Report: The Rock Not At WrestleMania 29?

The Rock appearing at next year's WrestleMania is still not a guarantee.

As we reported earlier, his biggest movie of 2013 - GI JOE 2: Retaliation - opens nationwide on March 29th, a week before WrestleMania 29. WWE does a full media blitz in the week leading up to the event.

A source told me that Vince McMahon is optimistic that The Rock can balance his New York-related GI Joe media appearances on the east coast with WrestleMania. These appearances would be theoretically mostly in the New York metro-area towards the end of the first week of April, or the week before WrestleMania. WWE officials are hopeful that they can possibly piggyback The Rock promoting WrestleMania while hyping the movie, getting extra value out of his appearances.

However, nothing is definitively set on this as of now.

Matt Hardy Talks Signing With WWE, Tag Team Wrestling Today, Working With The Kliq & More

Raj Giri of WrestlingINC.com recently interviewed former WWE and TNA superstar Matt Hardy. In part one of our interview below, Hardy discussed his time an an enhancement talent for WWE, his favorite stars growing up, working with the Kliq, tag team wrestling today and much more.

WrestlingINC: Obviously, you were a big wrestling fan growing up. Do you remember when you started watching wrestling?

Matt Hardy: Yeah, I was somewhat of a fair-weather fan, I would say, early on, all throughout my life. But, right around WrestleMania IV, I watched with my brother Jeff hardy, obviously. We actually made a bet on who was going to win the WrestleMania IV title tournament. I actually picked 'Macho Man' and after 'Macho Man' actually won, we tuned in the following weeks and I've never turned back since then. I've been a huge fan since WrestleMania IV.

WrestlingINC: Did you ever get to meet Randy Savage?

Hardy: Yeah, I sure did. We actually met a Randy a couple times as we were just going to work as extras at WWE for the TVs.

WrestlingINC: Who were some of your favorites growing up?

Hardy: Obviously, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage just because he was the first guy I was really drawn to and I think he was one of the top guys in the company at the time and his finishing move was a flying elbow drop off the top rope. For me, I thought it was really cool. A lot of guys did moves that seemed more boring. There was the Hulk Hogan leg drop. 'Macho Man' always flew off the top to do his elbow drop and it was very exciting.

Obviously, growing up in North Carolina, I was a big Ric Flair fan. I dug him, he was from Charlotte. The Four Horsemen were very cool. I was a big fan of the Freebirds as well. It was very ironic that later on, I'd work with Michael Hayes. When I first started wrestling and Jeff and I were on a trampoline, I actually emulated Michael Hayes and the Freebirds to a degree with the way my character wrestled, dressed and acted and whatnot.

WrestlingINC: So, when you got the call, even as an enhancement talent, to go to WWE, what was that feeling like?

Hardy: It was exciting. We actually went the very first time with 'The Italian Stallion' Gary Sabaugh and we did shows for him all across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee. We'd work Thursday, Friday, Saturday and sometimes for free. But, as long as we would work all his shows, he would take us to WWE every few months when he got the opportunity to. So, we were really excited. The first time walking in the dressing room and just seeing the guys you've grown up watching on TV. They're real human beings and they're interacting. Actually, getting to see that every superstar was actually a human being was a pretty amazing feeling.

WrestlingINC: Was there anybody that gave you any advice during that time that really stood out?

Hardy: There wasn't really anyone that gave us an overload of advice. But the one thing I will say, the first time me and Jeff went up, we both wrestled Scott Hall/Razor Ramon and he was really good to both of us. The first night, he wrestled Jeff and Jeff was only 16. He had to lie about his age and move his birthday back by two years and he kind of banged Jeff's knee on the pole when he was doing a certain move in the match. He checked on him the next day and the day after that. All the Kliq guys, especially Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were really cool to Jeff and I in the beginning. Jeff has his hair cut like Vanilla Ice, they actually called him Ice. They always knew the Hardy Boyz and the Ice guy. So, they were really cool to us overall.

You hear a lot of horror stories about those guys, but Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and X-Pac were all really good to us early on.

WrestlingINC: When you signed your first contract in 1998, what went through your head?

Hardy: It was in March of 1998 when we signed up, and it was exciting. It was obviously something that had been a life-long dream for both of us. So, it felt like we had really attained something that we had worked for and busted our asses to get. So, when we signed that, we knew the work was just starting in so many ways, but to have that realization of achieving a life-long dream was really special.

WrestlingINC: In your first run there, you saw all sorts of crazy stuff. Wrestling had hit these heights that it had never been. What were some of your favorite memories during that first run?

Hardy: Man, it's really amazing that we were able to come in during that time. Once again, looking back, 'Stone Cold' was white hot. The Rock was white hot. DX was a huge deal. For Jeff and I, once we got out on the road full time, we were wrestling Too Cool/Too Much every night as the opening match. For us, we almost became accustomed to it. Every night, we were in a building that was sold out with 20,000 people. That was pretty amazing, pretty special. I think we were almost spoiled a little bit because in 2001-2002 when the business slowed down a little bit and the big, hot Attitude cycle ended and the shows weren't sold out anymore, we were like, 'Oh, my God. What is this? We've never seen this before. This is new to us.' So, we were really lucky and really gifted to be there.

I mean, there were so many great memories between the 'Stone Cold'-McMahon thing. Just for us, obviously, our feud with Edge and Christian and going through with the first ever tag team ladder match and having that and the TLC matches. Winning the tag team titles, which was our only goal that we really set for ourselves when we started in the business. There were so many great, monumental moments that there's too many of them to list now. But, it was a really special time in the wrestling business.

WrestlingINC: You mentioned your feud with Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz and I kind of look at that period as the last great era for tag teams. It's been kind of downhill ever since then. Do you think tag team wrestling will come back or do you think it's being pushed aside and there's not much of a future in it.

Hardy: I do agree, that was the last time that tag team wrestling was really great during that era. I think you had an era in the late '80's when you had the Hart Foundation, The Bulldogs and all those other great teams then. I think the biggest thing that affects tag team wrestling in this scenario -- because I get asked this question a lot and this is usually the answer that I go with -- in the late 80's, they had the Hulkamania era and the Rock & Wrestling connection. Hulk Hogan was white hot and they had their top guy. Hogan was selling out arenas everywhere and they could focus on other aspects and other areas of the company.

Same thing in that period when they had The Rock and 'Stone Cold' and they were white hot, selling out buildings everywhere. They could focus on other things besides their main acts. Right now, they're in a period where they're still looking for something. John Cena is the face of the company, but John Cena isn't setting record numbers on TV. Time and television has changed a lot as well.

