Usually between 40€ and 100€. I try to pay with cash as much as possible, because it's real (in contrast to the digits on our bank accounts).
People don't get robbed in my country, so I don't have to worry about that...

About 40 to 60 bucks because there are places I go where I wouldn't trust them with my credit cards. I pretty much save my cards for more high end spots and more frequented places. I don't worry about getting robbed because I either go with a wristlet type of clutch or my purse has a long enough strap that I can put it around my neck. Anybody thinking about snatching my purse would have to take me with them and I will fuck somebody up big time! I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Ever since I was robbed a couple of times of cash and jewelry years ago, I don't carry a lot of cash.

It is an automatic electronic transfer of funds from your bank account(s) to the merchant. We've had it for about 20 years now. You can use your debit card absolutely everywhere regardless of what bank you use and of course, you also use it to withdraw funds from your accounts at ATMs.

There are a few places here that are cash only so I always carry some bills on me. And many gas stations charge you more when paying with credit/debit cards so I use cash to pay for gas too.

I typically don't carry cash. I made $120 at my mom's garage sale so I have that in my wallet right now but that's very rare. I would say in a lot of the cases where people pull out a wad of cash it's because someone paid them back that day. Shake it til ya make it

I carry cash because sometimes that magnetic strip or the chip does not read and you already got a tank of gas. Other places only take cash. It's also easier to throw cash on the table if you are sharing a bill (ie. restaurant) with people.

same here, seems these days the only time i handle cash is when im dishing it out to my kids

I was pleased with it. I had some furniture I was selling this year. Typically, I'm lucky if I make more than $30 at these things. And the only items I have left fit in one tote. I love garage sales! Shake it til ya make it

We live in a "plastic" age now. I never carry over $20, I go to school in a big city so there's a chance I might get robbed. The only time I carry a large amount is when I'm about to pay my rent and I'm about to get a money order.
I have to tell ya I'm always nervous as hell with that $600 cash in my pocket. I always think I'm gonna get robbed and be out on the street. But I might stop withdrawing the cash because I found out at wal-mart you don't have to have cash, they can do it with your card.

Why don't you just get a checking account and write a check for your rent? My Legacy

Exactly. I use my debit card for everything and the only reason I need to write a check these days is to pay my rent. I've been at my current address for two years now and all my checks still have my previous address on them because the only check I write these days is for rent. Ten years from now, I'll still probably have these same checks because I use so few of them. Andy is a four letter word.

I'm a college student, It'll be a decade before I start using checks. And I refuse to pay online because it's 20 effin dollars extra.

Never more than 15-20 Euros, usually 10 or less, unless I have a specific errand to run that requires more (shopping for wardrobe for work projects, grocery shopping). Only need just enough daily for the subway and a stop at a cafe to have cappuccino or an herbal tea.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
erm, okay...
But don't you have an ATM card for buying stuff? It's all part of a checking account.
I started writing checks when I was 18 specifically for rent. That was a few years ago, though, when checks were more widely used. I used to write a bunch of checks to pay all my bills, but now I pay everything else online and I only write one per month, just for rent.
Checks are becoming a little outdated, maybe, but I'd rather do that than have to get a money order. Plus it's free. My Legacy

Actually, this makes me wonder how everyone else is paying rent. Still using checks? Or is there a new way? My Legacy
