I had a huge crush on him, too, but everyone knoew he was gay...it's no news flash to me, being a fan of his and all. I could tell. How could you be that good looking, well-dressed and be "single" for a good 20 years of your journalism career? It's possible, but not very common."I took another bubble bath, with my pants on. This is a bit like George Michael coming out; why bother except that gay men may think your avoidance of actually speaking about it is due to feeling ashamed of your sexuality. Both men could "pass" as bi I guess but few where ever fooled that they were straight. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. I got annoyed with some folks when they claimed George was "ashamed". Sometimes figuring out your sexuality can take years in advance. There's folks who openly lived lives as straight, gay or bi and then decide "okay that's who I am". I mean it's not as simple as people may think it is. |

Congrads but really its not a big reveal, hes always been pretty much out in the open just never felt like he had to do a news conference bout it. Actually, as I reread his comment above, it seems rather than mulling the disclosure of something of which he thought many weren't aware, he was rather considering addressing the "elephant in the room," as he recognized that not doing so offered people latitude to assign motivations that weren't, in fact, the case. I stand -- or rather lounge -- corrected.
He was out to the people who mattered; his friends, family and colleagues. WE don't matter. The populace at large doesn't matter. My point is just that he never made some grand announcement to the world that he was coming out of the closet. He was already out and he didn't actually make an announcement at all. |

Not sure if it's already been mentioned (haven't read all the comments) but I read somewhere that CNN has experienced its lowest ratings in over 20 years....perhaps a lame attempt at reminding folks that CNN is still alive and kicking? I stopped watching them when they kept doing those "Black in America" series which (in my opinion) were VERY depressing.... Trolls be gone! |

Anderson has gotten ALOT of flack from a certain segment of the gay community that believes that not being OUT N PROUD to everyone at first meeting is seen as being a coward and afraid of being gay. They have been pushing Anderson for years to make this announcement. Thats why its newsy. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything. |

But GM had a boyfriend years before he came out, so i think he already figured out his sexuality.
everyone should live their life as they want too, but it would be cool to see people like Cooper not wait years to come out. He also figured it out years ago. |

Yeah I know. George said he had his first real boyfriend in 1991 (I think) like right before he was 28. He admitted that much when he did that '98 interview. Before he had a girlfriend or two (and from what I heard, his relationship with Kathy Jeung was real serious and intense). And I think he got involved in bisexual orgies (by his own admission). |

You guys may attack me for this but hear me out. I myself as a gay men can see why some people may not want to automatically come out.
Because whether we like it or not being gay is seen as a big thing when it shouldn't be.... And if i was releasing music or movies or just any kind of work i would want to be known for that work. Not for oh that gay guy who does this or that, it's true that once you come out you are seen as a ''gay artist'' And some artists want to appeal to everyone not just gay.
George Michael appealed to everyone but when he came out his music was quickly labeled as ''gay'' same with Elton.. and i remember Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys saying he somewhat regrets coming out when he did. Because he didn't want PSB to be seen as stritctly a gay band.
So idk i can see why some artists or news people or whoever may feel the need to not make it a big announcement for reasons like that. It would be nice if someone coming out wasn't headline material as it's just a purely natural thing....
But we have a long way to go before that happens sadly Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