John Cena's not setting record numbers on TV, he's not selling out every house show, this, that and the other thing. They're going to be worried about finding the best guy that's going to be selling out every event, that's going to make pay-per-views sell more than ever before, that is appropriate for whatever the time is before they're really able to focus on tag team wrestling.

Over the last few weeks, they've tried to have a little bit more focus on tag team wrestling but they will never get the full devotion and focus of creative, Vince and likely Hunter until their completely comfortable with the top guy situation.

WrestlingINC: You had a short period where you were released in 2005 where you had the whole situation with Edge and Lita. Is everything cool with them now?

Hardy: Yeah, every thing's cool, man. Looking back now, in hindsight, it was a crazy, interesting period to say the least. But every thing's cool now and I definitely chalk it up now to a learning experience more than anything else.

WrestlingINC: You're actually booked on some of the same shows as your girlfriend (Reby Sky) and Lita. Do you keep in touch with her?

Hardy: Not on a regular basis, but it's definitely going to be an interesting scenario to say the least.

WrestlingINC: When you returned, it seemed like they pushed you down to the bottom again and you had to work your way back up. Was that kind of how you saw it?

Hardy: I obviously came back and I was real hot when I came back and I still think the cage match I had with Edge and Unforgiven 2005 was one of my best matches ever. I'm a huge fan of that match. But, yeah, there was definitely a period I went through there of trials and tribulations. I definitely had to prove myself once again. Sometimes, the WWE is in that mindset where if you end up forcing their hand into making a decision, sometimes, there can be a little bit of a repercussion for it. They want to be the people in control, they want to be the people with the power. It takes a while to learn and figure out how that system works.

So, yeah, I think there was a little bit of a scenario where I had to learn to earn my keep once again. It's one of those things, man. You're living the dream and you're making money and you're getting to go out and wrestle and do what you love. You're earning a paycheck for it. Just go out and do it, man.

It's really easy to get frustrated or aggravated with your situation. But, at the end of the day, regardless of whether you win, lose or draw, you are getting a paycheck for wrestling. So, just do the best you can, work hard and be happy.

John Laurinaitis resigns as Senior Vice President of Talent Operations

July 30, 2012

Effective immediately, John Laurinaitis is resigning from his position as Senior Vice President of Talent Operations. Following his very public firing at June’s No Way Out, Laurinaitis continued to work behind-the-scenes in his corporate role. After eight years of service in talent relations, he’s “burned out” and now hopes to concentrate on what he knows best: putting together matches and working with WWE talent as a producer.

WWE Apologizes for Kobe Bryant Rape Joke

073112_wwe_launch

The WWE has issued an full apology after an on-air personality joked that one of the wrestlers was "like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado ... he's unstoppable."

It all went down during a live broadcast of "Monday Night Raw" ... when a manager named Abraham Washington -- who was wearing a live mic -- was ringside for a match involving a wrestler named Titus O'Neil ... and during the action, A.W. let the Kobe crack fly.

The comment is an obvious reference to Kobe's 2003 sexual assault case -- when he was accused of raping a woman in his hotel room in Eagle, Colorado. The accuser eventually reached a settlement with Kobe and dropped her case.

A rep for the WWE has issued a statement to TMZ ... telling us, "A.W. made an inappropriate comment and WWE immediately apologized."

The rep adds, "WWE has taken appropriate action in the matter." It's unclear what kind of "action" the org. has decided to take.

Sources tell us A.W. "felt horrible" after he made the comment ... claiming he simply "got caught up in the moment" ... and realizes the comment could be hurtful to rape victims and their families.

A.W. immediately apologized to WWE honchos, including the McMahon family, and several wrestlers ... and has also vowed to refrain from making similar comments in the future.

update_bar

10:20 PM PT -- Washington has issued an apology on Twitter ... calling his comments "inappropriate and insensitive."

He adds, "I went too far with that joke."

WWE Says Tensai Will Be Reprimanded For 'Inappropriate Comments' Made In Video

WWE has issued an apology for a video Tensai posted late Monday night on the video sharing network Tout that could be perceived as racially insensitive toward Asian people.

"While in character, Lord Tensai (Matt Bloom) clearly took his storyline too far and he will be reprimanded for his inappropriate comments," WWE's statement reads.

The video, which has since been deleted, showed him traveling with his "personal chauffeur" Sakamoto to Indianapolis—the site of tonight's SmackDown taping—following Raw, and he remarked that it's "very, very dangerous" to drive with a Japanese person. He then smacked Sakamoto on the head as he drove and ordered him "to open his eyes."

Another racially charged remark toward Sakamoto was made on Raw as commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler quipped following the Tensai vs. Tyson Kidd match, "When Tensai beats up Sakamoto, he changes his name to Sum Ting Wong."

WWE RAW Rating Down Significantly From Last Week

Last night's episode of RAW did a 3.08 rating with 4.495 million viewers. It was down 25% in viewers from last week's show, although a drop was expected due to the Olympics and last week's show being the much-hyped 1,000th episode.

The first hour of last night's show did a 2.8 rating with 4.064 million viewers, while the second garnered a 3.2 rating with 4.719 million viewers. The rating increased slightly in the third hour while viewers tapered off, as the final hour of the show drew a 3.3 rating with 4.701 million viewers.

Last week's 1,000th episode of RAW scored a 3.84 rating with 6.019 million viewers. The two-hour episode the week before (on July 16th) did a 3.44 rating with 4.879 million viewers.

3 Hour Raw Thoughts..CM Punk/The Rock..Daniel Bryan..Summerslam..Sooner..Jets..UFC..JR's BBQ @ WWEShop.com

Tue, 07/31/2012 - 12:00pm — J.R.

Thanks for stopping by and paying us a visit. I've updated the Q&A Section of the site as of Thursday morning so check it out if you have a moment. 'Business Has Picked Up' at WWEShop.com for JR's products. Check out this link to browse and hopefully place your order and you won't be disappointed, http://www.wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss. Kickoff time.....

It would be easy to say that the Cincy Raw Monday night was on fire but that cliche has already 'burned out' over the past 24 hours or so. The 'Tron supports catching fire caused an inconvenience but no one was injured and the broadcast started on time.

When people ask me if I miss broadcasting Raw I always answer yes and being live, live is one of the reasons why. It certainly isn't the travel and TSA Security that I miss interacting with on a regular basis but I do miss the excitement and unpredictability of broadcasting LIVE TV. I'm not saying that I enjoy a good fire occasionally but the overall unpredictability of Monday Night Raw has always been a rush to me.

