After months of rumors and denials, Johnny Depp’s publicist confirmed his split from Vanessa Paradis in a statement to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ on June 19. Keep reading for the official statement.

The couple has been together for 14 years and have two children, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.

“Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.” Depp’s publicist said

I think issuing a statement via one's publicist to a gossip rag entertainment news program about one's private life and how one would like to keep said private life private is contradictory.

I thought this was old news. 14 years isn't bad given his public exposer. I can't say I'm sad about it, nor am I happy. But you know he's getting hounded left and right, how he's handling it, that's what I'm most curious about.

They've been apart for some time. I thought they already separated anyways... plus Johnny probably wanted to return to the US full time. He's been in America more in recent years than he was during the first few years of his relationship with Vanessa when he moved to France with her.

So he was so into France 'cause of her? I wonder if we'll start seeing a personality change. Doesn't seem to be one so far and that's cool. But you know how folks get sometimes, especially when they get deep into the hollywood mentality. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, to be seen.

Hmm, I always got the impression he thought France was such a better place than the States. So it was all colored by love, go figure. I shall be staying tuned.

Maybe I'm wrong but I figured he lived there so in the event of a divorce/separation that she won't clean him out and take all that he owns. On top of the fact that they never officially married and lived overseas, it would be different say if they lived in L.A. for 14 years, had 2 kids and got divorced. He would be making like Pirates of the Carribean part 25,no doubt, LOL

For about 2.5 seconds I was glad to hear because it makes you think you have a "chance"...I'm reading the comments on other blogs like, "Wow, lots of women are happy to hear this, LOL" I guess he'll never have anything less than legions of women to choose from.

He always used to say he loved France and culture. I doubt it was only cause of her. I never really liked Depp, I think he's unattractive.

No, it's not stupid. If people divorce, there is usually a reason, and since they were both seperate for some time, but just made it official - what makes you think they are sad and may come together again?

It's what you wish, but it doesn't change the fact that they are divorced for obvious reasons.

It's going a bit off topic, but I don't think there is any regional choc in Mpls that isn't available in the rest of USA, so it wouldn't make a difference anyway, cause I'm gonna get the damn chocs anyway. It's a deal we been working on now!
