Also, of COURSE it's dangerous FOR the guards. Prison guards get killed someplace in the US every year.
It's just tension that regular people, living their everyday lives can't even begin to understand. It's a completely different world.
I'm not sure how many people have every really known somebody who just doesn't give a fuck, but I have. I'm talkin' about people who will do violence that leaves another person permanently injured, or dead, and not feel bad about it. People who will do crimes simply because they've got nothing to do this afternoon. A portion of the population at all state prisons is THOSE people. Another portion of the population is people who will do whatever they can, or whatever it takes, to protect themselves. If you don't fall into one of those two categories you're going to become a victim sooner or later.
OMG, you do the exact same kind of typo I do!!

sounds to me like you heard one or 2 stories and have drawn your conclusion.
If a prisoner can throw piss or shit on a guard and the gaurd has not official or legal recourse...is there any wonder why other shit might go down for it?
yes, there are asshole gaurds, there is no question but I feel the majority of them are NOT, and yet are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
No, it's not one or two stories. I used to work at the state hospital that was next door to the prison. The state employees "stuck together", and there was cross-training between the prison and the state hospital. There were quite a few stories of what regularly goes on there. As I said, the current prison guard (ex-marine) is a friend and he talks extensively about what goes on in the prison. The older female friend also would talk extensively about work. It was normal for us, as state employees, to discuss issues we came across in order to cope with the issues we faced and to offer support to one another. Trust me when I say, there are numerous, numerous stories, that I've been told. (And even working in the state hospital, I witnessed a few incidents on the NGRI ward.)
AND what about your friend who was nearly raped...you act like, oh well.
If that prisoner got a few whacks for attempting to rape an old lady...he should consider himself LUCKY! that's what I mean, people are more concerned for the criminal than the innocent sometimes! "not a fan" yeah...ok |

no...only those sentenced to life have nothing to lose is what I said. and nothing will stop some of them. Ha...they DO take their job VERY seriously! their own life depends on that.
you are speaking outta yer ass! I'm talking about protection from the law! inmates can file complaint after complaint and file suit against guards. Gaurds can not. Inmates can throw shit or piss on guards everyday and the gaurds can do nothing about it...not even force the inmates to take an AIDS test to see if the guard has that to worry about...NO! the gaurd has to go be tested for 6 months to make sure he/she is not infected with anything. wtf? Prison guards make pretty good money...but they should, they have a very dangerous job! But they don't make THAT much money where your stupid ass coment is warrented.
Guards need protection from the law?
Who protects the inmates? Isn't that the guards' job?
Poor guards. People complain about them misbehaving.
I'm so sure guards do beat, assault, rape, abuse and/or allow it to happen to prisoners.
Those are just guard hating prisoners who say such things right?
Guards are human beings, just like the inmates. Guards don't have halos.
Guards make damn good money. Fuck schools pay prison guards . . . . .
yes! they do...didn't you fucking read what I wrote?
the inmates have protection from the law!
poor convicted murders
I've never denied that some gaurds are assholes. that doesn't mean they all are or even that he majority are.
ha....prisoners (in max security) tend to know how to manipulate the system. and haven't you ever heard every one in prison is innocent and was framed!
Guards are NOT CONVICTED murderers/rapists so they are alot closer to having a "halo" than the inmates!
Now I know you're nuts....Median Prison Guard pay $39,020 per year $18.76 per hour. http://www.bls.gov/ooh/Pr....htm#tab-1

So guards can't write up prisoners? So how does a prisoner get time added to their sentence for assaulting a guard?
I don't believe guards have no policy for reporting inmates. That door should be swinging both ways.
Let's see how you feel if you or a love one were sent to prison. Let the guards do as they please. After all, they need protecting from you, right?
As far as I know....NO. A prisoner gets time added on to their sentence if they kill someone in prison or try to escape...other than that...it's not persued. And if someone is serving 2 or 3 life sentances...what would that matter anyway?
If there is a reporting policy....I'm sure it would only make the guard who reports them even more of a target.
I will never be sent to prison so I'm not worried about that. AND if a family memeber of mine goes to Max security prison it would mean they killed or raped one or more people and I'm not going to be too worried about how they are treated in prison. They will most likely get a college degree while there in there.
Let's see how YOU feel if a loved one of yours is ever a prison gaurd.

As BS as the rest of your post. I'm sure a lot of innocent people in prison once thought the same thing.
You can be tried for crimes you commit in prison. What do you mean its not pursued? Guards never file complaints?!!!
I wish my relatives were well paid prison guards. The job isn't so bad that they aren't willing to do it is it?
Who do you know has gotten a college degree in prison? Is that why the unemployment rate is so high because of all these convicts coming out of prison with degrees?!!!
You are simply trying to be an apologist except you're clueless. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

The topic I was responding to was whether prison guards are ever assaultive to criminals. I used the example of my friend to show that, yes, they are. I did not discuss my emotions about my friend's attack. The prisoner ended up getting extra time added due to the attack, and was punished twice. (Once by the guards and the second time by the judicial system.) I do not feel that prisoners need to be treated in a sub-human way. I believe they should be punished for their crimes by the judicial system, and not abused by prison guards. If the prison guards are abusing the prisoners, what then separates them from the prisoners except for the uniform? I am against abuse in ALL forms. We can't say that we are against abuse and then say, "Oh well, except for this one." If we do that, eventually we become a nation in which it is impossible to tell the good guy from the bad guy. Wait! We are already that nation.