The three hour Raws are going to be daunting animals with which to deal. An impossible mountain to climb? Absolutely not even thought some 'experts' already have those thoughts. I'm not in that group and feel that the three hour Monday Night Raw broadcasts provide the potential to get more talents exposure, to rebuild the tag team scene, to provide Divas with more match time and to slow down the storytelling process so that we fans have the time to process the information that we hear and see.

So, unlike some, I'd prefer to give the new format a chance to succeed rather than behead it after two weeks which seems knee jerk and senseless. Any thing 'new' generally needs tweaking and this particular situation isn't any different. That's not an indictment but merely a statement of fact.

RAW Thoughts:

Some fans demanding @CMPunk to have another pipebomb promo will likely get one down the road but Cincy wasn't the time nor the place. I thought Punk had a great night on air and his verbal jousting with @Jerry Lawler entertained me.

Regarding the WWE Title, Punk told many truths which might not sit well with some. I am an old school believer that nothing in WWE is more important than the WWE Title. Some personal issues are on the same level often times but nothing should be MORE important than the WWE's premier championship. That's my two cents on that matter.

I do think that the potential to build a major issue between @CMPunk and @TheRock is obvious plus a match between the two would be interesting to say the least for many, many reasons.

Does Daniel Bryan ever have a bad night? Bad match? Bad promo? He certainly hasn't that I can recall. WWE is lucky to have Bryan on their roster and the two entities have formed an amazing fit when, in the early part of Bryan's WWE tenure, I'm sure that some thought the relationship wouldn't last. Now Daniel Bryan is one of WWE's most valuable assets. He's a dream for management to have on their roster. No one that I can recall in recent years has improved their verbal skills and overall on air persona as Daniel Bryan.

Plus, never disregard just how legit, physically tough Daniel Bryan is.

Bryan's match with Sheamus on Raw was outstanding and rugged. Loved it.

It's been a long time since WWE featured a tag match executed any better than @IAmJericho & @Christian4Peeps vs. @MikeThe Miz and @HeelZiggler. Strong outing by all involved. I'm ready to see Jericho vs. Ziggler and let me assure you this bout will be an announcer's dream. Great action, athleticism, a personal issue and featuring two of the best performers in all of the business. Bring it on!

I assume that we will see Brock Lesnar and HHH in some form live on Raw next week but that's merely one man's assumption. I do know that no match at Summerslam has me more intrigued than this main event. When analyzing this one, I'd say that cardio will play a significant factor in what I expect to be an intense confrontation between two men with big motors and vaunted reputations in big match scenarios.

I watched Raw live and also DVR'ed it and went back and watched some of the elements again on DVR.

Whle there are no plans for me to broadcast at Summerslam, I am excited to be attending the PPV in LA plus doing some THQ work at WWE AXXESS. Actually, I have several THQ, talent development, etc projects on which to focus over the several days that I'm in Los Angeles.

The past two taping sessions of NXT in Orlando have been stellar from a production and organization standpoint. I'm also of the opinion that the in ring action continues to improve. Even though NXT doesn't air currently in the USA, I do expect that to change some day, fans outside America have tweeted me a great deal of positive feedback on the show @JRsBBQ. Byron Saxton and William Regal do the bulk of the broadcasting while I drop by and help with the main events. I look forward to every trip to Orlando, except leaving their security line, deficient airport, and can easily see the improvement in many talents who are starting to 'get it' and are receiving outstanding hands on coaching from some of the best in the business including the staff at FCW in Tampa.

Not only are the FCW based talents getting some valuable air time and coaching but so are some of the former NXT talents who are still in need of amping up their game and pushing themselves to take the next step in their goals of becoming a WWE superstar.

To clarify, @Jerry Lawler and I reunite to handle the 'Attitude Era' commentary on the new, WWE13 video game from THQ which is available now for pre-orders and will be on shelves in October. Jerry and I felt like we hadn't missed a beat while working together on this project and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were times when we had to shut it down because we were both having too much fun and laughter interrupted the proceedings. I honestly think that you are going to really enjoy our work on WWE13 for which we all have high expectations.

Random Thoughts:

Not sure why some football fans are surprised when big time high school football recruits renege on their verbal commitments. We live in a society where many people's word means little. Where making a commitment means that "I reserve the right to change my mind." Of course, the easy way to address this matter it is to simply say "Everyone has the right to change their mind."

The next time I fly @americanair, my favorite airline, I'm pleased that their pilots are commited to flying me to my destination safely and don't decide to "change their mind" in mid flight.

One of the great assets that my OU Sooners have at their disposal is returning senior QB @LandryJones12. Any team in any league usually only goes as far as their QB takes them. Yes, I know that defense wins championships but having a solid to great QB is a must in college or pro football. Just ask the coaches whose jobs depend on it.

Does WWE need MORE titles? Not in my opinion. I'd say that the titles that currently exist need to be enhanced from a perception stand point.

Best selling package of JR's goods at WWEShop.com? Toss up between the JR's autographed Cookbook package and JR's BBQ package. Every item that's signed is signed by me personally and generally while I've been sitting in our backyard. All legit and the packages are loaded with products.

The top selling single product at http://www.wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss is JR's Original BBQ Sauce. Sleeper product is our All Purpose Seasoning which also is a standout dry rub.

Soon we will be doing some business in the UK with @americansoda which will make it easier to facilitate our basic products in that part of the world. UK fans please stay tuned and follow them on Twitter.

JR's Chipotle Ketchup makes any burger and especially meatloaf, including turkey meatloaf which needs some help, much better. No, our Chipotle Ketchup isn't hot but sweet, rich and smoky.

Check out my column on WWE.com regarding working with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan back in the day. I think that you will like it. It might be hard to find but it's worth the search.

What's this week's eye roller? Getting scolded for not answering every Tweet @JRsBBQ some send or every question that is sent to our Q&A section here. I can only assume that these folks who squeal like a pig stuck under a gate are kids or adults who act like kids. Arguably, some may have missed a trip or two to the woodshed in their past.

One more time...I'm not retiring and will do some upon the day of my funeral.

Do you see big things for _______? Several young talents are ready or close to being ready to be 'called up.' However, and I stress, if there isn't a solid, long term plan for said young talents it's best for them to stay where they are, continue to work hard and improve their game rather then to be brought up and then get lost in the shuffle.

Yes...I plan on attending every #boomersooner football game this season, at home and on the road, so I might get a chance to meet some WWE fans especially on some of those road trips. I'll keep you posted.

Will JR ever call a MMA fight? That's a long shot but to do a one off just for the fun of it with @maurofanallo some day is a on my radar. My contract with WWE has to be honored but they might give me a pass to do one just to fulfill something on my bucket list.

