True Blood Episode 5.5 "Boot and Rally" *SPOILERS* As always, I'm looking forward to tonight's episode!
The following comes from HBO via www.true-blood.net "With time running short, Bill and Eric enlist Sookie to probe for clues on Russell’s hiding place. Unable to deal with the demon magic inside him, Lafayette calls out to Jesus’ spirit for help. Patrick Devins (Scott Foley) and Terry are held hostage in a bunker belonging to their Iraq War buddy Brian Eller (Brian Geraghty). Jason wakes to a disturbing dream; Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) gives Tara advice on adjusting to vampire life; Sam visits Luna (Janina Gavankar) with bad news." Sorry!!! The spoilers aren't from Episode 5, but don't read if you're not caught up with this season. WHAAAA? The new True Blood episode thread on a Thursday? No, the episode didn't play early, but www.ew.com has the title song available to listen to and details about how it came together. I like it! http://music-mix.ew.com/2...rue-blood/ Hope you like it! I cant believe were almost 5 episodes in and so little has happened. This season really seems to be dragging and lacking focus. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

It started good, but it's going really slow!

Okay, what has happened so far:
Tara's been turned.
Bill and Eric fighting together for their lives against the Authority.
Bill and Eric are working together to eliminate Russell Edginton.
The Authority and The Sanguinistas have been introduced and there's trouble brewing.
Eric's inside person is his sister Nora, who is in The Authority Council, but she's actually a Sanguinista.
Rev Newlin's been turned. He's a Gay Vampire American who loves Jason Stackhouse and who is the new "Nan Flanagin".
Jessica and Jason have a complicated relationship, which overall is meh, but has lead to some funny moments, hot sex scenes and a well timed glamouring.
Sam and Luna are on the outs. Sam got the shifter friends in the breakup, but Sam has found them both shot in the head. AND OMG I JUST REALIZED WHERE THAT COMES FROM & WHERE IT'S HEADED!!!
The Fae are back. They have a campy strip club/brothel. Cousin Hadley is there and talking too much as usual.
Jason is told by Hadley that vampires killed his and Sookie's parents.
Pretty much everyone is pissed off at Sookie.
The Pelts are looking for Debbie. Alcide told a perfect lie to cover Sookie's murder of Debbie Pelt and Marcus's death.
Sookie and Alcide are making out....as Bill and Eric watch through the window.
Sherriff Andy and Holly have hooked up. Andy's has been posted on facebook. Andy was kissing a fairy at the club.
Arlene and Terry are struggling due to Terry's PTSD and Terry is on a mission with a former military buddy to find another buddy who may be burning down houses etc. Jesus's body is missing.
LaLa has an untamed brujo demon inside him that is very, very bad. And there's still more and more to come!!!
As usual there's a ton of storylines, so each one is only touched on briefly in each episode and progress is slow and jumpy, but I'm loving this season.
Surprise, surprise [Edited 7/6/12 10:44am] [Edited 7/6/12 10:45am] I'm firmly planted in denial

Seeing Luna's daughter turn into a puppy and run off was kinda cute, lol But damn who's trying to kill all of the shifters? I agree with everything moving kinda slow, but I'm sure it's all leading up to something good... Tara & Hoyt?.....not feeling these two yet Not feeling Terry and this "fire monster" chasing him and fellow soldiers ... What the hell @ LaLa & Jesus?!! And finally they found Russell!!!... I'm looking forward to what's about to happen

My favorite episode of the Season so far. "Alcide, you sure know how to treat a lady." Jason in He Man footie pajamas. "Andy! Cheese and crackers Andy! Would you put some clothes on? Have you lost your mind?" Sookie laughing through her fingers at Bill, Eric & Alcide then stepping through her broken door, "Thanks a lot Tara." So much more...just an excellent episode. Enjoyed tonight's episode.
Fire monsters now too? LOL. I must say that as much as I've loved Terry (love that character and he's so cute , now knowing what went down in Iraq I wouldn't feel all that bad if the three army dudes got killed off.
As much as I Chris Meloni I'm not feelin him yet as a TB character. He just makes a lot of long winded speeches so far.
I cannot take Salome's wig.

I feel the same way about Chris Meloni. Fire monster aside, I like Terry's story more now that we're seeing more of it. War is not pretty. Our veterans coming home are dealing with serious, messy shit. Acknowledging that TB is a fictional example, our Vets have to cope with overwhelming issues. The show is showing the struggle...again, in a fictional way. I'm firmly planted in denial

hot damn that was hot!! the fire monster cgi was cool and kind of reminded me of the balrog from LOTR
yeah sookie toss them cookies up cause we both know wolves aren't the real deal!! lol
i really love sam but seriously if that dude was hanging with me i would have 2 break out cause a lot of dead folk seem 2 happen arond sam
i don't belive it's nora that freed russelll but now that russell has been found ..let the chaos begin!!
cool bonding scene between jess and tara
jason in the pj's was cool
smh and andy ..lol
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Agreed. War is definitely not pretty. And for sure I think vets often get a shitty deal. Unless I was watching a different show though, the 3 vet characters took down a shitload of innocent folk cause they were high. Just cause at the last minute Terry was all "We can save her, she's still alive" about the 1 survivor doesn't make me feel any more sympathetic for the character. Folk get high/drunk to escape horrific situations all the time and when they fuck up and hurt others because of that they gotta pay the consequences regardless.
Here I was hoping that his army bud coming back was just gonna lead to some scandalous 1-time-in-war gay encounter storyline. [Edited 7/8/12 22:40pm]

No, we were watching the same show and I agree, they gotta pay the consequences. That's what I liked about it. They are US soldiers, but they fucked up. Not all our men and women in uniform are like that and again, this is fictional, but it's messy.
And as for the 1-time-in-war gay encounter...there's still 7 episodes left. I'm firmly planted in denial

Sorry, we have to disagree O.G. I'd scratch that wolf's belly any day of the week.
What I'm really worried about is they're going to kill off Russell before he has a chance to bring the chaos.
Anyone notice in the preview that Hoyt was covered in blood. Was there a vampire with him that got staked/hit somehow? Tara? Jessica?? I'm firmly planted in denial

I don't think you have to worry about Russell getting killed too soon. I've read he's around for a bit, is a bit more mellow (though still deadly), and even gets a new boyfriend. [Edited 7/9/12 18:23pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I just watched it yesterday because I had to watch "Talking Dead" to finish up the "Walking Dead" weekend marathon...
Anyway... I honestly don't know how I feel about this last episode. I feel like there are too many storylines going at once, like they're trying to cram as much in as possible, or give everyone "work".
They're losing me... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

From what I've read around the web, that is the main complaint about the show. Folks want the secondary characters to be left in the background. I don't think this would be an issue if they shot more than 12 episodes a season.
I'm firmly planted in denial
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly! Then it would be spread out... They keep adding things without resolving others.

Yeah, the fire monster thing is kinda unnecessary. I don't really care to see that storyline any more.
The Lala storyline kinda has my interest but only because I feel the brujeria / santaria / religious crazy people stuff is more real and down to earth.
They way theyve written the shifter killing stuff kinda has me apathetic. They never really made me care about his girlfriend at all so when they shot her I kinda didn't care.
Hoyt and Tara.. whatever.. I only like Jessica cuz she's hot rest of that storyline I could care less about. Change it one more time..
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
For me, what it boils down to is I like all the characters and all the story arcs, but in their limited amount of time/episodes, I don't want time spent on the secondary storylines. I'm firmly planted in denial
