My Cats Balls (aka Random Pictures You've Taken Of Stuff Other Than Your Own Face, Food or Ass)
Messin' around with a newish camera. Working through editing some flower and garden pics. But for now, here's my cat's balls. He's inside his carpeted play box, which I CLEARLY need to vacuum, or brush, or... somethin'.

Well, ya know, I wanted to be sure. I mean, at least I checked.

The newish camera does some nice macro work when you can get your subjects to sit still. I snapped about twenty before I got close to what I wanted with this one.
Honey bee on catnip blossoms.
I'm still not happy with the crop and resizing. It actually looks better smaller...
An earlier attempt with a less willing subject...

I definitely need to get one of these tomorrow from the top.

Some other kind of bee. I have no idea what it is, but it looks cool. It was actually flying when I took this. Well, hovering, anyway.

Clearly, you speak cat! He's a total lazy punk ass. He'll lay like that and watch you walk around the room finding balls to set on his belly.

[Edited 6/30/12 17:03pm] Aaaaaawwwww! Love his expression!

Orange cat contemplating something. Probably jumping on his lazy punk ass brother.

Thanks! I'm trying to get some better clear shots of his expressions, which are many and varied. At least, many variations of looking like a giant lazy punk ass. He's not really used to having a camera in his face just yet, though.

your cats are very cute. I have two my self. and a newly third song! these pictures are neat!!!

Orange cat, on the other hand, was trying to stick his nose in the camera lense. This is with no zoom, just getting close trying to get the macro to kick in. But he stuck his face in the camera so it went all blurry.

Thanks! They're brothers. Their mother's water broke on my lap. And I was there while they were being born. There was four in the litter and they all looked completely different. So far, these two have never been apart save for the two days orange cat was at the vet when he broke his hip.
I love cats, but I've never had two at one time before. My last one lived either 13 or 14 years and was never as healthy and robust as these guys. The black and white one is bigger than a small dog, by far.

Found this guy in a shrubbery when I went to the store a bit ago. I took a bunch of pics, but he actually wasn't very big and this is the only one that came close to being clear.

awesome. i love taking pictures of nature, thier something and by me saying this i will sound a bit silly, well something spiritual to me at least, the combinantion of art and nature. I loved wandering through the park, as a teen and taking pictures of trees, shrubs, animals, etc.

If I had one. I love 'em both. But he's actually the annoying, high energy brother. Black & white cat just lays around watching him, like, "p'shh! You know they'll BRING YOU those balls." He does lay on my left foot every night until I fall asleep, though.

Totally agree. These pics are the beginning of my attempt to do more of exactly that.

Cool thread!
Here's an interesting one (for me at least)...it's the FIRST pic I snapped with my new camera...
...taken at 11:11am on 11/11/11
Here's the requisite "cute pet" pic...
And here's some "nature" shots...

The Dragonfly Incident
This thing was hangin' around the back yard on top of the bamboo plant stakes today. Took almost two hours and about a hundred shots to get these pics. It kept flying away and coming back, landing on a different stake almost every time. Couldn't really get in front of it, either, because it would get twitchy (literally) and fly away. Had to reach around from underneath and behind to to get any kind of shot of it's face. In the close-up pictures the lense of the camera is just a couple millimeters away, almost touching it. The full-size images are crazy - you can see hairs, spikes, segments and all other kinds of bug stuff.
Just as I came inside a pair the same size as this one, but very dark, started flying around. Unfortunately they never landed on anything. I think they must be seeing the bird bath from the air. The stakes the one in the pictures below is sitting on are no more than 2-3 feet from the bird bath.
Not a great pic, but good for a size example. The larger fence slats are six inches across. The wings on the dragonfly were about four inches across, it's body somewhere between three and four inches long.

This is as close as I could get to a portrait. It was still twitching it's head around, which is why it's face is kind of blurry.

Pretty close to the same picture, and I took a lot more of these. Large portions of it's wings were sparkling gold in the sun, but it was very hard to capture any of it in the pictures. These two are as close as I got.

Love the owl. I've got two of these guys in the backyard. I was trying to get a shot with the face centered to use for an avatar. For whatever reason I just couldn't quite get it. Probably because they're sitting on the ground. But they're about two feet tall and made of solid concrete, so they're a pain in the ass to move.
Your black and white cat takes good pics, too. Mine just won't chill if I get close to them with the camera.