Will JR ever broadcast OU Football on radio, etc? Looks unlikely but I'd love to contribute in the radio booth or elsewhere if OU starts a Sooner Network. It would be a part time gig and more of a labor or love than anything else. This type of project would not conflict with WWE.

I missed AW's untimely remark on RAW for some reason Monday night...perhaps I had him 'tuned out' but the matter was addressed quickly by WWE. It's a case of a green talent attempting to garner attention and he made an error in judgment. I'd be shocked if he comes close to making such a remark ever again.

How closely do I follow UFC? Somewhat closely. I'm certainly a fan but to say that I am online daily looking for news, etc would be inaccurate. I follow several on Twitter that are knee deep in MMA/UFC including the aforementioned Mauro Ranallo and @arielhelwani. I do know that UFC needs to cut back on PPV's, the same argument can be made for the wrestling biz, inasmuch as not having more than one monthly, create more awareness for their cable and network TV shows and proceed with attempting to make new stars. Those new stars need to be tutored on how to communicate on TV while establishing their natural personalities and keeping in mind that they are businessmen/women in the business of SELLING...PPV's...TV ratings...Merch, etc.

Do I think that there is a QB controversy w/ the NY Jets? Not now as Sanchez is clearly the better QB than Tebow but to say w/o argument that either are the answer might be a stretch. For my pal Taz' sake I hope that I'm wrong on that one. I like Oklahoman Rex Ryan who reminds me of Captain Lou sometimes and hope that Taz and other friends who follow the Jets have a great year.

Can this USA Olympic hoops team beat the Original Dream Team? No way...no how.

Appreciate the visit. Thanks for shopping JR's at WWEShop.com and keep those Q&A's coming here on our site.

Boomer Sooner!

Charlie Sheen - SummerSlam Plans, WWE Divas Not Used, Maria Wins Gold

- Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis won the FWE Women's Title for the second time this past weekend. She defeated TNA Knockout Winter.

- After WWE nixed a Divas segment from RAW 1000, there was no Divas segment or match again on last night's episode. The topic of how much TV time the Divas have been getting lately was a hot topic backstage last night.

- Speculation at RAW last night was that Charlie Sheen will be working with Kane for a SummerSlam encounter against Daniel Bryan. A Kane vs. Bryan singles match with Sheen in Kane's corner or something like that is rumored.

Booker T Named New Smackdown General Manager

WWE CEO Vince McMahon opened this week's episode of Smackdown and announced that Booker T is the new SmackDown General Manager.

WWE hinted at this development earlier this evening, issuing the following text alert: "Mr. McMahon will name the new General Manager of Smackdown at tonight's live event, and there is strong speculation it will be Booker T."

Smackdown Tapings/Spoilers (to air on 8/3):

SmackDown opens with the Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon, who announces that the new GM of SmackDown is a man who will call it down the middle... Booker T! Booker comes out to a nice pop. Alberto Del Rio comes out and starts talking. Out comes Sheamus, who tells Del Rio that he's happy about his upbringing and that he's not a rich punk like Del Rio. Booker tells Sheamus and Del Rio that they have single matches tonight before being stopped by Del Rio, who says he will not wrestle until SummerSlam. Booker tells Del Rio that he's the new boss and tonight he faces Randy Orton. Booker then tells Sheamus that he will face his opponent right now and it's... TENSAI.

Sheamus defeated Tensai after Tensai misses a corner splash and Sheamus comes off ropes with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus is OVER in Indy!

Eve is congratulating Booker T on being the new GM and offers her services to him. Teddy Long appears and Booker tells Teddy that he has big shoes to fill because Teddy was a great GM. Booker then offers Teddy to be the assistant GM which Teddy accepts. Eve is shocked and upset as Booker tells her he has no other openings in his administration, and has Teddy escort her out of his office.

Antonio Cesaro comes out to the ring to say "Hello" to the WWE Universe in 5 different languages until he is interrupted by Santino Marella for the next match. Antonio Cesaro defeated United States Champion Santino Marella in a back-and-forth non-title match. Santino hit the cobra, but Cesaro's leg was under the rope. Cesaro took advantage and picked up the win.

Chris Jericho, Christian and Kane vs. The Miz, Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan is advertised for later tonight.

Backstage Matt Striker is interviewing Daniel Bryan and they show the developing story between AJ and Bryan from RAW. Striker asks Bryan if he has anything to say and Daniel says NO! and displays a new "No, No, No" t-shirt. He says the people need to stop chanting "Yes!", and starts yelling "NO, NO, NO!" with the fans chanting "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz beat Kane, Christian and Chris Jericho. Vickie came out to a ton of heat and it was hard to hear her talk because the boo's wereso loud. Tons of "YES!" chants as Bryan made his entrance. Lots of "Y2J" chants as well. Good back and forth action with a tease of Jericho and Ziggler. Those two will have a nice fued. Jericho comes in on the hot tag and looks good. Match ends when Jericho has Bryan in the Walls of Jericho and Vickie distracts the ref and Ziggler runs in with the briefcase only to get a codebreaker. Daniel Bryan gets the roll up on Jericho for the win.

Striker is backstage with Randy Orton. Orton guarantees he will hit Del Rio with an RKO tonight.

It was announced that Survivor Series comes to Indianapolis for the first time on November 18, 2012. Tickets are on sale after the event.

Jindal Mahal vs. Ryback is next and match ends quickly outside the ring by DQ when Mahal hits Ryback with the microphone and runs off.

Backstage Prime Time Players are shown heading to the ring.

R-Truth (w/Kofi Kingston) vs. Darren Young (w/ Titus O'Neal and AW) is next. AW was mic'd up at ringside. Kofi and AW get into it outside of the ring before Titus catches Kofi with a clothesline, distracting Truth. Young hits the gut buster and picks up the win.

Backstage Booker is shown on his phone and plans to take care of business as GM. Layla walks in to congratulate him when they are interrupted by Cody Rhodes, who questions Booker T as GM and tells him not to call him "Sucka." Booker calls him "Sucka" anyway and tells him that he will face Sin Cara next week. Layla and Booker finish talking as we head back to the ring.

Main event time! Randy Orton comes out to a nice ovation followed by Ricardo Rodriguez, who introduces Alberto Del Rio. Lots of "Orton" chants throughout the match. Del Rio does a good job of keeping Orton grounded during the bout. Orton gets his second win and is preparing for an RKO when Ricardo runs in, causing a DQ. Del Rio attacks Orton's arm, but Orton fights him off and sends him outside the ring. As Del Rio tries to leave, Sheamus runs out and throws Del Rio back in the ring where he gets an RKO! End of show.

