If anything I only started getting, or taking compliments seriously, in the last few years. I can relate to this. People who have known me for a long time have said that I "grew into" my looks, and I've really only been getting compliments on them for a few years. Let's set the time machine back to August 1994 and look at my high school senior picture: And now, let's look at February 2003... eight and a half years later: Putting aside things that I can control and change, such as my hair, I think my looks have significantly improved with time. For one thing, you can see that my face has filled out. No plastic surgery or anything... that's just how I've naturally aged. I'm not sure I'd call myself "beautiful," although I do seem to get called "cute" often these days. That and similar compliments can make me feel a little bit awkward, because it's new ground. Don't get me wrong--I definitely enjoy and appreciate them, and they do make me feel really good at the same time--it's just a little weird for me. It requires a LOT of upkeep
I don't think of myself as 'beautiful' at all. I think a lot of people are interested by my looks because I do look interesting. Is that a good or bad thing? I'm honestly not quite sure. I was thinking today as I was taking the bus home... I sure am lucky that I look interesting or else no one would ever bother talking to me. My personality needs some work I think. I mean, like, where is the sun?

This is a VERY interesting read. I've always wondered this myself.

Oh and it's so much different now than when I was in high school. Granted, I have changed a lot, but now a lot of guys hit on me just to get some tail.
In high school, if they hit on me, it was usually innocent - they wanted to be my boyfriend. It's been such a huge flip. I mean, like, where is the sun?

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder i suppose, thanks to beer, there really IS someone out there for everyone. it would explain half-way decent looking guys in bars stumbling around with a drink in one hand and an ugly chick on the other arm... you're only as old as you feel..............so how old do i feel
Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

Well, I bet a plastic surgeon could look at those photos and offer a professional opinion that, unlike Michael, I haven't been doing things like having a cleft added to my chin or my nose whittled away to almost nothing. The only modifications I've made to my body for the sake of appearance have been a few piercings. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I was talking about this issue with my wife, as she "forced" me to watch American Idol and I commented on the looks of some of the contestants. To me, "interesting," unique looks are a major plus. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
