alone? Its like busting salty pimples in your mouth.
Actually Genesia gives a good description... the caviar is a nice if its small little balls, the red roe in most sushi is actually good with the wasabi and fresh ginger mixed.
You should try it, it is good mixed with stuff, I can't get deep with it and eat it by the spoonfuls like some of my friends do though. [Edited 7/18/12 17:32pm] | |

As expensive as I've heard it is? Hell no, I haven't tried it and probably never will unless Kroger's starts making a Big K brand of it. Andy is a four letter word. | |

Well I missed this, but I love caviar! Quite similar to paintedlady, I like to eat it with something like cucumbers , bread rounds or blini cakes. I'm also a huge fan of this stuff
fish roe is very popular where I live because we're situated pretty close to the sea. It's part of that culinary lexicon in this region that's allll about fish. Funny enough, when my Japanese friends have visited here one of the things they've loved is the whole fish culture. The North Sea region is pretty much the only place in Europe where they can find people like certain types of fish as much as they do