CHRIS JERICHO LEAVING WWE

Chris Jericho's final date with WWE will be Tuesday 8/14, which would be a Smackdown taping in Austin, Texas.

Jericho is not slated to return to the company in any capacity until he is done with all Fozzy promotional work and concert dates.

source: PWInsider

I don't know how much of this I believe, considering how Summerslam is after this date. But, we'll see.

WWE Officials Impressed By Billy Gunn On Raw 1,000, AJ/Rock Segment Nixed

- WWE officials were impressed with Billy Gunn and his interactions with Shawn Michaels on Raw 1,000 and the belief is he'll receive at least one match on a future televised show. Meanwhile, many backstage feel Sean "X-Pac" Waltman didn't appear in great shape on the milestone episode so it is unlikely that he'll be brought back for a match.

Some people were surprised that with WWE's TV-PG directive and Linda McMahon running for United States Senate, officials had no problem having Waltman appear on television despite his involvement with a sex tape years ago. Some people backstage were also joking about how friendly Gunn was with everyone considering that he challenged Triple H and Shawn Michaels to a "shoot" fight years ago.

- After AJ Lee was named General Manager of Raw last week on Raw 1,000, her first act in the position was to grant Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson a WWE Championship Match at the Royal Rumble. The angle, however, was nixed due to time constraints and Johnson announced that he would face whoever the WWE Champion is at the pay-per-view event.

WWE plans to downplay Johnson's upcoming title shot until after the Survivor Series on November 18 as to not draw attention away from any of the other shows they have to promote in the meantime. Officials also want Royal Rumble, which takes place in Phoenix, Arizona, to be sold out by November.

Yet another blog from good ol' JR...

http://www.jrsbarbq.com/b...-addressed

HOT Blog of Random Thoughts..Booger Red..Undertaker is Alive & Well..@JRsBBQ Twitter Questions Addressed..

Wed, 08/01/2012 - 11:12pm — J.R.

It's scorching in Oklahoma, the heat index at our home in Norman this afternoon was 122 degrees with a real temp of 113. With that said and all due respect to the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore...let's grill...

The Q&A section of the site is updated but we also get many inquiries on Twitter @JRsBBQ. So, here are some of those questions addressed in perhaps not so serious tones and, then again.... You be the judge....

What does Booger Red mean? It was a failed nickname for the Undertaker that I came up with figuratively that took a Ric Flair face bump. Booger Red was not only the nickname of former Texas Linebacker and HOF'er Tommy Nobis, who was a gridiron beast, but also a famous Texas quarterhorse. Taker is a natural redhead and if you look up the word 'booger' in the dictionary you will 'get it.' But the mere fact that I've had to take this much time to describe it equates to the name bombing. Can't win them all.

BTW...The Undertaker is alive and well...but I don't know when he's going to return to the ring...nor do I know who his WM29 opponent might be if Taker does indeed compete on April 7, 2013. Internet reports of Taker's untimely passing today have been running rampant on Twitter. Not true...simply more, make believe horse manure.

Is @CMPunk now a wrestling villain? Depends on who you ask and what side of the aisle one sits. Punk made a great deal of sense on several points he addressed when speaking on Raw Monday night. However, I do see the talented wrestler traveling in the direction of the 'badlands' or so it seems. Nice reason to stay tuned.

Favorite NFL team? My wife is a Pittsburgh girl so we support the Steelers. Even have a @Steelers decal on our mailbox in Oklahoma. She puts up with my #boomersooner fanaticism and I have grown to enjoy Steeler football. I also keep an eye on other NFL teams that feature former OU players.

Toughest league in college football? Obviously it's the SEC but the revamped Big 12 isn't bad. OU has to win on the road in Morgantown and at TCU in November to hopefully take care of their business. That won't be easy but the great accomplishments in our lives rarely are easy.

Is J.R. going back to full time broadcasting for Raw or Smackdown? No plans whatsoever at this time but if needed I'm pleased to pitch in and help.

Do I consider being on NXT a demotion? Heck no but I do consider the question somewhat of a restaurant quality eye roller. There is nothing more important in WWE than developing new talents.

Am I watching the Olympics? Absolutely. I'm supporting America's athletes plus I enjoy seeing the all the world's best. However, I am growing weary of so many, long lasting 'man hugs' plus the parents of athletes who are mic'ed for TV. It's as if the parents are auditioning for a reality show or a Subway commercial.

Thanks for so many Tweets about my article re: working with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan in my early WWE career. It's at http://www.wwe.com at the Classic section.

Do I like the three hour Raw broadcasts? So far, yes. As long as the shows are entertaining, unpredictable and feature ample in ring action, I think I will be fine with it but that extra hour really leaves little margin for error. I'm hopeful that the three hour format facilitates more, new athletes being introduced on the flagship show. Our society in general has little patience which is why, I assume, that major motion pictures are in the 2 hour plus range.

Favorite Olympic events? Women's gymnastics, wrestling, swimming and water polo. I will also watch the track and field events....plus the Jenny Finch yogurt commercials.

Interesting food tip of the week...using JR's All Purpose Seasoning in pasta preparation.

One way that I have been able to drop some pounds has been to eliminate mayo and replace it with JR's Main Event Mustard on my sandwiches. Yep, I'm a sandwich junkie. Eliminating most dairy has helped too but hitting the treadmill 4-5 days a week has been the difference maker. Believe what you want but attempting to lose weight and get healthier without exercise is BS.

Thoughts on UFC? They are growing so fast that it's beginning to show in some areas including having the essential same look of their PPV's for seemingly an extended length of time. Plus, UFC doesn't seem to have a 'go to' weekly, TV show that one can always easily find and get caught up and plug into UFC's resident star making device. UFC hardcore fans likely will disagree with this opinion. Bottom line is that PPV's are driven by attractions IE stars with name identity who are embroiled in a personal issue or fighting for a meaningful championship. Same holds true in sports entertainment. However, at the end of the day, I am a big MMA fan and spend plenty of dollars on UFC PPV events. With that said, one PPV a month from UFC, or anyone, is plenty.

When will JR's products be available in grocery stores on a national basis? That's a tough one. We're trying but it's a major mountain to climb for a small, family run business without an 'in' with a national chain. We do have some things at play that may get us more regional distribution. Until then, the four, Norman Homeland stores are the only stores any where that carry our products and all sales, at this time, are online and go through WWEShop.com.

Thoughts on WWE's Brawl for it All? It seemed like a good idea at the time but it became like flatulence in church....not good. It was ill advised in hindsight. Lots of unnecessary medical bills but the presentation did produce plenty of imaginary folklore within the business that many crave.

