Name some reasons why you'd consider the Org to be better than Facebook.

nod

Here are some examples for you to consider;

1) more anonymity

2) cool purple banner across the top

3) possibility that Prince may actually read through one of your posts (remote but still there)

4) Org boobies threads

To those of you who like Facebook better than the Org... talk to the hand

I can post all my personal shit out in the open here... won't do that on FB since my fat face is plastered on there and people can attact my crazy to my face and real name.

So I keep my posts on FB... non-personal as possible. I have trolls from my past viewing my profile there.

That's why I don't use my last name on facebook or any other site, not just so assholes that I've known personally can't find me, but also because I've always been afraid that if someone knows your full name, they can use it for identity theft purposes. And as for profile picture purposes, I just go with my trademark of having a different hot man that changes from time to time in the picture. And I also keep my settings to "friends only" so that a lurker can't get past the profile page. If family asks if I have a facebook page, I tell them I don't have one and that takes care of that. Hell, they bore me being around them in person, so why would I want to be bored with them on the internet too? lol

It's the best place to find Prince YouTube links and sources for all bootlegs.

(I'm kidding, Prince. There's really none of that here. AND THERE NEVER WOULD BE IF YOU'D COME INTO THE 21ST CENTURY WITH REGARDS TO RELEASING AND SELLING YOUR BACK CATALOGUE! hug)

3. Afro-Sheened mullet cut afros.

4. Airlane stewardesses, Hooters waitresses & hookers that were actually good-looking.

5. Being able to list the ten things I miss the most from the 80's in a different thread & no one noticing.

6. Prisons having prison bars instead those rooms with electronically locked doors that they use nowadays.

7. Fantasizing about a menage a trois with the two actresses who play the mother & the daughter on Growing Pains.

And from One Day At A Time (...or was that from the 70's....?).

8. Snatches that even though they were not completely shaven, were well-groomed.

9. Zombies that staggered (as opposed to today where they can actually run).

10. Going to the porn shop, accidently making eye-contact with the guy next to me at the magazine rack who turns out to be the assistant manger of the KFC that I frequent & pretending that we don't know each other even though he always takes my order & knows by heart that I always take potato wedges & cole slaw as my two sides.

This would have been the best post ever on the "What I Miss About The 80's" thread, LOL.

Prince forum: Prince is the only artist I like to talk about. I could have an account in the official/fanmade forums of people like Madonna, The Stones, or Bowie, but, for some reason, I don't.

Music forum: Prince is an eclectic artist, and so are his fans. Here I can also talk about Madonna, the Stones, Bowie and many other pre-80s/post-80s artists

General Discussion forum: exactly the way I expected it to be when I joined back in 2007. Here I find topics I cannot find in Facebook and, like some of you have said, the anonymity is very appreciated...I also think that this site has some edgy but mentally stable people: Facebook is FULL of maniacs, and I mean MANIACS, or millions and millions of people that I don't care about...

I see Facebook as a more immediate/colorful MSN, and specially, as a place to be well-informed about my favorite artists; that's all...

Finally I'd like to add that the.org just needs a new Prince album to shake things up...

A really GOOD new Prince album would not only shake things up around here but would maybe bring back some "lost souls" - the way some came back briefly after the Welcome 2 Australia tour.

Aren't they completely different things? Facebook is for me to keep up with friends and communicate with colleages and friends. Keep track of birthdays, and to promote my stuff. It's a like a talking yearbook with a live signature page.

Prince.org is a message board centered around Prince, and then other discussions, organized by topics, and I don't know any of ya'll.

YES, they are two different entities. I spend 80% of my online time either on the Org or on Facebook.

However, alot of people seem to have "abandoned" the Org IN FAVOR of Facebook.

That's the crux of my thread. wink

Well when you say people are leaving to go to facebook, do you mean Facebook in general or a specific page on Facebook?

I was just thinking the same thing this very minute after reading a thread here. But then I remembered that you still see posts of friends of friends you'd rather not see on FB too....

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

^ That's why I only go on my page. I ain't got no time to be looking at what they're posting or doing in the main front page. I wished you could do that on Twitter but everybody you follow knows your business.

I would say the best thing about coming here is not getting hacked or get sent a virus but you risk your server to be slow sometimes.

The .org works on most browsers.

I don't have to feel ashamed of my juvenile enthusiasm for Prince here.

I've been an "Orger" since spring 2010 and have posted 200+ times. In the org-world I guess that isn't a whole lot of posting. But when I'm inclined to post something, this site is my de-facto music/general interest forum because I'm too busy (lazy??? lol ) to join other sites lol lol . Org all the way wink
