Is caffeine really bad for you?

If so, why? I hear so many conflicting things

That would depend on YOUR body. Caffeine has drug qualities because it speeds your heart rate and thins the blood a bit.

Good for a person with too low blood pressure or if you are tired but bad for a person that tends to suffer from high blood pressure.

Coffee is also a nautral anti-biotic, I use it to cure pink eye. Yup, pour the cooled off black stuff right in my eye and it kills any bacteria. Next day the eye is right as rain.

I also use a hot cup of coffee as a quick cure to stop an acute asthma attack... it works when my lungs tighten up from the cold weather in the winter.

It's good for you, in moderation of course.

If you read the UK newspaper 'The Daily Mail' it tells you everything is good for you and everything is bad for you.

The truth is eveything in moderation. Listen to your body, if it's not performing well, think about what may have caused it and cut that out of your diet. If your body recovers cut it out permanently or accept the consequences.

doh!

No, I don't! I only know how caffeine affects me. lol

Caffeine is one of those "your mileage may vary" things - frankly, caffeine consumption can be good or bad.

For me, it's mostly bad. I have hypoglycemia, and caffeine makes my blood sugar even more unstable than it might be otherwise. I'm also extremely sensitive to its stimulant effects - any caffeine after noon is going to make getting to sleep difficult later.

If you're a woman, it can also affect your estrogen levels. Might not be a problem for most, but if you're estrogen dominant (as a lot of middle-aged women are), that's not a good thing.

About the only thing I use caffeine for anymore is migraine relief - but only if the headache hits early in the day. For me, the kick just isn't worth the side effects.

The experts say that excess amounts of caffeine is bad for people's health. Alcohol and or smoking is really bad for people.