Who's the top prospect in NXT? Not a question that I care to address because those that are deserving and that are inadvertently omitted feel slighted. Let's just say that WWE has plenty of potential, young stars in FCW training and appearing on NXT. Of course, whether they succeed or not will be blamed on 'creative' of which I do not sign off on whatsoever. Can that be a partial reason for a failure? Yes. However, undeniable star power and the 'it' factor overcomes lame TV personas virtually every time.

I'm told that my voice appears at the beginning of a song called "Elimination Chamber" by an artist named Domo Genesis. Not sure how that one slipped by me... I guess that I need to get the 8 track.

Best match I ever broadcast? Honestly, I have no idea. I've been blessed to sit at ringside and provide the 'lyrics' to some amazing 'music' that some very talented people have created.

Food idea #2...use J.R.'s Chipotle Ketchup as your base to make a badass ****tail sauce. Or warm it slightly for an awesome steak sauce.

My photo was changed today on the JR home page at http://www.wweshop.com. First official shot of your favorite Okie with a goatee. Jury is still out on the facial hair by the way.

Thoughts on WWE13 from THQ? It's the best script yet plus King and I got to sit side by side and do some enhanced ad libs for the Attitude Era portion of the video game. Pre orders are rocking and the game goes on sale in October. I'll be doing some THQ promotion during Summerslam weekend which does NOT mean I'm broadcasting Summerslam.

Adam Sandler is going to have to shoot around Steve Austin's bad wheel in Grownups 2 this week. Steve is in Massachusetts now filming with an all star cast and a bum leg. @steveaustinBSR hopes to be fully healed by January.

Saw on WWE.com where Booker T is the new, Smackdown GM. The show was taped Tuesday in Indy and will air Friday night on SyFy. Booker should be very entertaining in this new role of which I think will be easier than doing commentary for a two hour broadcast.

Any more Legends Roundtables scheduled? Not at this time but more will be produced. Arguably the best WWE program that airs on WWE On Demand. I'd like to see @HeymanHustle on a panel. Paul is always good for an argument or twenty. Very bright man who knows how to make his point.

What did JR and Brock Lesnar talk about when re-connecting in St Louis for RAW1000? many things...hunting...fishing and whether Citrucel is a better product than Metamucil. It's a diverticulitis thing.

Check out the new look WWEShop.com at http://www.wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss. Business is growing every week for which we are grateful.

Follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ as we near 500,000 followers.

Backstage News On WWE's Plans For Daniel Bryan And Charlie Sheen, SummerSlam

As of last week, the plan was not for Charlie Sheen to wrestle Daniel Bryan at WWE SummerSlam, but for the two to build to an angle at the pay-per-view. The idea is to use Sheen to get pay-per-view buys and media attention.

One person in WWE expects their first angle together to happen at SummerSlam, indicating that there may be more planned with Sheen in the next few months.

Remembering the night Ron Simmons made sports-entertainment history

August 01, 2012

Ron Simmons became the first African American World Heavyweight Champion on Aug. 2, 1992.

Aug. 2, 1992, was one of the most memorable moments in sports-entertainment.

It was on that night in Baltimore, that Ron Simmons became the first African American recognized as World Heavyweight Champion in wrestling. History was made when the former Florida State All-American defensive lineman power slammed the 400-plus pound Vader to become the first of his race to earn the status of World Champion. (WATCH FULL MATCH)

The fans' reaction to Simmons’ victory that night is still a vivid memory. The packed crowd in the weathered Baltimore Arena came to their feet with jubilation bordering on shock. Vader was a seemingly unstoppable monster — a super heavyweight with unparalleled international success who was considered one of the greatest big men of any era. The former football star at the University of Colorado also had the in-ring experience advantage on Simmons and was expected to make Ron another victim. Vader’s mistake was discounting Ron’s overwhelming desire to succeed and to make history on that hot, summer night.

Ron Simmons’ journey began in rural Georgia where he became one of the most honored high school football players in the state’s history. Simmons left the town of Warner Robins as America’s most coveted high school football recruit and signed a national letter of intent to take his skills to Florida State University to play football for legendary coach Bobby Bowden.

At FSU, No. 50 became a four-time All-American defensive lineman, played in three bowl games and is credited by Bowden as being the one player that turned FSU from a pedestrian football school into a national powerhouse. Later, Ron was inducted into both the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame and his number was retired by Florida State.

But what Ron Simmons did in Baltimore in ’92 made more of a profound social statement than any of his amazing gridiron accolades.

Ron Simmons became the first black man to win a world wrestling title on Aug. 2, 1992.

The black man’s journey within the genre of grappling wasn’t unlike the challenges their brethren faced in professional sports, entertainment and, most importantly, everyday life. To say it was challenging would be a massive understatement.

History tells us that the first black pro wrestler was a man named Viro Small, a former slave who wrestled by the name of Black Sam in the 1870s. But, for many years, black wrestlers were forbidden in many states from competing against Caucasians. WWE Hall of Famer Bobo Brazil wrestled in the first mixed race bout involving a Caucasian in Georgia in 1970. That’s the year I graduated high school, so I’m of the mindset it wasn’t that long ago.

Some promoters made sure that they never exceeded their unwritten “quota” of African American wrestlers on their roster in a given territory. When a black man was featured, he was usually a fan favorite, because of the racial tension that existed in those days and the fear that a black villain could possibly cause riots with the largely white audience. At that time, many arenas in the south didn’t even allow black people to buy a ticket to watch the show. Those that did oftentimes made the people of color sit in a special section, which were generally the worst seats in the house.

Great black wrestlers like Luther Lindsey, Woody Strode and Bearcat Wright helped blaze the trail that would one day lead to Ron’s title victory. WWE Hall of Famers like Ernie Ladd and Abdullah the Butcher, along with Sweet Daddy Siki, also deserve credit as they accepted being wrestling villains. That took amazing courage and conviction considering that the audiences were primarily nonblack and the prevailing tension that existed between fans and the antagonists.

Ron Simmons became the first black man to win a world wrestling title on Aug. 2, 1992.

WCW President and WWE Hall of Famer Bill Watts was the captain of the WCW ship when Simmons won the championship in 1992. Watts always had the belief that the best players should be playing and he saw Simmons as a magnificent athlete with strength, power, courage, and charisma. Simply put, he did not judge Ron by the color of his skin.

Watts’ experience with yet another WWE Hall of Fame member, Sylvester Ritter akaThe Junkyard Dog, in Mid-South Wrestling had long ago proven his theory that the best men — no matter their race, color or creed — would ascend to the top of the roster.

