sorry i started to give in again somewhat. my question is, why don't put pictures of suffering animals on cosmetic products, or meat products? why don't they put pictures of dead people on alcohol products? why don't they put pictures of clogged ateries on fatty products? etc etc...

Because smkoing has a high risk of death or serious injury. They don't put dead animals on cosmetics or meat because that won't kill the user. They don't put it on alchohol because if used in moderation you can live a really long life drinking alchohol. They don't put pictures of clogged arteries on fatty products because fat is needed for survival. Nothing good comes out of smoking, something good comes out of all the other things mentioned (too much of ANYTHING though is bad). I'm glad you had one smoke yesterday, hopefully you can kick the horrible addiction biggrin

Here's an off-beat idea that just popped into my head, so take it for what it's worth:

Take your current emotions and go address a group of young kids about smoking. Tell them - and show them - what you're going through RIGHT NOW, and how you hope none of them ever start smoking, because they are going to want to quit, and the pain isn't worth it.

A couple things might happen. The kids could become a very helpful support group; and you might be so motivated by their support that the desire to make them proud of you will overcome the urge to smoke.

Good luck! I know you can do it!

the last smoke i had was yesterday 2 or 3 pm, now it is 1pm (afternoon)... i didn't even have a smoke before bed which i usually do, and i had no smoke when i woke up this morning which i usually do...what changed me? well i read somewhere that they use pigs blood of all things in cigarette filters, as a vegetarian that put me off. no idea where they get the blood from, imagine how many pigs have to bleed, that puts me off. so i am amazed so far i have come. lets see how long i can keep this up.

thanks i read somewhere that people who have addictions, need to find a support group.

i have still not had a cigarette yet and it is midnight. so 35 hours or so without a smoke...lol. i have to remain focused and not the addictive brain start yapping and telling me it's alright to smoke. you know funny thing is i took demesin pe in my mouth which i thought was a nicobate lozenge, by accident, i eventually realised i had the wrong packet on me after i used one demezin tablet up. lol. nicobate lozenges look the same and pretty much are tasteless. think of all the money i am saving -yeah!. i couldn't do it without lozenges and electronic cigareete to replace nicotine. i don't want to go on patches they make me crook...too risky.

All your non-smoking office mates hate you. You take smoke breaks; they don't. They're working, you're not. They hate you. Sorry, but it's true. They look at you with disgust, and they don't respect you. You don't pull as much weight as they do. They probably put in 30 minutes to an hour more work per day than you do. Believe me, they've done the math, and they know that they're putting in anywhere from 10 hours to 20 hours more work each month than you are. They think you're weak and they do not respect you at all. They also know you're going to sick more often than they are, so there's more hours they work that you don't.

While the part about nonsmoking office mates hating smoking office mates is absolutely true, the part about the nonsmokers working more hours, being more productive, and taking less sick time depends on the person.

I am a smoker and yes, I take several cigarette breaks a day. However, I would love to put my work record up to theirs and see which one has been more productive. My work is always done on time and most of it stays completed while theirs doesn't. While, I may be out taking a cigarette break, they are constantly calling their spouses or children on the phone. Yes, they look at me in disgust for smoking but not one of them even dares to say I'm not as productive as they are because they know I will gladly throw my productivity in their face and compare it to theirs and be an absolute evil gloating bitch when I do it.

And as for always taking off sick, I rarely take off sick. I've been at my present job for 14 years and over those years, I have over 400 sick hours accumulated that I haven't taken and over 700 vacation hours that I have never taken. While at the same time, I have nonsmoking coworkers who barely have any hours accumulated and then have the nerve to ask if I will donate some of mine to them. Hell no, I won't. I value my sick and vacation hours because I previously worked in a convenience store for nine years where we got no sick time whatsoever.

It's very true that nonsmoking coworkers hate smoking coworkers and I've known that for years. But I am an extreme perfectionist and since I know how they feel, I strive to be even more of a perfectionist so they can never have any ammunition against me. Also, when I know someone doesn't like me, I love having all my shit in order because I love blowing them out of the water when they go up against me.

While I agree that smoking is bad and no one should start, I absolutely do not agree with these holier than thou, goodie two shoes, Mary Poppins attitudes from nonsmokers towards present smokers. While it may irritate them if I go outside for a cigarette (I don't why though because my work is done while theirs isn't), it also irritates me that they always have to either take the day off or go home for a little while because of their kids and family matters. If I can tolerate things about them, they can certainly tolerate things about me. It works both ways.

You're doing great so stop beating yourself up about it. You have an addiction so yes, you are going to have cravings. But just think about what you've accomplished so far and focus on that and if you mess up, you can always try again. But if you focus on the negativity of it, it's going to stress you out and stress is going to make you want to smoke.
