Real Hip Hop.

Good RnB music.

I know there´s still a lot of good music out there if you really look for it but come on, I know you still listen to stuff from the earlier decades. wink

Good music channels (MTV, VIVA, radio stations that cared about music).

Other than that, not really much. Maybe cheaper gas and nicer looking cars. But a lot of things are so much better in the here and now, including the way people look. I think being younger today has its perks, too, despite all the things the younger generation is missing out on.

i agree - ppl now tend to look after themselves way more than they did back then

In no particular order:

1) Record stores: There were two that were my favorite, one called Tracks and one called Peaches. I would go to Peaches every Tuesday to get the latest issue of Billboard to see where Prince's latest music was charting or grab a 12 inch single...I had so much disposable cash back then.

2) Living at the dorm: For three years I roomed in a four person dorm apartment that had half international and half American students. I learned so much about people and did so so many stupid things. Whether it was getting wated on MD 20 20 and watching Beavis and Butthead at three in the morning or heading to Charlotte to catch Midnight Oil and Ziggy Marley just because I could. I managed to pass a class every now and then and was not getting laid in the slightest but it was the time of my life.

3) Sitcoms at their peak: With all due respect to the great sitcoms of the 80s, there was nothing quite like following Friends, Seinfeld, and Frasier at their peak.

4) Cowboys winning Super Bowls: Haven't won one since 1997...LOOOOONNNNNGGGG dry spell.

5) The awkward courtship of my future wife: Our first date was a blind date at the Rhythm Nation stop in Columbia, SC.Stuck in the friend zone for half on the 90s and then one day, bam, things changed. So much effort went into convincing her that I could be more and though we have had a rough time or two I am so grateful that I have her in my life.

the 90's were when record stores seemed to fade away sad

and yes the sitcoms!!!! some of those shows r still funny now ~ seinfeld was the best and sometimes if something funny happens i always say thats a Seinfeld moment and then my kids r like this.... whofarted

lol

I agree!!!

Even taco bell tasted like "real food" back then. When I bite into a nacho chip nowadays, it's like ground-up cardboard & plaster with a hint of corn.