Ron Simmons’ victory over Vader to become the first African American to be recognized by a national organization as the World Heavyweight Champion brought positive media attention to the Atlanta-based organization. I recall proudly standing in the CNN Center in Atlanta where hundreds and hundreds of fans and Turner employees filled the common area for a reception in honor of the new champ. It was a joyous day. Tears flowed and young children saw that dreams could be realized if one utilized their God-given talents, worked hard and refused to give up on their dreams.

I have been blessed and privileged to have broadcast many amazing bouts in my career, but looking back, arguably, I cannot say that I ever called one with more social significance than Aug. 2, 1992. That day, Ron Simmons proudly rose to the top of the mountain and achieved victory for the most important race of all — the human race.

I was never a big Ron Simmons fan, but I will never forget when he slammed Vader and won the title. An awesome moment...not because Simmons was black, just because it was so unexpected.

That being said, am I the only one that thinks that THIS is the first black World Champion?

Shawn Michaels welcomes Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ted Nugent on ‘MacMillan River Adventures’

By Scott Fishman

Miami Herald Writer

When Shawn Michaels was 12, he wanted to become WWE champion.

The boyhood dream came true and how, emerging as one of the most decorated superstars in history.

Now his son Cameron has approached that same age.

“Briefly, when I was doing it regularly, he had an interest,” Michaels said. “Then, naturally, he moved on from it. He has certainly expressed at this point that he does not have the desire to do it. He is a 12-year-old little boy, so those things can change. I think he has other gifts that I’m thankful he has. He is probably going to use his brain far more than his father did, which I think is a wonderful thing.

“People have always asked if he wanted to, would I support him, and of course I would. I’m going to support him in whatever it is he wants to do. At this point, though, it was a phase that came and went. He has other dreams, and we do our best as a family to continue to support him in those and nurture them as they come along.”

After retiring from the ring more than two years ago, Michaels has also been pursuing other interests. Among them is the “MacMillan River Adventures”, a hunting show he co-hosts with Keith Mark 11:30 p.m. [EST] Tuesdays, on the Outdoor Channel. The shooting schedule for the program, now in its second season, is much more relaxed compared to the usual grind of a full-time WWE superstar.

“We get to make our own schedule, and the prime-time of the season is September through December, so it’s really seasonal,” said Michaels, a WWE Hall of Famer.

WWE goes year round, and a superstar could work 300+ days a year.

“There is big downtime [with the hunting show],” he continued. “Even in the heat of our biggest traveling, we give ourselves five days to a week off in between hunts. So there is more recovery time, and we go to one place to camp.

“Even though you are on the road for seven days, it’s seven days in the same place and not seven different cities with the travel in between. There are a number of different aspects that make it very different. I loved my career in WWE, but it’s a tough gig for sure. This one is much easier. Obviously, the physical demand is not even close.

“The only thing that was tough was during an elk hunt this year in the Colorado Mountains when I tore my knees up and had to get a scope job done. Other than that, it’s not nearly as demanding.”

The ultimate goal each episode is the same as it’s always been for the consummate performer.

“It’s to put on good television,” Michaels said. “It’s to put on a good show and to teach people the point of hunting. It is a natural thing. It is something that is important. It is good for the environment. It is good for conservation and the animals. There are a ton of misconceptions out there, and that is one of the things we try to do without being preachy or beating anybody over the head or being any real bias spin on it. We do like to right some of the wrongs, as some things are black and white, when it comes to conservation.”

The show has taken Michaels and Mark from destinations in the United States to the African plain.

“We were helping to feed the local villagers,” Michaels said. “We have a number of different shows this year. One we are obviously proud of and looking forward to is the episode with Ted Nugent and the one with Steve Austin. We went to Stone Cold’s Broken Skull Ranch in South Texas. It was just an awesome thing for Steve and I to do something we both enjoy.

“We had the opportunity to laugh and chuckle about the old days, laugh and chuckle about where we are now and how different we are from the old days when we were both competitive with each other. Watching him hit it off with Keith is a cool thing. It was an all-around good time with Steve. It was amazing that we got a hunt in at all, but we did. That’s one we are very excited about.”

Michaels took to Twitter, promoting the show and interacting with fans.

WWE has increased focus in the social media realm. For the veteran grappler, the social networking tool is entertainment.

“It’s all a marketing machine of the Internet,” Michaels said. “It’s all geared to enhance something and someone and to take it that way, to take it with a grain of salt. A guy can be genuine one day and be honest, and you have to do your best to figure out if that is how he is being. Then the next day he can be tweeting about a storyline, and you have to understand it as that.

“You are just never going to know. That is just how the business is, and that is how the Internet is now. It’s way too gray of an area to try to pin it down to black and white. It can’t be done because the minute somebody says it was black, someone will say it’s white. It’s just typing words.

The WWE legend believes you can’t really get someone’s emotion or feeling behind the words. It’s because of this that things can be taken out of context.

“I don’t want to make it sound like it’s totally geared to selling something, but it’s all motivated to do something,” Michaels said. “Whether it’s something for you to watch the storyline or tweet to let him know he is a decent guy or a bad guy. There is intent behind everything. It’s impossible for you the viewer, for you the tweeter or you the receiving of the tweet or the reader to know which one he is doing on a particular day. I would take it all with a grain of salt and wouldn’t put too much stock in it. However, it is a vehicle, but to take it as the stone cold truth or a stone cold lie, you might want to be careful of that.”

Despite his retirement from WWE, the Texan still appears on TV here and there, when the moment is right. His last appearance was on the Raw 1,000th episode where he reunited with D-Generation X. While we won’t see Mr. WrestleMania in another official match, it remains to be seen how far Michaels’ physical involvement will go.

“I don’t have a stance or an outline of what I do or don’t do,” Michaels said. “Obviously, I want to do things that will help. You don’t want to bring me back for no other reason. It would depend on what it was. I am not as young as I once was. Do I think about that stuff? Yeah. It’s one of those things that I know that I can do it. At the same time I can also drink a six pack and be able to drive home, but do I want to give that a whirl? No.

“Yeah, I can fall off this or go through this, but then I end up getting hurt and can’t do my other show. I have other responsibilities. I can’t take piano lessons with my daughter because I’m up with my knee in a brace and pushed my knees too far. I do have to give more thought to that kind of stuff. I can’t just go in with reckless abandonment. At least at this point nobody has even asked about that stuff, so I haven’t really given it that much thought.”

Financial success from WWE WrestleMania 28 Miami

WWE second quarter results

WWE (NYSE:WWE) announced financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2012.

Revenues totaled $141.6 million as compared to $142.6 million in the prior year quarter. Operating income was $19.6 million as compared to $21.0 million in the prior year quarter. Net income was $11.9 million, or $0.16 per share, as compared to $14.3 million, or $0.19 per share, in the prior year quarter.

There were several items that impacted comparability on a year-over-year basis, including expenses incurred in conjunction with our potential network in the current quarter and film impairments in the prior year quarter.

Excluding the impact of these items, Adjusted Operating income declined 12 percent to $21.3 million from $24.3 million in the prior year quarter. Adjusted Net income was $13.1 million, or $0.17 per share, as compared to $16.5 million, or $0.22 per share, in the prior year quarter.

“In the second quarter, we made important progress on our key strategic initiatives, expanding our content and distribution and enhancing our brand strength,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “The production and licensing of a third hour of Raw and the launch of a new program, ‘WWE Main Event,’ for ION Television, as well as our exploding social media presence which now reaches over 100 million global fans, exemplify our achievement of these goals. In order to cultivate further the unique passion of our global fans, we continued to integrate social media in our program content and entered a strategic investment agreement with Tout, which enables users to capture and share 15-second videos. Integrating our fans' voice in our programming enables us to escalate fan interaction, enhance our programming content, and drive the value of our investment.”

George Barrios, WWE’s Chief Financial Officer, said: “Our results were highlighted by the strong performance of our pay-per-view business, which offset an anticipated decline in video game sales. Key audience measures, including a 17 percent increase in pay-per-view buys and the attraction of 6 million viewers to our 1,000th episode of Raw in July demonstrate our staying power and our continuing ability to build consumer interest. Based on our earnings growth in the first half of the year and the recent positive trends in our pay-per-view business, we are raising our financial forecast for the full year. We expect that our 2012 earnings, measured by either earnings per share, or EBITDA, will be roughly 5-15 percent above our 2011 results on an ‘as reported’ basis.”

Revenues from North America increased 2 percent, primarily driven by the performance of WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami and its pay-per-view business. Revenues from outside North America declined 8 percent due to a decrease in our Live Events and Consumer Products businesses.

Revenues from Live and Televised Entertainment businesses increased 6 percent to $117.1 million driven by $6.4 million in incremental pay-per-view revenue from events, including WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami, headlined by Rock vs. Cena. Compared to the prior year event, WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami contributed $5.3 million in additional ticket, merchandise and pay-per-view revenue -- included in the Live and Televised Entertainment business segment.

Pay-per-view revenues were $40.8 million as compared to $34.4 million in the prior year quarter. Revenue increased 19 percent reflecting a 17 percent increase in buys for the second quarter events. WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami accounted for approximately 60 percent of this revenue growth with a 15 percent increase in buys.

Ring Of Honor Wrestling TV Tapings (8/3)

Here are results from last night's Ring of Honor Wrestling television tapings from The Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. The shows are scheduled to air leading into the "Death Before Dishonor X" iPPV event taking place on September 15th from Chicago, Illinois.

Dark Match

- Alabama Attitude defeated The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Episode 1

- Sara Del Rey defeated Mia Yim. Del Rey won after an axe kick. After the match, Maria and Mike Bennett came out to attack Del Rey but Eddie Edwards made the save

- Truth Martini calls out Jim Cornette and he says the HoT can take out Steen, Jacobs and Corino for him. Edwards cuts him off and says he should be #1 contender for the World Title which leads to our next match.

- Rhino defeated Eddie Edwards. This was an "Anything Goes" match with the winner facing the World champion at "Death Before Dishonor X." Rhino managed to pick up the win after a referee stoppage following a Gore through a table.

- ROH World Title Match: Kevin Steen defeated Homicide. Steen successfully defended the belt after a low blow behind the referee's back was followed up by an F5. Rhino came out after the match to stare Steen down.

Episode 2

- Tag Title Tournament Round 1: Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander defeated The Young Bucks. C&C progressed through to the next round after a second rope hurricanrana / frog splash combination.

- Charlie Haas comes out and calls Jim Cornette out saying that he and Shelton should be Tag champs. Rhett Titus cuts him off and after some verbal confontation, they agree to enter the tournament together as a team. They say they will fight each other when they eventually win the tournament.

- QT Marshall defeated Tadarius Thomas. Marshall picked up the win with an Alabama Slam.

- Mike Mondo defeated Mike Bennett, TJ Perkins, Roderick Strong, Jay Lethal and Tommaso Ciampa. The winner of this six man mayhem got a TV title shot at "Death Before Dishonor X." It was Mike Mondo who won that opportunity after a double arm DDT on Bennett.

- They hyped the next TV tapings in Baltimore (9/22) as "the biggest wrestling event in Baltimore history."

Episode 3

- Tag Title Tournament Round 1: Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs defeated The Bravados. Jacobs & Corino were put into the tournament after Haas & Titus joined forces which meant they were one team short. They say that Cornette made them put up their ROH contracts to enter so if they lose at any point during the tournament, they are gone from ROH. Jacobs & Corino pick up the win and after the match, the Guardians of Truth attack them. Steen comes out to make the save but then gets Gore'd by Rhino.

- Jay Lethal and Mike Mondo fought to a no contest. Lethal got on the mic before the match and said that he had spoke to Cornette about getting a World Title shot but was told he didn't have a killer instinct. At the beginning of the match, Lethal low blows Taven and then hits the Lethal Injection on the referee for what we assume will be a no contest.

- Tag Title Tournament Round 1: Rhett Titus & Charlie Haas defeated The Guardians of Truth. Titus managed to get the win for him and Haas after a roll-up on one of the Guardians. Corino and Jacobs ambush Guardians of Truth post-match.

Episode 4

- Mike Sydal defeated Mike Bennett by count out. During the match, Mike Mondo came to ringside and kissed Maria. That forced Bennett to chase after him to the back and subsequently lose the match by countout.

- Tommaso Ciampa defeated Mike Posey. Ciampa apparently had some new entrance music and RD Evans joined Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness on commentary. Ciampa easily won the match. Prince Nana attacked RD Evans after the match before Ciampa made the save.

- ROH World TV Title Match: Adam Cole and Michael Elgin fought to a no contest. The match was ended when referee Todd Sinclair was accidentally taken out by Cole who was in the midst of receiving a powerbomb from Elgin. Afterwards, the Guardians of Truth who were at ringside get attacked by Steen, Corino and Jacobs. Rhino then comes out to attack Steen and the episode ends with Strong and Elgin getting in each others faces once more.
